They lost about 340 unrecoverable helicopters in the entire 10 year war. Most were Mi-8's. About 7% of the 340 were shot by Shoulder launched sams and some of them were Stingers. Journalists that were embedded with the Mujahideen said they witnessed 100's of Stingers fired and not often did they actually hit.

Very cool, but highly unlikely. As a former AA gunner myself, I can tell you that an SA-7 is inferior to a Stinger by far and it would likely take two Stingers to bring down an Mi-24. Also, it is improbable in the extreme that such a missile would by-pass its target then double back to strike it from the rear. If the missile missed it was due to operator error/firing within the weapons inner launch boundry, and it would continue on a linear path until self-destruction. But it was entertaining!

"Commander" is usually a term reserved for officers. I worked for a living, therefore I was enlisted and in the field with my troops. An "era" is a chonological block of history noted for a characteristic or feature.

Generally, I woudnt advise to watch any movies about Chechen wars. Russian cinema is all but dead, so that shot may be the only one worthy of watching. Money shot, so to speak, especially since so much hardware involved.
