  • I'm going to miss those turbo's. I drove all the way down to Long Beach to hear them one last time. Hopefully Tony George incorporates the DP01 chasis, the turbocharged engine, and brings down the oval racing to atleast 50-50 with road courses. In my opinion, the less the ovals the better it is. Basically I just want everything to go back to the CART days.

  • i agree with celpabedn... champ car and F1 are a lot more alike now with the higher nosecone, standing start, paddle shifters, and the tire system with the harder and softer compounds

  • Looks like they are taking the F1 approach, higher nosecone, standing start, i am an F1 fan, but i also like Champ car because its different, they should stick with less aero grip and more mechanical grip for easy overtaking!!

  • The new car is not as dependent on its wings for its downforce, which should improve overtaking. But yeah, Champ Car seems to want to be more of an international series to get away from the conception of being an American series. How much of that is an attempt to make it distinct from the IRL is a question...

  • They've also switched to the FIA's flag system.

    The Devil's in the details.

  • Wow! Very nice job. Thanks.

  • awsome vid!!!

  • Bravo friend, I was hoping someone captured this.. History was made! Now I really can't wait to see Champ Car on the Euro tracks. Thanks a million.

  • I was there both days. The Cosworths are a lot louder, but definitely cleaner sounding now with the new exhausts. Rev-limits and backfires are deafening now!

  • I really dig the look of the Panoz.

  • finally, the real racing season starts!

  • Fantastic!!! I'm a huge brazilian Champcar fan since the early 90's!!! The cosworth engines are sounding better than ever!!! I'm so excited!!!

  • they are mazdas now

  • Well, Mazda is now the official vehicle of the series, but the engines have not changed... yet.

  • engines are the same, made by cosworth, just now badged as mazdas.

  • There has been nothing published saying that the engines will be badged as Mazda. The 2007 Champ Car Rule Book calls the engine "Cosworth XFE 4 cam 90 degree V8 four cycle overhead camshaft engine". Mazda will supply the pace cars as the Official Vehicle of the Champ Car World Series. That's all that has been said.

  • Nice stuff Ron, thanks!
