  • Yes, same as the other 17 fellows who thumbed up this vid so far - what a great looking finish for that adventure :D

  • @slider2732 -------Now the question is --what did I learn from all this? LOTS!! It was time well spent.

  • While I have a couple other projects on the bench right now, following along on your study of the radio has inspired me. I have ordered some parts and look forward to having as much fun with this as it looks like you have. BTW - I enjoy a good cigar on weekends and the store I buy from sells empty boxes, $4 each, and some are really nice looking. Kudos!

  • @OUbrads-------Thanks. I can see a really nice cigar box made into one of these. These are not hard to build because the ICs do most of the work for you.

  • so cool :D looks like something I would buy for going on a holiday^^.

  • @UrCoffeeTastesToasty ----Thanks. It would be fun to take this somewhere far from home and see what kind of stations it would pick up. The best reception seems to be in the evening.

  • Lidmotor is getting fancy! Nice job, that's awesome looking. It's always a good feeling to close the lid on a project box or whatever, when you've somehow managed to fit a plate of spaghetti worth of wires into a tiny space! :)

  • @mrBr00k5 ----- These projects usually start off with just a few "noodles" ( like the crystal radio) and end up as full spaghetti dinner. This time I drew up a circuit diagram and glued it inside the lid so I can remember what I did. The old radios usually has a circuit diagram in them so someone could fix them.

  • Thats nice. those old radio, especially the tube types have such a mello sound . I have a 46 model and one that I dont know the age of yet , one plays and has 2 arms that play a 45 and a 78

  • @ET2uscg -----Yes the old tube setups were very mello sounding. I remember.

  • Just remember that sometimes the mess of wires can be a great point of fascination and intrigue for people that don't make electronics, but never the less, the simplicity of your design is timeless. Good work!

  • @Objectivityiskey ------Thanks. I remember as a kid looking in the back of the TV and radio and wondering about all that stuff. I also remember my Dad telling me to keep my fingers out of there or I would get shocked. It all looked so mysterious and dangerous.

  • Great radio! Building it brings an interest of listening to AM lol. I would like to know... Is the reception better using a mk484 ic, i mean comparatively to a crystal radio with no battery and amplifier on the sound only? Nice work!

  • @iluzyon1 ----Thanks. This radio using the MK484 ic is much better that the crystal radio that I built BUT ---I have seen some beautiful advanced crystal radios that would probably knock the socks off this one as far as reception. Crystal radio is alive and well and they hold competitions regularly.

  • That is really nice. You did a great job on that. Thumbs up!

  • @96sunvalley -----Thanks. It was a good way to end a fun research project.
