  • ducati copy everything from the japanese.....the japanese was the first to truly built a sport bike, yet dumb ass people these days often claim that japan suck at making bikes ?.......LOL

  • @HistoryHmoobGuy It took the japanese almost 30 years to be able to make a bike as fast as the Vincent Black Shadow/Lightning. Japan was still making pushbikes and Ducati was already winning in the motorcycle competition scene. The Japanese did what they always do, take what others have built and improved it.

  • @HistoryHmoobGuy And if you notice, most European motorcycle companies were small companies that only built motorcycles compared to Honda that made other stuff to give them the funds to design and build bikes, if the bike sucked ass, they would go bust. Vincent, Triumph, Norton, BSA, they all went bankrupt at least once, the only one surviving these days is Triumph.

  • @Stuntman175 triumph's quality is extremely poor...I remember looking at a triumph 600 sport bike once andf i remember saying to myself "damn this bike is pritty cheap!"

  • @HistoryHmoobGuy You should checkout the new Triumph Daytona 675, it's considered the best motorcycle in the 600 class for 3 consecutive years.

  • @Stuntman175 I'LL DO THAT, thanx !

  • The 916 is a pile of junk.. unreliable!!! And YES I have owned one (As well as a Ducati Monster 750)! I now own a Honda VTR1000 SP2 (RC51) and I would never go back to a Ducati!! Like anything Italian.. all looks but no performance or reliability! My 916 spent more time in the mechanic than it did on the road!! UTTER JUNK!

  • left Ducati in the dust on Moto GP????

Ducati doesn't use a V-Twin in Moto GP you idiot.

  • Hmm, as far as I know the v twin engine only got one problem: throttle response on corner exit...all major Japanese manufacture would eventually exploit this weakness and left Ducati in the dust on Moto GP...take Yamaha for instance...best kept the v twin for cruiser bike after all...

  • @loo85 As montelatici said Ducati doesn't use a v-twin in MotoGP. The desmosedicis use v-4 engines. As for v-twins being only for cruisers, Ducati has dominated world superbike.

  • @JACKtheRIPP3R189 Dominated? I believe the SP2 hammered the Ducati when it first came out.. I am just waiting for the new version of the Sp2 using a V4 engine.. THAT is gona be a bike and a half!!

  • @ENightmare69 "Dominated?"

Yes, 13 SBK wins since 1988 is pretty damn dominant. Honda has won less than half as many races as Ducati in SBK. The RC51/SP2 was a great bike, but it wasn't really a miracle bike like the 916 was in the 90s. As for a V-4 engine I'm pretty sure Ducati will be heading that way soon, they can't keep upping their twins it's likely that the upcoming superquadrata/1199 will be the last v-twin superbike Ducati will make. Competition = more awesome street bikes :)

  • what i can say, i bought a 916 sp , had an accident, since then i can t sleep, i can t eat, i dumped my girlfriend, i think about all the time of riding it again, looking at it while i seat somewhere drinking with my friends, hearing her roar and making car alarms go off and make girls drop their painties when they see me ride buy.

i wouldnt change my 916 for any other, not even for 848/1098.

  • Ok, i just googleg a Britten v1000 motorcyle. Is fucking ugly and sounds like a wasp. sry but seriously. cant compare to the 916

  • EXHAUST UNDER SEAT CAME FROM THE BRITTEN VTWIN

  • Not so sucsesful?14 WSB titles, think About it!!! Yerk

  • Ducati is not as successful as aprilia or MV Agusta in racing.

The desmo valvetrain was made redundant decades ago with proper metallurgy.

Why does it still have it? Because it brings service costs up, and service intervals up.

Sorry, I'll stick with the real italian race bikes over showy and overpriced.

  • It is unarguably a great motorcycle but no more so than a Vincent Black Shadow which one could class as the 916 of its day (1948) the machine at number 2 should be one that has changed the face of motorcycling in some profound way & as good as the 916 is it has not.

  • why does the silver 916 have "senna" on it? by the time this bike was made ayrton senna was dead?

  • Valentino Rossi has teamed up with ducati so the competition should just throw in the towel.

  • The first fuel injected 4V 851/888's started it all, they won 3 consecutive WSB championships too. The 916 was a more refined and elegant package, which built upon those ground breaking motorcycles. The Britten is an awesome machine, I was lucky enough to race (get blown away!) against one...that's showing my age...

  • looks likw they just did the best to copy john brittens ideas. the britten v1000 is the best bike of all time. it rides wheel stands besides these things when there going at at full twist. kiwis rule

  • sex on wheels

  • I didn't really understand how having the pulses come half as often helps accelerate smoothly out of a turn. Seems like as often as possible would be smoothest.

I know twins tend to have a more low rpm biased power curve, so until the bikes rev up, the twins make more power, assuming similar displacement and good design for both.

  • @medwards82 Was very poorly explained, and seems counter-intuitive to me too. Only thing I can think of is that breaking up the power pulses lets the tires alternate duty between acceleration part of the time and control or slide resistance part of the time. Something like anti-lock brakes that pulse between braking and steering. I don't think the "experts" on these type shows actually know what they are talking about in most cases, so maybe the lack of explanation is to be expected.

  • Its the stig!

  • what the hell's a "dewkoti"? do you think that American meant Ducati? lol

  • Tamburini style!!!

  • ugly ass bike, one thing i hate about ducati? - sounds like a fucking moped. japanese bikes are the best bang for bucks...deep down in your heart you know japanese bikes are superior...harley davidson suck also

  • @FullBloodedHmoob Fucking Jap idiot.

  • @fremont76 one word = ZX12R!!!!!.............DUMB FUCKING CRACKER, go watch your wife suck on a big black cock...animal porn loving nasty fucks

  • @FullBloodedHmoob Fuck you hiroshima bomb eating bitch ass slut. ol war parts bike ridn ass dick licking coffee table legged ass bitch

  • @fremont76 ,,,,that was one dumb come-back,,,table legged? LOL...GO EAT THAT RACCOON YOUR MOM IS BAKING

  • @FullBloodedHmoob Go sample some of that nuclear waste your bitch ass momma is puking up, short coffee table legged ass cunt.

  • @fremont76 fun trolling is fun!

how to troll a jeremiah wright video.

EASY! just mention the word nigger on the comments page.

  • nice,nice,nice,nice. i want one.

  • i've owned gsxr 1000's, 600's, and 750's , and i bought a 2002 748 S in november, it may be slower on top end, but in the corner's it's a dream to ride. I allways had a dream to own one as a teenager, and when i decided to buy a ducati, this model was the only choice. It's the greatest bike i've ever owned, and anyone who hasn't ridden one needs to. You'll fall in love with it too and never want to ride anything other than a ducati.

  • DHYEW-KHATIE

  • I Love mine!!!

  • ducati sucks, no fuckin topend power, and they look ugly as fuck...my zx-12r would rape any ducati

  • doesnt look as good as the bonnieville

  • Yeah. I have a 95 Strada SP lookalike & I'll never sell it.

  • I am sure it's fast and technically great. And I like fewer cylinders to ride myself (1 or 2). But pretty to look at? Well, matter of taste of course. For looks I prefer something like the CAFE RACER CB750. but then I've never been on one of those, might be a bitch to ride, who knows.

  • i have 1 since 10 years, and it´s still the most beautiful

  • ja geil is em wel

  • Yes, Kawasaki Z1 in...Y2K out!

  • There's way too many bikes that deserve to make this list but one was criminally left off, Kawasaki Z900, a cult bike.

  • This bike deserves to be on the list, for sure. Unlike the Y2K POS. What the hell were they thinking? I believe the Britten deserves a spot because, unlike the Y2K, it was a genuinely revolutionary, has influenced bike design, and had genuine racing success.

  • @tosgem Good call. Britten was a genius.

  • It is 1 Italian House agaist all Japanese. we are the only European Fortress left on the track. Far more advanced than Germans and anything else.

(except japan: we have to fight it out to know who is the best)

  • i have one......

    916 rocks.....

  • The 916 deserves a high rank, unlike the Y2K and Britten V1000 which were made in almost nonexistent numbers. I think a bike should have been made in at least the hundreds to be considered for this list. How can a great bike make a great impact on the sport if almost no one ever rode it? That's why the #1 bike is a 4HP stamped steel step-through. For this reason I'd put the CB750 ahead of the Duc, not that I like it more but the CB had a much bigger positive effect on our beloved sport.

  • @wsbill14224 the britten deserves its spot, it had great racing success and influenced bike design, it was a real step forward in concepts that were actually applied and successful on the race track. I agree with you on the Y2K, that is just a gimmick.

  • I like the way everyone argues about it being on here...

Timless. It is 15 years old and still looks modern. put it next to a gsxr or ninja from 1995....see why it's so iconic...it looks current 15 years later. This bike did alot for Ducati in the mid 90's in terms of WSBK and sales.

  • if rossi not with yamaha...hopefully lorenzo is...hahaha...but i think not all rider can get into ducati engine...stoner great...hayden?

  • SpeedingStudent:: "But keep telling yourself that Ducati sets the trends, as Yamaha wins yet another MotoGP title this year, and has a better street bike and warranty."

Its valentino who sets the trends. And it will be Ducati winning the GP when rossi switches to them in 2011. Yamaha would be nothing without him.

  • Bless RemyLeBleau for finally saying it- the Cub may have some sales figures, but it's never going to give you goose bumps, make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, or set world records anyone I know cares about....... 916 forever.... just wish I had one!

  • I don't care how indestructable the Honda Cub is... I don't care how cheap and available it is... 916 which spawned the 996, 998 and 748 before they changed the styling... Number 1 in my books

  • @RemyLeBleau Harley is No.1

  • @williameva no

  • @RemyLeBleau yes but the japs did copying this bike too later in the later in 1998 honda firestorm 1000 and suzuki TL 1000S OR R VERSION BOTH BIKES WITH V2 90 DEGREE ENGINE SAND THEY SOUND LIKE A DUCATI OR THE BMW K1200RS IS A AWESOME BIKE TOO

  • with this bike Ducati set the standards by which all sportbikes are produced since 1994.

  • @ducatisti1 imo the Britten v1000 set the standard...lol remember these thing's goin full stick and a v1000 doing a wheelstand beside it...these are great but the standard was set by the v1000

  • why having a r1 in any place?

  • i had a 748 before my r1 and i would get another one in a heartbeat

  • What a machine.I personally had 2 Honda, Hornet and Vtr, now I have a 996s.

No comparison can be made. It's like having real paint on the wall and having a photo of that paint. The feeling is totally different.

You'll never know if you'll never ride a Ducati, believe me.

Jamesandrew2000 and others, I would like to refresh your memory about the SBK.

From 1988 to 2008, Ducati won 15 championships, Honda 5, quite embarrassing I would say.

2009, seems to be Ducati the as usual, 1st @ 412 points.

  • Andrexsn, after reading your comment I should add that I meant that to say any bike could be 'modified' to be faster/quicker/better than any other. I agree with you about their apeal. There is always a bigger crowd looking at my Ducati than any of the other two dozen+ bikes lined up in a parking spot. Ride one and you're sold.

  • BigUriel , my TLs dynoed out at 121.8 bhp at the rear wheel last year at a Yamaha Demo days event. It did better than 2 RC 51s (they were pissed ) My suspension is not stock, Race tech springs (heavier) and gold valve damping in the forks. Bitubo shock replacement in the rear . Stock Rotary damper is gone .Ride height adjuster . Scotts steering damper , Full Yosh Exhaust , Airbox mods Techusion TFI . Anyway it's not even close to stock and is a much better bike than you'd think .

  • rvs55. Its ALL subjective my friend, and thats my point, I have never checked out a youtube clip of any asian bike and read a comment from a Ducati owner saying Jap bikes are shit. You seem to love your scream and others like big bore rumble. Better ? Japanese bikes are fast, nimble and disposible. Ever been to a motorcycle junk yard? You wont see many English or German bikes and exactly zero Ducatis

. Yes its past its prime... its over 15 years since its roll out !

  • You Asian bike guys still dont get it. Yes,Yes,Yes any japanese bike is faster and less expensive to buy and maintain than a Ducati. Those who have owned or at least ridden one understand there is something about their sound, handling, build quality and over all design that sets them apart. You are comparing apples and oranges.

  • You're only partially right.

Sound is subjective. Some would prefer the scream of an Inline 4 over the rumble of a Twin.

Handling, I would have to hand it to the Dukes. Full Ohlins shocks all around does give it good handling, but at a premium.

Build quality is all wrong. The Japs have the better build quality... and overall reliability.

Design, or asthetics is subjective too.

Overall this is a bike that's past its prime. It's a good bike, years ago.

  • hey guys its not all about speed its about peace of art .

  • i used to have a ducati i love it and i miss it. the problem is that all ducs are base on japanise bikes honda specially. rc51 will kill any v2 engine at any time . sorry but my ex duc was super nice but???

  • IT had mods and aftermarket Exhaust as did mine . Me and the Duc rider traded bikes for 5 mins . My TL is a 97 with full Yosh racing exhaust , ride height adjuster ,suspension done at both ends etc. You four Cylinder fans won't get the twins until you ride a few . I've owned a Gsxr 750 and a zx7 as well . Rode an R1 and a Hayabusa as well as lots of other bikes.I guess the best way to explain it is , what puts the biggest smile around your head .

  • I rode a 916 along side my Tl1000s and I gotta say My TL kicked it's ass

  • Seriously? The TL1000S? The widowmaker? The one Suzuki claimed to be more powerful than the Ducati but even with the bigger engine consistently dynoed at the same rwhp? That hog made with a cheap imitation of a Ducati trellis frame that got all wobbly at speed getting people killed in a straight line?

  • Its amazing what people forget about this bike. It is one of the greatest designs, and it has many great features, but other than the motor, it was not Ducati that made the 916 what it is. Every major Italian motorcycle that rocked the industry from the 70's til now was designed by none other than Massimo Tambourini. He founded Bimota, and designed Ducati's 916, and MV Agusta's F4. So when I take mine out for a cruise, I don't thank Ducati for this bike, I thank Massimo Tamourini.

  • Did you have something at your sender ?

  • Its a beautiful bike, but could it stand toe to toe with Yamaha YZR-M1?

  • The 916 wasn't designed as a MotoGP bike. So the answer no. But Ducati's GP9 can stand toe to toe with the M1 and then some.

  • It's a 15 year old street bike, how is that fair?

But don't worry, to take care of the M1 Ducati has the Desmosedici, which doesn't just take care of it, it humiliates it. As a matter of fact, now that Kawasaki has pulled out, Yamaha has the worst bike of the lot.

  • There are no bikes like ducati's desmo RR or 1198's....... PERIOD.... sound, style, history.... its like comparing a 10 sec civic w/ a ferrari.. u may beat the ferrari, but your still in a piece of crap car, who cares? and where did it get you? no where...............

BTW ducati was and is the trend setter for every fkn sport bike you see... cat eyes, single swingarm, frame, wheels, body, torque, list goes on.........................

  • amen

  • The R1, GSX-R 1000, CBR1000, ZX10R, are each more bike than your beloved Ducati...and none of them need me to rent out my spare bedroom to my mechanic to keep them running.

But keep telling yourself that Ducati sets the trends, as Yamaha wins yet another MotoGP title this year, and has a better street bike and warranty.

  • overpriced two cylinders of a ford v8

  • You know about the Ducati engine huh? Ever heard of the Desmodromic?

  • What? Wouldn't they sell you one?

  • I think the japs should have another go with twins. Most people seem to want more and more power, yet most don't learn how to ride a bike properly. power alone don't win races. Colin edwards won the race, not the bikes. The ducati was faster, but on another day colin might have lost the race. The first r1 that came out was getting great remarks. Then one day it was put up against a 916sps and the sps beat it round the track I get the idea from racers what the bikes can do but these ride impecably

  • frankly, both honda and suzuki had there chance at making a proper twin but couldn't quite deliver. The suzuki's TL was plagued poor engine reliability, and the rear suspensions rotary damper was suited more to a harley then a WSBK machine. Honda had good success with RC51 (SP-1) but the were heavy and wide. And after two seasons, honda began copying the bore x stroke dimensions of the ducati to try and match power output.

Sorry, but the ducati's had power curves and stability in spades.

  • haha, always get a kick out of this. I love how old Ducatis like the 916 are still iconic bikes and seem to sell for some decent coin and are desirable to own. Whats an SRAD gixx worth...like 2000$ hahahah. Flavor of the week bikes. Throw em away as fast as the new ones are relased...

  • Absolutely pointless comment since you are clearly neglecting the MSRP of the bikes when they were bought.

  • gsxrs are way better. this needs an update here. 1990's success: the info's like two decades old.

  • i don't see why anyone would invest so much money to put a big piece of plastic and fiberglass between their legs.

pretty much the most expensive vibrator you'll ever buy

  • Which is, of course, and excellent reason to buy one... 8)

  • Ducati's run on 1200cc because they have 2 cylinders and thus produce less power than a 4 cylinder bike, if they have the same cc's.

Since there is no restriction on the number of cylinders, the regulations correctly allow more cc's to make bikes equal on terms of maximum power.

On the GP races there is the 800cc max regulation so Ducati built the Desmocedici with a V4 engine.

Nothing stops other factories from builting 2 cylinder engines with 1200cc's.

    so Ducati isn't favored

  • BEST BIKE OF HISTORY

  • nice!

now i know where the 1st generation Suzuki SV650s got it's headlights styling from!!!

  • And that is why the Vtwins are superior! That is part of the reason why I love my SV1000.

  • And also, about the whiners and WSBK letting Ducati run 1200cc's....they ran the 999 with the jap 1000's and won in 2006. ID SAY THAT WAS LEVEL PLAYING FIELD.

  • They are all very capable machines. Twin VS I4 arguments are retarded. They both have their ups and downs. It's all opinions people.

Ducati has DTC though...that feature alone is worth the coin on the 1198S.

  • The Ducati is still down on HP from the i4's and still runs restrictors and more weight. The extra cc's were asked for due to the 999 motors being completely maxed out in terms of relibility. Twins have a long stroke with heavy pistons which makes the i4s dominate in top end and you can clearly see on straights. Honda had great success in beating Ducati with RC-51 in WSBK so why not build another one for the public.

  • Comment removed

  • I can't stand Ducati's, fugly bastards.

  • inline fours rule the fucking roost.. japs changed the game back in 1969 - the knob blisters who came up with this top ten list shouldd have done some actual homework -

ayy guido, twist the fucking rules around to keep that over priced twin from being little more than museum curiosity - lets run straight up cubic inch for cubic inch - fairness? equality? level playing field?

OH MOMMA MIA, WE CANT HAVE THAT!!!! italians are experts at tossing salads, enuff said..

  • Epic post. I agree.

Just like the Brits, the Italians had their time, now the Japanese dominate, and rightfully so. Their engineers do things the guys at Ducati can only dream of.

  • Masserby, you are obviously giving your bias opinion as you own a Ducati. i have ridden a and owned many bikes over the years, R1's, GSXR's ZX10's and you beloved Ducati's. It comes down to how you ride and what you personally prefer. bang for buck you cannot beat a Jap bike. try tell me any bike bought straight from the factory by ducati which has more sheer acceleration than the GSXR1000?

  • Truth...the Gixxer 1000 is one mean beast of a machine. It will totally ass rape a 1098/1198 on the track, cost less, last longer...and you can actually get parts for it in less than a month if you need them.

    Fuck Ducati.

I like my machines to last.

  • Fuck Ducati?

    Come on dude.

get quality not quantity. the Japs know us Americans will buy anything and we do. get something timeless and not just sumthin "everyone" has.

  • You claim Ducati has Honda and Suzuki beat on quality?! HA!

You ride your bike across a continent, and i will ride mine.

Let's see who needs a tow truck to pick them up for "technical issues" and who finishes.

Ducati quality...that's like saying Kia performance. Ducati quality...hahahahahaha! heh.

  • You sound like a hater dude.

Its a preference to me. I like the Ducati feel, looks and value for when i ever need to sell it. Jap bike will get you half of what you paid the next year. They have great top end but will spin out on you in a heartbeat in a turn. I like jap bikes but not for me.

  • Not a hater, I just want value for my money. Also, around here, Ducati deperciation is even steeper as a percentage of MSRP than the Japanese bikes.

I like my bikes to last. Something Ducatis are ot known for.

  • Cucati motocycles are not worth the money. It's a general known fact. it Definitely does not stand for quailty... You may say Ford's your preference, but what is not is not.

  • honda NR copy with electric problems and a funny seat who cut my inside leg after 20 minutes ride.

i ll stick on a jap anytime, an honda sp2 vtr please , ciao bella

  • i got a question for people who know about 916, 996 and 998:

how much faster is the 996 than the 916 and how much faster is the 988 than the other two?

i want on of these three bikes (they look pretty much the same right? or am i wrong?) and my 1st choice is the tru original 916, but if any of the other two are at all significantly faster, id go for the faster one.

and no, i do not have a chance to test ride them cause those bikes have to be shipped to where i live

  • THE BRITTEN IS WAY BETTER, IN EVERY WAY

  • To put this argument at rest they should race Ducatis in their own category. Even Ducati realized that a second set of cylinders were needed to compete against the top dogs of MotoGP; creating a masterpiece of a bike, the Desmosedici V4.

    2<4; do the math.

The power and looks of a V-twin are unique and exotic, yet no match for a Jap-bike.

However, if I had the money, I would own a 1098 and a Gix K9 or ZX10R; one for cruising/showing off, the other for raw unadulterated power.

  • thaaaank youuuuu

one sensible person, and shame on you for considering a ninja over a gixxer ))

  • Ducs success on the track is partially due to a generous displacement advantage. For the few recent years that WSBK allowed same displacement on the track, Ducs fell behind to the likes of GSXR1000/Corser in '05 & CBR1000/Toseland in '07. Ducati cried wolf and got once again a 98cc advantage.

Out of the box the GSXR1000 is the favorite priveteer bike; and one of the fastest pound per pound and dollar per dollar.

  • Ducati used to be a poor company and never had such good quality components as they do today. Ducati are engineers that have different ideas to the japanese. Japanese used to make as much power as they could get until ducati taut them a few lessons in racing. I own a ducati and believe me, when im out riding i find most riders are not so good at cornering but go fast in a straightline. My ducati has taut me how to ride better and I am a much better rider than i used to be.

  • I will agree with this to a point: sure, any monkey can go fast in a straight line(squids) on a GSXR, but on the track, the fours own them all (both riders having the same skill level).

Even Ducati uses a V4 now in MotoGP...that should tell you who taught who a little something on the track...

  • I wouldnt say the fours are the fastest on track. I know they faster but some of there speed is due to the rules. If you removed the restrictors off the current wsb 1098 then it would leave the fours behind on the straghts. Really its about making things even. Also the weight penalties were added to the 1098. The 998 has lapped faster than the motogp bikes at donnington in the past. If a twin can make enough power under the rules then its friendier better power delivery and handling can win

  • Im not saying a twin makes more power than a four for its cc but I know a twin that will beat a four on the straight and thats a norton rotary. 588cc and it is mega fast due to its wankel(rotary engine). I remember a time when it used to race until it got banned and it used to win and blow away the japanese fours with its smaller engine.

  • Um, dude...a rotary is not a "twin"...even if it has two rotors, comparing a rotary to a recipricating engine is silly.

    Apples and oranges.

Oh yeah, I love rotaries though.

  • Hey tool, you've clearly never owned a Duc, so your opinion means shit. And your desperate attempts to justify your Jap purchase reek of displacement (psychiatric rather than engine size) need. Get over your insecurities and off this thread. Shut up bitch.

  • Blow me.

I don't have to eat shit to know it tastes bad. I don't have to own a Ducati to know it is an overpriced piece of Italian shit.

Pick one: GSX-R1000, YZF-R1, CBR 1000RR, ZX-10R...set your 1098 against it one the track...and your beloved Twin is fucked.

    Get over yourself, fucking squid.

    Get lost, tosser.

  • lol wow you dont know shit about motorcycles! ducatis are NOT Italian shit!

  • My statement stands: Pick any Japanese litre bike and put it on a track against your beloved Ducati. It will be a swift and sound defeat for your Ducati.

I know Ducatis are shit because a few of my friends have owned them and will not be going back. Why? Because they are fragile Italian shit.

  • You left out Desmosedici RR. After all 4 cylinders is 4 cylinders...

  • Um, yeah...at only, what $72,500 USD plus TT+L?

Why don't we call the Corvette Z06 a piece of crap because it can't best a McLaren F1 while we are at it...

  • Hilarious. Are you, by any chance, a total noob?! Winner of World Super BIke last season (where they use basically the road legal versions you and I can buy) - ah yes, that would be a 1098. And who left MotoGP this week because of shit results and couldn't take the pace? Oh yes, manufacturers of your beloved ZX-10R. I DO ride a Ducati. And the only bit you got right is that it's Italian.

Let's speak again when you've finished therapy.

  • Kawasaki pulled out due to the global recession.

Wow. Ducati won WSB. Once. I am not impressed.

How many times has Suzuki dominated? Oh, not so smug now, "Ducatisti"?

Dollar for dollar, bike for bike, the Japanese make the finest...and they are LEAGUES above anything from Bologna.

  • Good try mate. But below find the WSB all time stats. Sorry chum. What was that about eating shit?! MANUFACTURER POLES PODIUM WINS 2ND PL. 3RD PL. TITLES Ducati 147 678 274 220 184 15 Honda 41 325 103 114 108 4 Yamaha 19 201 51 67 83 1 Kawasaki 19 163 35 57 71 0 Suzuki 17 113 28 38 47 1 Bimota 4 22 11 7 4 0 Aprilia 8 26 8 6 12 0 Benelli 0 0 0 0 0 MV Augusta 0 0 0 0 0 Petronas 2 2 0 1 1 0
  • Nice try, pulling that ut your ass.

  • Try the WSB website! I hope you ride better than you a) debate (here's a guy who said the Japanese tons would eat a 1098 on the track mere weeks after the 1098 won the World Super Bike season by whupping the Jap bikes into loserville on the, err, track; and b) speak Italian. (Ducatisti is the plural. So that'll be Mr Ducatista to you. Pwned. Again). Ooops!

Just for others reading be clear I'm no hater. Gixxers; R1s etc are brilliant, quality bikes. But Speeding Student knows jack about Ducatis.

  • Ducati: "Whaaaa! Whaaaa!!! Let us run our 1200cc Twin against their 1000cc fours or we are going to quit! Whaaaa! Whaaa!!!"

WSB: "Okay! Just quit crying already".

  • Bwahahahahaha! Take away the displacement advantage, then you can talk.

  • well when they let buells v twins run in super bike ohh wait we have larger dispacement lower rpm and more torque not mention handle alot with tons more stability

  • Buell...that is funny.

  • Shhh

Nobody wants to hear that. WSB lost me as a fan when they allowed that to happen.

    MotoGP went 4stroke :-(

What I want is a box rule. That is if the bike fits in this box it races.

  • I agree. You get a 1000cc limit, and it has to be naturally-aspirated.

Race what you bring: V- twins, parallel twins, triples, v-fours, inline-fours, whatever.

Now THAT would be a racing series I could get into!!!

  • For your information: MotoGP already allows this engines in combination with weights: v2/v3/l3 135 kg, l4/v4/v5 148 kg,

v6 158 kg, plus 10 kg with oval pistons e.g. a bike powered by a v6 with oval pistons will be 168 kg. Actually there are only l4&v4 because they are the right combination between performances and handling, and because of lower developing costs.

  • superbikes suck dick in general, supermoto is the best! we pwn superbikes on tracks!

  • ducati won once? lol...are you two years old? kawasaki pulled out due to several things all indexed to the budget required to make that turd competitive.

  • jap bikes...throwaway once the new model comes out. all about top end.

  • Sorry, but i'll stick with my Jap bikes till death. Not that you're buying lower qualitywith the jap bikes, but the jap bikes are the best bang for the buck deals out there. To me, the cost difference for the Euro bikes are not worth it.

  • the European Daytona 675 is cheaper than all the other 600s....

  • Yes...but good luck getting part in under a week when you need them.

Oh and dealer network in the US? What dealer network>}? The only bike worse to own is an MV Agusta. lol

  • It's not a race issue you lunatic. Japanese bikes and cars are efficient, reliable, powerful, and generally fantastic. However, they have no soul. They lack the intangible living, breathing feeling you get from some other manufacturers. Why else would you ride if not to love it?

  • dont say something doesn't have soul just because you cant feel it

  • Truth.

  • This should definately be the number 1 motorcycle. It looks fantastic, handles awsomely. Got power where its needed and plenty of rear wheel grip. I own a 900ss and the more i ride it the better it seems to handle. Ducati's are increadible bits of kit if you japanese riders would spend the time to learn to understand how they should be riden. There a different breed but get better tha more you ride them and there bloody good looking too.

  • v-twins sound absolutely phenominal

  • Never liked the headlights...

  • it should be the number 1...man i love ducati'

s... especialy an 916 ore the improved 998r.

    ducati italiaaa!!

  • I bet you just LOVE hanging out in your garage/with your mechanic, don't you? lol

But yeah, go snobby Italian bikes! Even if they are unreliable. lol

  • i bet you love when i punch you in your face dont you?

    NOT LOL

''oh yeah ducati's suck boe hoe ''

'' i cant afford them so i say there bad''

    ''boo hoo ducatis are bad''

    shut the hell up asshole

    ducati rules!!!

  • You ride yours across the US, and I will ride mine.

Don't forget to take your mechainc with you, you'll need him.

Japanese bikes: engineered by guys who actually went to university. lol

    Fuck Ducati.

  • oh you are an american? that says enough!ducati rules, its my favorite..and i dont give a fuck about your oppinion! end of descussion asshole!

  • "Ducati rules!"

    What are you, 12? lol

Don't let the facts get in the way, kid.

    Ducatis are unreliable, expensive junk.

Honda is built to LAST. You would know this if you ever owned one.

Enjoy hanging with your mechanic, mate. lol

  • kid? come here, i show you how a kid makes you cry ashole!

everybody has his own taste..his own hobby..mine is ducati..

you think that ducati's are unreliable..mayb because you are an american.and dont know that ducati need love.. attention.. bring it to the garage when its necessery..americans drive it till it says ''crack'.

but as i said..end of discussion brainless american

  • Oh Mr. Internet Tough Guy...your threats make me tremble! Oh how the world fears you little man! lol

"Need love...attention" These are excuses for shotty engineering.

I change the oil in my manchines every 1,000 miles, and I am ALWAYS early with my maintenance.

Your generalization of Americans shows the ignorance that you claim we Americans display.

Enjoy paying your mechanic $75/hr, and learn his name...

Now go burry your face into your mommy's breasts & cry, you little bitch.

  • hoeee big mouth american

tell me..why are there still people who drive ducati's ..especialy the 916,996 and the 998?

    why?

why are stil people have ducati's for years?

fuck off man, and i dont pay in dolars nitwit

  • It is simple, it makes them feel "elite", just like owning a Ferrari...but the Porsche, while slightly more common, lasts MUCH longer.

Ever actually own an Italian-designed machine? No? Then shut the fuck up.

Oh yes, and what glorious country do you hail from? Please, tell me of your awesome nation and it's glorious wonders that make people from ALL OVER the WORLD run to it in desperation seeking a better life! lol

    Is it France? Heh.

Go back to sucking your mommy's nipples for milk.

  • ducati with a small group of engineers have more race wins than any other jap manufacture.
