We know that God has always created, loved, & kept homosexuality on earth as part of His divine plan. Fallible, uneducated men are confused and manipulated into believing that being gay is a "sin", but of course it's not. That would God is an incompetent sadist who creates people as gay, then condemns them for it. So is the Lord is corrupt, or are homophobes in the wrong? Anyone who loves God knows that He is right, so His decision to create gays is the what we must accept. Why argue with Him?
When you boil your worth to God to God's judgment of your merit, it seems to counter the idea that righteousness in Jesus is supposedly what makes you justified before God, not any good actions explicitly. Technically, the idea that works result from faith is there, but this seems to boil salvation to merit, which is just muddying the waters. Not even a Christian, but this becomes ridiculous on its face in any kind of general theology that actually makes sense in context
@ToHoldNothing You're missing the point, buddy. It is precisely because we dont have any merit of our own that we need the merits of Jesus Christ. The commandments are meant to show us ourselves in truth. By the law, men are taught their inability to yield complete obedience to God, that thereby we may become convinced of our need of the Savior. Simple. Even a child can understand it. I broke God's law, and Jesus stepped in and paid the penalty.
@billkyllonen It's easy to ignore that not all those commandments have anything to do with being moral, but instead with being pious (first 4). Plus the final commandment against covetousness neglects that we strive for better things commonly because we envy others, though not to excess. If we don't have any merit of our own, commonly established by depravity, then why even have the law if it's purely for deterrents' sake? And the legal comparison fails due to God's perfect mercy and justice
"You can go to heaven..NOT because you've been such a good person, but because..[jesus christ blahblahblah]"
........some lame-ass carpenter 2000 yeras ago already knew you were going to be jealous of that other's guy plasma TV, so yeah repent and go to heaven, even tho u totally don't deserve it. Wow that's some motivational preaching??!! Wtf??
Yep. God is eternal and just, so when you sin against God your punishment must also be eternal. The beautiful thing is God sent Jesus to warn us of hell, show us the path of righteousness, and to lend his only son up for sacrifice to establish a new covenant between man and God.
It sounds completely crazy if you surround yourself with worldly things and living. Yet if you truly try to walk the path of Jesus then God will reveal himself to you in unworldly ways.
@davitodude Your god is just? Who said that? Himself? Sounds like a classic conflict of interest. Stalin and other dictators probably declared themselves just as well. God sent his son to have him brutally murdered to satisfy his wrath towards man, and to save them from the eternal torture pit he created (and because if he didn't, there'd be no reason to worship him). How is this beautiful? If a human being did the same on a finite scale we would appropriately deem him as a psychopath.
It would sound crazy to any rational person, and it is rational to say that a tyrant who decides who lives or dies based on who strokes his ego, and then calls such a system justice, has a very warped view on what justice is. I guess God does "reveal" himself when you walk with him, but the statement really means nothing. You simply see life through "god lenses" and attribute anything that can be rationally explained as your God's work.
You first must play with the idea that a God does exist. If you can do that then imagine yourself as God and what you would believe is justice for those who disobey you directly. Here you are a being who gave life to everything. And yet someone out there resents you because they are stuck on things you created around them. You did this to test them so you could separate those who disobey from those who obey. It is just to grant eternal life or death for those who obey/disobey.
@davitodude If I was God I would know exactly who would worship me and who wouldn't before I even started creating them. If I did follow through with creating disobeyers knowing full well they would inevitably disobey, logically I'm not really in a place to get angry at them over it as opposed to myself, anymore than I should blame the dog if I knowingly let the vicious dog free and it mauls someone to death.
@davitodude (ctd...) If I was God I wouldn't test people because I would know every single thing about them, I wouldn't need to determine their willingness to obey.
This brings up another point. The idea of having to compare myself to your god shows that your god clearly is human in nature, and not perfect. I thought humans were the evil ones, and here we have a deity bound by emotions who's done what every other human dictator has done, demand obedience and worship under penalty of death.
Hell was made for thedevil and his workers not for man but its the evil of man hearts, God give us choices , Jesus said I am come that you might have life and have it more abundantly but satan came to steal, kill and destroy, which ever path you choose to follow is where you will end up. Its quite simple, choose life.
Wow -- what a miserable human this preacher is. It's amazing that after 2000 years, people still will spread the lies that Christianity represents. Very sad -- WAKE UP PEOPLE! Christianity is a CURSE, and it will not 'save you'!
Instead of being 'Born Again', why not just GROW UP!?
There is nothing dishonest about the message of the gospel. Adam got his 5 bucks, even though he didn't pass the good test. The questions are intended to reveal to people that they are in need of God's forgiveness, and then the love of God in Christ makes sense to them. If we hated people, we wouldn't bother to tell them the truth and let them go to hell. If God hated people, he would not have sent his Son to die for them. I think you've got it backwards, buddy. Think about it...
Have you ever baked a cake? If you answer yes then you are a baker.
Have you ever worked on a car? If yes, then you are a mechanic.
Have you ever posed for a photo? Yes means you are a model.
Your logic in these types of questions is complete fail. If your god was so loving he would not have made hell to torture us because of his own ego. And how does god die, if jesus is god and god killed himself in a sacrifice to himself? Your questions are dishonest and the bible contradicts itself.
We love to complain about God. "How can God be so loving if he made Hell.", stop being such a cry baby. We try to comprehend ..why is there so much evil in the world, when we cant even explain the evil in our own hearts... We ignore the fact that we are liars by saying What you just did..
@DrunkenRanter the bilbe dont contradict itself, you dont make any sense.
and your logic is flawed. speaking in the sense of breaking a law. if you murdered 15 years ago & they just caught you now but you didnt murder sense, you still did the crime and have to pay the piper.

Whatever our beliefs as to what sin may or may not be, forgiveness is in reach of us all when we ask it for ourselves and EACH OTHER. :)

"The Bible teaches that God will hold us accountable for what we do, whether good or evil"
Well apparantly not the good. Apparantly the good things one does doesn't matter to God, you so much as covet and you go to hell.
"If Jesus sinned, his death on the cross would be payment for his own sins"
Apparantly a finite punishment like Jesus's would be appropriate payment for sins worthy of infinite punishment.
