Most companies try to stay modern, or as the marketing agents may call it: "hip" and "cool" (yea imagine a 40 year old balding guy use those "buzz words") Anyway, in 2004 I saw a commercial SO dated, I found it was actually made in 1981 (thanks to the copyright), but worst was the fact that for even 1981 it looked dated (looked like a very early 70's commercial.
