Its good to see that the complete operation as been well thought out and seems to working well, untill some think breaks down that is,but. But lots and lots of happy customers at the end of the day,who will buy from them again.Spot on Amazon, but what happens when you have a problem with the item.?
I bought Peter Gabriel's latest album on LP from amazon.co.uk. It arrived with a ripped sleeve in a box that wasn't meant to accommodate vinyl records. SOMEONE SHOULD BE FIRED!!! 50$ for damaged product, unacceptable.
They treat their employees so well. Free benefits, free lunch, free vending machines and bunch of other awesome free stuff. You get 40% off and get paid to play games just to lighten the mood at work. They also throw an annual Christmas party and it's ridiculous. They rented out horseshoe casino in Indiana last year and had an open bar. Need I say more?
I do also have to say that to be fair, the actual job isn't too bad, and where i live, we ARE grateful for the work, but please Amazon, realise that your employees should be one of your best assets, we are human beings and we would like to be treated as such, not as interchangable, replacable, anonymous, "units". Although there will always be slackers, i would think that if you did treat people fairly, most people would respond and give it their best shot, helping Amazon to move on as a company
Despite all these advances Amazon Jeff Besoz is a real Asshole , he steals intellectual property from authors, and publishing companies, he steals debit funds from buyers and sellers, from partners- underpay their employees and treat then like children. All to inflate Amazon stock. Which has been slowly shrinking for weeks now. Jeff B you are an Ass treat you employees with respect and paid a fair wage.
@youman1933 I work for amazon.co.uk and I get paid £6.80 per hour, you can't even stop working for 10 minutes without getting a message saying "Please resume picking". You work an 8 hour shift and get only 30 minutes break 4 and a quarter hours in. Then, we find out we have compulsary overtime starting and can't refuse to do it as it is "compulsary".
@gangsta778 Too right mate. Worked for them twice, & after looking for work elsewhere it's looking likely that it will be a 3rd time this xmas. They are trying to find people to work for them, so desperately that it is constantly advertised in the local Jobcentre every day, and about 10 agencies are trying to find workers for them. But people have worked for them and got burnt before, some people giving it their all, only to get sacked for a silly mistake or treated like crap for their efforts.

@duguder it may as well be, and what do you exactly by "primitive" what were really expecting? were you expecting to see someone press a button and the things magically appear.
@Giroutte The cart guy probably take 15 min to fill any order even if on rollerblades. I don't want to give my idea for free but I just hate stupidity. When people click pay a signal should send to coil springs and turn them 1 rev. A conveyor belt would drop them to the corresponding box. 3 min max (and not "within hours") and no human involved. If Amazon can use this idea then they should Paypal me or shell I say Amazpay me?
@duguder well if they do all that, there wouldn't be job for the people and that would be a major disaster, and the machinery that you're pointing out would be expensive, since you never saw a amazon warehouse in person you my think of it as "primitive" when it actually isn't since I've been in one in a school trip and I was actually amazed how things worked there, so you shouldn't really criticise it since you don't really know how the actual place looks and works
@Giroutte Sorry for harsh word, I just unload it here from being boomb by many stupid news. china train wrech with no back up power. Fukush, nuke would stay happy if you just feed water throughit. We talking about nations with incredib stupidity. I'm 4 labor not for featherbeding. We would want the world to move forward optimaly. Tech should advance with higher taxes that fedback to peple so they can be product memb societe. Igoby vid w the guy pushing cart, no wondermypack take2 weeks
@duguder and your idea sound rather expensive, they're paying people to do what you sai, its cheaper for them and works just as fine, there would be no point on taking people's job away.
@duguder it wouldnt matter if it took 10 miutes or 4 hours, the longest part of the process is after it leaves the building. the quickest delivery is next day so nothing would be gained......oh, and i worked in the swansea depot so i do have some idea of what i'm talking about.
I worked in a similar place almost 2 years ago, at a FEDEX shipping warehouse near where I live. I worked there for a short time and lost a little bit of weight in the process, but gained almost all of it back when I quit. But it was worth it for the short time I was there.
Yes its hard work labor inside Amazon but the name says it all "Amazon" its a giant online store. Its either humans working hard and earning some income or being replaced by robot machinery! They give great customer service but treat their employees like shit but that's in every major store as well like Fry's Electronics or Walmart or McDonald's etc....
I worked at the Nashua NH (BOS1) center, for Christmas, last year. It was a great experience, but man, I don't ever need to do it again. All the stress, constant worrying about making rate, losing weight (The sickly pale-skin kind of weight loss), watching them fire people in front of you, which I thought was low class. I work now at the HP plant, doing the stress-free version of the same job; When there's no work, people sit and do crossword puzzles. Amazon is like fulfillment center bootcamp.
Hard work... hard work is all I can say. You need an epic pick rate so you don't piss off your superiors. I work at one of the FC's and it's pretty much 8 hours of power walking and box lifting. Two minutes without a pick and you get a warning. Those totes are a nightmare to manage when full. I got a 200UPH a few days ago over an 8 hour shift and it was hard

Then you work there for ten minutes and you just want to take a shit into somebody's Jamie Oliver cookbook.
