Awesome thanks for posting.. Those who saw this live are very lucky. Pat has never made it down to Australia but is very known to guitar players. I agree with flamecolumn well said brother!!
Utterly devastating. One of the best shows I've ever seen and I've seen hundreds.
Mars is the most underrated bassist of all time, a true genius. Tommy Aldridge was the most badass sonuvabitch drummer in the world and when he soloed and started beating his drums with his hands the audience went insane. Then you have two fantastic guitarists weaving in and out and around each other, both obviously having a great time. An amazing memory.
I saw him this year at the cow palace in san francisco must have been this tour had a good time that night with esther the molester plenty of everything to smoke
Saw Travers twice; Dec 78 opening for UFO (w/out Schenker :( ) & Outlaws & they stole the show !! Again in 80 as a headliner & they were mind-blowing !!The LIVE Go for what you know LP didn't come close to capturing how amazing this line-up could be . Too bad there seems to be scant footage of it.
Yeah..the Reading show would be great ..I've been listening to the audio for ages...originally when it was broadcast on the BBC Rock Hour and later when it was released as a CD on Windsong Records...that was a great show!!
i saw pat travers in san antonio (my home town) just before the crash and burn album was released. the opening act was 'scorpions' (first time in s.a.) then pat travers band, then sammy hagar headlined......OMG!!! LOL it was a totally HOT show! but honestly as a professional musician, my opinion is .... Pat Travers - Pat Thrall - Mick 'Mars' Cowling - and - Tommy Aldridge ...STOLE THE F***ING SHOW!!!!!
Do you have any other videos from this show? or the whole show... I'm looking for any good quality PT shows from the 70s and 80s... the only good ones I have is The 76 Rockpalast DVD and 90 Toronto DVD
This was the BEST rock'n'roll back then! Watch Pat Thrall, he's doin some of the guitar stuff kiddies do today even before they were thought of beeing conceived... *lol*
I would argue his prime (when this lineup occured) was in the late 70s. Crash & Burn came out in early 80 and was a great last record for this line-up. After that, Radioactive in 81 which was marginal at best and only featured appearances by Thrall and Alldrigde. Black Pearl in 82 was very good but Mars Cowling was the only remaining member from this lineup. Nothing stands out after that.
Oops, my mistake. I was thinking about the Live album "Go for what you Know" 1979 on PolyGram/Polydor. There's 8 songs on it. Wonder if there's any video footage of the same (?)
I think the Pat Travers Band with PT, Mars Cowling, Pat Thrall and Tommy Alldridge was his best line-up and the records he put out with this band were his best. BUT ... Black Pearl was a GREAT record ... the only one after Crash & Burn that held up compared to those others. No one is credited for cowriting I La La Love You. Who is your dad ... Alonso or Harris?
Fantastic. Thanks for the upload. I saw these guys on this tour in San Francisco at the Warfield Theatre and they kicked ass. I still have the tape I had my buddie's Mom tape for me off the radio of that show. The two Pat's, Mars and Tommy were definitely an amazing collection of musicians. Too bad it was not to last.
1 of the best live album go fo rwhat you know

Man, I get so angry with people that have a problem with Pat Travers. He cant play
clean or accurate enough for you .? but his ability to write the songs and sing them besides performing them still makes you knock him. Geez show
me all the great hits from Pat Thrall. other
then with Glenn Hughes.
MrSmokeydog 2 years ago
Travers is adequate, tends to ger lost outside the basic pattern. But Thrall was truly ahead of his time.

@srvcanada Hell Yeah his best lineup by far and his best albums were from
back in those early years. Puttin it Straight. Makin Magic, Heat in the Street and
Live " Go for What you Know ". most of my favorite bands are from Canada April Wine, Rush, Loverboy, Triumph, Bryan Adams
