  • Doing this at Montclair right now!

  • awesome man

  • :D

  • thanks for posting :) keep it up :)

  • Nice site. Thanks for your remarkable efforts.

  • Subbed! :)

  • this is such a powerful piece of music

  • Oh God, there is hope for this world - I see Houston area kids talking about this wonderful music! YAY!

  • Music for Prague 1968 was Husa in his genius prime. Incredibly challenging piece to put together - but oh so worth it. It can only be truly experienced live. There are only a handful of wind ensembles and conductors that can do the piece justice. The inspiration for the piece was powerfully tragic, but equally powerful was the art the came from Husa's pen.

  • Ah, this was definitely an influential piece for me. It was this and Quartet for the End of Time that really changed my mind about contemporary music!

  • 4:19 So beast (:

  • I played this at Devry. It was wicked awesome, broseph. lol!!1!

  • Woot... Warren Central is playing this!

  • I love listening to this movement, but it's SO much cooler when you are actually playing it, and can hear all the parts get passed around inside of the ensemble.

  • Warren Central High School in Indiana is playing this. It is insanely beast

  • thanks!

  • I love this piece! I heard it a couple of days ago from the Rutgers Wind Ensemble on Feb, 27. They were incredible. They had the best low brass sound I've ever heard and the upper woodwinds were so in tune the piece sounded perfect! I almost hated being in the audience because the music was so powerful I wanted to play it, however, I don't think I could choose which part I'd want to play: the upper woodwinds, low brass, percussion, the middle countermelody. It is so intriquit and euphonious!

  • Permian High is playing it this year...

I'm hoping we can pull it off. I don't think our band is strong enough though.

  • permian high is the best :) i think we can

  • Mr. Berridge is AWESOME.

He directed at my middle school for a few years.

  • bahahah way to fight the stupid amount of middle school showoffs on youtube, mate. this gave me a laugh, thanks.

  • My school played an excerpt of the piece for marching band :) Go L.D Bell haha

  • IT sounds like there is a french horn part missing somewhere before is gets really slow there is supposed to be a 2 octave horn rip

  • its not very Agressive as it should be and there should be a clarinet solo not soli. This is the 4th movement of this song for people that dont know.I have heard this song played by the North Shore Concert Band and it was amazing. You have to have your fingers moving like crazy for this piece. Overall its good.

  • my band played this song last year and we did such a good job im soo proud! =] its an amazing song to due its incredibly hard to! i <3 music for prague lol!!!!!!! =]]]]]

  • This is the song my band (Spring High School) played on our tape for Midwest - AND WE ARE PLAYING THIS YEAR IN CHICAGO at the "featured" time slot!!! It was really cool to be a freshman and play this piece. I didn't like it at first, but now I think it is freaking awesome. I'm just sad that our amazing seniors from last year can't go... (the timpani sounds slightly out of tune at 5:36-ish...maybe it's just me...)

  • That's awesome. I heard it last year at the Music for All National Festival (by Cypress Falls, I think) and it was really cool. I'll also be performing at Midwest (Lockport).

  • yeah Cypress Falls played this last year.

  • Morse code at :50..

  • holy percussion

  • 4:20-4:34 is the music we are using in a part of my marching band show.

  • Are you from LD Bell?

  • O.o Lol, yes actually.

  • In that case, congrats on BOA Houston! I'm from Spring...blasted 7th place! See y'all at state.

  • When I was a member of the C Leon King HS Band, we played this piece at District and State Band Contest achieving straight superiors. That was in 1971, if my memory serves me. I find myself today (Sept. 7th, 2008) in Prague and have just made a round trip in time. I attended a concert by the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra and listened to this amazing piece of music. To be in Prague and to hear it performed was like a pilgramige for me.

  • this, IMO, is the best recording of the wind ensemble version...it's available to buy on itunes, and I would recommend it.

  • No...listen to University of North Texas...amazing!!!

  • OUI OUI OUI L U R S S AVAIT TRES PEUR A L EPOQUE DE CETTE VAGUE DE LIBERTE

C настолько evident да да да l U R S S, БОЯЛСЯ очень ЭТОГО ПОРЫВА СВОБОДЫ

  • 3rd movement and 4th eh? The 3rd to 4th Movement segue in my opinion is the most epic entrance of any piece of music created... if done well. :-)

  • This is a really extraordinary piece of music. I heard it a couple of days ago performed by a really good orchestra. This kind of music makes you feel shocked. Husa created a prime exemple of political music.

  • Thanks for posting this music.

  • The comments here hopefully indicate more Husa's music may be coming to YouTube. This would be great.

  • is this really Eastman?....seriously?

this recording sounds very, VERY sloppy...

also, much of the rhythmic and harmonic counterpoint in the middle section of this mvt. did not feel properly accentuated. Surely this can't be Eastman... they've sounded MUCH cleaner than this.

not trying to rag though, because i'm planning on going there for grad school (lol).

  • this is one of the toughest songs to get correct like through the fire and the flames on expert in guitar hero three

Mason Highschool played it spring of 2008 and they sounded slightly better than this but thats the way the song is supposed to be

  • your comparison to a crappy dragonforce song cracks me up

  • i agree. maybe it's a muffled recording, but this doesn't sound like eastman.

  • Great, but I believe Cinco Ranch High School is better...

  • Yeah, but Spring High is freaking awesome

  • Update: Cinco Ranch High School went to National Wind Band something. Look it up on the CRHS band website.

  • I can def horn rip better than that xD. Love this song.
