  • Rare as rockinghorse shit footage! Thanks for posting!!!

  • I couldn't hear wat he was saying over the stupid voiceover guy

  • Love the buzzcocks...but this isn't all that good of a cover. Gotta be truthful, the instruments were great but the singing pulled me out.

  • なんだこの帽子野郎 かっこーつけてでてきてたいしたことねーな ひいてんじゃんか自分自身に

  • @kk5239

    帽子野郎って・・・

    マガジンのハワードディボートを知らんのか??

  • Troggs

  • Punk-ass drummer knocking over that stack at the end.

  • tso good! Howard Devoto is an alien hybrid.

  • Howard Devoto has one of the most interesting voices I've ever heard!

  • @biozdenda when he talks sounds like Paul McCartney ey?

  • I love ever three versions of this song. the one of the troggs, ramones and the buzzocks. three great bands. way much better than the shit form today

  • i love this song

    papapapapapapa

  • I love his enthusiasm at the start with the "one two three four.." :']

  • Troggs did it better.

  • isnt that the singer in Magazine, the man with the cap

  • @perkelepower Yeah it is, Howard Devoto. He was the original singer in the buzzcocks, check out the spiral scratch EP. Its the only release besides a compilation called time's up that he is on.

  • 8 people are able to control themselves.

  • I clicked on this just for there name, and they lived up to it. hahaha

  • it short for boredom boredom from the first ep.i fucking loved that bit.

  • Thank G-d for the Buzzcocks. Such raw talent. Never got into the Ramones - they sounded way too close to home (yep, Queens, NY) - truth be told I couldn't stand listening to The Ramones so I grew to hate punk - until the UK invasion and all was saved......

  • 'badoom badoom' XD

  • Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba

  • Wow thats great!. You get this on the Razorcuts bootleg, along with a couple of others. Always wondered where the recordings came from.

    great post

  • Devoto is the only cool person to have ever emerged from the blast furnaces of Scunthonia.

  • @MARMARR1 JUST LIKE UR FAMILY

  • they didn't know how good they were. that was the problem

  • you know I really like the buzzcocks, because they make me feel like I really can sing well comparing to them.

  • Buzzcocks at their best.

BTW - is "Ba-doom-ba-doom" some kind of secret UK code?

  • @nevets4ever

It's the guitar line to 'Boredom'

  • @reint25 That's part of their "thing." That sort of thumbed nose at conventional performance standards, especially with a triumphant return gig, was pretty novel then, and they did it with very good humor. Diggle was pushed so that he wouldn't be hurt by the falling gear.

  • ...oom ba doom for sure...

  • Does anybody know why John Maher is so pissed off? He almost pushed Diggle under those speakers and pushed him away afterwards.

  • @Reint25 emm maybe that is why they sing a song called i cant controlled myself ?

  • I had that same Marshall combo amp years ago....and I .......sold it. :( Aaaaaagh!

  • Wow, some good memories here... Saw these times...Electric Circus, Mayflower, Queens Hall-Bell Vue, before they knocked it down & built a housing estate. Band in the wall. Anti-Nazi Carnival, Alexandra Park, Moss Side. And Devoto/Magazine @ Russell club in Hulme...all wicked times

Devoto speeding his tits off as usual

  • wtf is this shait...

  • Awesome !! Nice post thanks :-)

  • Brilliant, they were at their best with Deveto.

  • Why is 70% of the crowd female?

  • @KoivuTheHab- bcause cocks that buzz are better..

  • I always wondered why Devoto felt he had to quit the Buzzcocks. Sure Magazine were more "sophisticated" but there's no reason why any of that stuff wouldn't have worked with the Buzzcocks. They could have stayed together and had twice as many tunes. Oh well.

  • One of my favorite songs from the Troggs sung by one of the few bands that can do it justice!!! And I'm seeing them tonight!!!

  • such epic wickedness, thanx for this 8-D

  • This is awsomeness

  • who's the singer in this song ?

  • @pxpx101 howard devoto, the original buzzcocks vocalist, he formed a group called magazine, more synthiser, check them on youtube,

  • ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba :D

  • this is great, because I love the Troggs and I love the Buzzcocks.

  • my partners 15yrs older than me and has told me to check this band out, gotta say i love em!!!this was the year iz born-hardcase

  • joy division meets the ramones

  • @abrahamholguin I was thinking about the same thing.

  • If God had a band, it wouldn't be this good.

  • @CatapultYourMom

There is no god, so obviously.

  • did u need to state that fact ?

  • @DaveLivingston

That's only because JOHN BONHAM IS DEAD.

  • :-)

  • I had no idea this gig happened - brilliant!! Wonder if DIggle struggled with the big fat strings?

  • the original is better by far

  • awesome :)

  • I do not really get it. Where is their usual bass-player Steve Garvey? I mean, in 1978 he already arrived, right?

  • the bass player playn plays guitar in the ever fallen love video in this gig. i think the other one went off so the original 4 could have a laugh i suppose

  • Ah, that makes sense. Thank you!

  • i think youll find the drummer here is John Maher ,.. poconolots

  • I had this on a bootleg album, and I was always so confused because Devoto was singing and the date didn't sense. Now I understand! Thanks for posting!

  • It was on Razor Cuts

  • I love the buzzcocks!

  • Weren't the Steves (Garvey/Diggle) playing a MusicMan Stingray bass?

  • Wow, the drummer (John Mayer right?) seems to be pissed off, throwing the amplifier on Steve Diggle (and leaving trough the crowd).

  • [I can't resist this!]

Q: What do you call someone who hangs around with musicians?

    A: A drummer!

    LOL

    Don't bother replying!.....

    PtB

  • not a bad word about that drummer btw :)

  • Modds and fucking eyeliner?

  • Ace....

  • GBrewat

  • WHAT everyone seems to miss is that this is

a MAJOR LIVE performance ...even if they performed 'maryhadalamb'

    it's the on stage presence...DEVOTO,SHELLEY,DIGGLE+

    Joy Division's' future drummer MORRIS

    that makes the point here!!!

  • yeah wow

  • QUITE

  • Comment removed

  • I prefer TROGGS.

  • YOU WOULD hahahaha

  • Of course :o)

  • live at foligno italy the 14

  • Ils sont mauvais. Les Troggs sont très supérieurs !

  • Heh, nice one John.. push your way past Steve and then push your way through the audience. You were fucking great!

  • oh look there's Morrissey in the audience!! hehe

  • Are you serious? That would be something.

  • I'm joking, I didn't look ... but who knows?? I think he said he was there.

  • He certainly saw Buzzcocks live. Was it this concert?

  • I only know what I read in the history books lol - Buzzcocks, Manchester Free Trade Hall 1978: legendary!!!

  • Devoto era...this is freakin' priceless!!!

  • bUzzcocks tonight live glasgow whaaaaaa so cant wait

  • Pete obviously liked this shirt.

  • I was dumb enough not to be there

  • wish I could've been there.

  • okay the guy who is saying "bam bam bam" crap should not even be in the song but without including that comment the rest of the vid is great.

  • so sweet this is real

    this is the movement

  • HORRIBLE?? This is the best version of this song...ever.

  • hahaha troggs is 10x better as much as I like the buzzcocks

  • THIS is truly one of the greatest clips ever posted on YouTube. How brilliant to capture this 'reunion' of sorts, just months after Devoto left the Buzzcocks to form Magazine. Pete and Howard seem almost playful before belting out this number. What a treat to have been there! Thanks for posting this! By the way, the voiceover at the beginning tells me this is on a documentary or something. Anyone know? Thanks.

  • As I recall, this is from "B'Dum, B'Dum"-the entire documentary of which is HERE on Youtube! It's a MUST SEE!

  • Thanks Babyhowdy! I have been waiting patiently for a response.

  • The 'Times Up' bootleg with Howard on vocals is one of the best punk albums ever :-)

  • Wasn't the bah bah bit from the Troggs originally from the 60s where the most innovative music came from. Love the Buzzcocks though.

  • I remember this intro from way back. Was it from the 'Best in good Food' bootleg album maybe? Wasn't aware it existed in video form..Top stuff

  • fucking brilliant i love howard devoto he's a geniuos and a fucking prick but hey that's punk and shelley seems to be a nice bloke and he's one of the best popsongwriters ever...but devoto surely is my favourtite

  • I've met both Pete and Howard at different times and I can tell you that it was Pete who just blew me away! He is brilliant..far more intelligent when you speak to him personally then he comes off in the hands of most journalists, plus he is just the funniest and ballsiest person I'v ever had the pleasure to know..just a VERY cool guy all around! Howard is smart and talented, but not nearly so well-rounded as Pete is personally, IMHO.

  • If you like him so much why don't you marry him.:-) Oh, snap!! Great clip!

  • chuckdee121,

    I LOVE your suggestion!

Unfortunately, when I knew Pete he was MARRIED, and I'm not the kind of gal who chases after married men. HOWEVER, I found out not too long ago that Pete is SINGLE again, so you never know(WINK)! ;)

  • In a word, "SASSY" grrrrrrrrrrrrowllllll!!

  • devoto has style

  • shows wot you fucking know you obviously are about nine years old...without..the buzzers no Smiths ..no Oasis ..no chance for lads to dance..this was an unique time in the history of modern music

  • The point of the punk movement was to deconstruct the "tight" sound you like.

  • i agree with tinakohf.

  • Cinderella. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! Now, THAT'S fucking funny. What a douchebag...

  • Ugh, then piss off to a clip of one of your cock-rock bands, will ya? Why the hell hell are you here?

  • I'm a big fan of the buzzocks. But I have to admit that their version of this Trogg's track sucks. I'd rather see 16 again...

  • Maher once smashed his kit after a show, i would like to see this also...

  • I like the version better than the Troggs it has a bit more speed though the one they recorded in studio has a better bah bah bah bah part, I like that panning! Quality stuff from the 'cocks

  • what? it sounds terrible, the troggs version is a lot better!

  • That is just your opinion just as mine is my opinion, nobody is wrong or right, I just happen to like it a bit faster and a bit less 60's brit invasion but that is just me personally. I am not saying the Troggs are bad it is great and I am glad they wrote it but I think the 'cocks did it better!

  • true, i agree with you there!

  • pure youtube gold!

  • Pretenders did a great version of this in the old days as well.

Love the roving onstage camera and the way the drummer leaves via the audience - imagine that today!

  • Classic! wish i could go back in time!

  • I got worried... thought it was Andy Partridge and not Howie when he first came on stage... must have been that flat cap...

  • This is a buried treasure! Thanks for the upload!
