@KinetikPlayground Thank You for watching, and I hear ya about Midway and in a snow storm forget about it. At least landing approach is after the high altitude low pressure zone of death and powered up test for the engines on take off while hoping you miss the birds.
Workin the throttle as ou can hear....Reminds me of my visit to charleston SC. As we came in, it was all grassy for like a mile b4 the rw and we got lower and lower i figured we were landing in it.
Yea it was an ear full back there and I had the whole tail section to myself. It was very entertaining to the senses. Sounds like you had a long final approach I think they call it. Thank You for watching and comments.
flew into Ohare from vacation from Punta Cana in a blizzard couldnt see the wing tips of the plane, put us in a holding pattern for an hour, final come in for final approach. when we are 50 ft off the ground he goes full throttle, turns out plan in front of us skidding on the run away and didnt get off in time, ceiling about 500 ft... good flight other than that and the fact that when i got on the plane it was 90 and when i got off it was 20 :(
Glad you landed safe. Lived in the Chicago area myself for years and remember savoring what ever sun would shine in winter and enjoying a fireplace. Didn't get a vacation for years. Living in a warmer place now when I got there in winter it was like going to an amusement park for me when it was so snowy. It helped to know I was heading back to thaw in Florida after a few days I guess. Hope you can get to Punta Cana again or another warm relief.
December in Chicago can surprise you sometimes. There were many times we didn't have snow or enough snow for Christmas there. This post is from a late January flight. May your flights all be on time and I hope you enjoy your trip there.
Awesome, I was on a MD-83 in january, it was a PM flight from orlando to ord with a snowy approach, looked exactly the same. Its like I was on my flight all over again. Great Video!!!
Classic 80 flying! Awesome engine sound. Soft landing, although big no-no on a contaminated runway. Smooth is always good though, especially for your retirement landing. Great airplane. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you for watching, it did go pretty good. And the camera picked up the lights of the city streets below, so it wasn't just all that engine the whole time.
great video bad seat i can never be at ease next to that turbine.
