  • I don't care whether it is too slow or too short - the side impact airbag allowed the driver's head to hit the window. The dummy's head went UNDER the airbag. Not good. driver would probably suffer serious head trauma.

    

  • I think I'd be dead there (broken neck), but my son in the back seat would be alive and well. That's what counts, that's why I'm buying a Volvo.

  • I have a V70 since 3 month :-) they are really great to drive and normally very safe... if not, i still like that car :-P

  • i supose the late curtain isnt bad if you see that the window didnt crack meaning the car slowed down enoug, and also the front was hit on a angle explaining y the curtain was to late.

  • There was a car accident outside my window an hour ago, some small car hit a new volvo v70 doing about 80km/h. I gotta say: Volvo V70 is a great car. Was barely damaged at all

  • Jeah it was a mistake. Volvo checked the V70's of this model after they received the complain from the NHTSA and it was just 'coincidence' that with this car the airbag didnt deploy as it should.

    Volvo crash tests more than 300 times a year in their own crash test centre in Sweden. They would have noticed the problem there if it concerned all V70's

  • Aunque la cortina se detono tarde, cabe mencionar que la fuerza del impacti hacia la cabeza es baja y si hay cierta amortiguacion de la cortina, la intrusión es baja lo que demuestra que el SIPS hace  buen trabajo, en fin adoro esta guayin en mi casa tenemos una y es un excelente automovil, seguro, muy estable y rapido

  • Yay its that music again! and I love the Mercedes-Benz sound logo at the end! It seems like curtain airbags on older models don't deploy as quickly? I saw a video of a 2001 E class and it had the same delayed airbags as this one.

  • side curtain deploys way too late for the driver

    otherwise intrusion is low and i bet the passenger would survive easily

  • @alexkvaskov How is it common sense, because faster is always better and timing means nothing? I made that comment because I'm fairly sure you don't really know what you are talking about, as does mostly likely none of the people commenting on this video. Including me.

  • @Ainived Indeed you know nothing about airbag deployment. The curtain deploys too late, meaning the occupant could hit the intruding barrier (a hunk of metal moving at 30+mph).

    It is fairly obvious you know next to naught regarding this. Sad.

  • @alexkvaskov What do you know about car safety systems, what kind of experience or education do you have? What do you work with? Nevermind actually, I'm not interested in hearing your answer to this as you are both rude and foreign to the fact that there may be things you do not know very much about.
