wot tha fuk why cut the factory piece out all we do is bolt a stainless sheild on if ur cutting out the factory piece all u are doing is weakening the car, and if u bolt them on u can replace it if u crash it. man u guys in the usa are weird maybe u guys should come to nz and we show u how to bulid a proper car.
@boons07 you dont know anything about building a rally car, i have an ice racer its alittle different then this but its pretty well the same set up. dont talk trash about other guys cars when you dont know what your talking about..... anyways nice job man shes looking good! good project
@D14RACING I have built several race cars including world challenge BMWs and GT2 Porches. I built several rally cars and serviced for several teams including a former north american rally champion. I had to cut the rockers out for 3 reasons 1) they were thin from rust 2) I needed to get sandblast media out of them that was stuck in there and kept coming out when I rolled the car on the rotisserie. 3) I wanted stainless rockers and I didn't want the extra weight of leaving in the stock pieces.
Just a quick question now that I think about it.. What gauge stainless did you use for the rocker panel? I am guessing 1/16"? If that's the case, how did it hold up? I reckoned that 1/8" would be better for keeping Dents from happening, even though it adds a few pounds.
Agreed I like this, it's like Rides, but for us average joes (Or Rich's, or whoever's) who don't have access to millions of dollars of prep equiptment. Kudos mate.

@boons07 Please show me the rally cars that you have built. Otherwise your opinion is worth very little.
