  • They travelled in dead of winter because then rivers, etc., were frozen over so they could cross.

  • Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't the dead of winter a bad time to take a wagon with your family out into the Minnesota wilderness?

  • I'm still child 6-7 year old .., watching this serial film on TVRI (Indonesia) every Sunday , I just have the pictures in memory, because I can't read yet (hehehehe..) to reading subtitle on the screen .. I'm remember this film familiar with name as "Film of London" .....

  • i have to watch these at school

  • i dont get it i have the first season of little house on the praire... i know this is the pilot but isnt the pilot the same as the first episode, like on friends the first ep is called Pilot :L

  • @Ian2CoryLoveeer

this was a tv movie. after its success the series was considered. therefore this is not part of the series but is considered the pilot because it is the springboard for the series.

  • 5:52 cryin a river

  • I watched almost ever single one and cried in ever single one!!! I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!( a Melissa Gilbert is so pretty!)

  • The TV series can't do the book justice. They did a good job though. I was crazy about the Little House series when I was little, still am. My sister and I used to play Little House all the time and we loved horses!

  • I love this show!! What a beautiful Pa Charles was!!!

    DDG Mike!!!

  • i was so upset in the l8ter seasons jack dies :'(

  • Please tell me the first sentence.

  • I've haven't this show in ages!

    It's so good!

  • @CaraBrimleyRules MG was even the biggest star of all, together with Michael Landon! MSA was just boring compared with this two!

  • Meu Deus!!!

Eles estão todos tão jovens aqui!

My God! I love so much this guy!!! I love Mike!

  • What happened to Black Susan, there cat, and isnt Uncle George an army man?

  • How could anyone ever dislike this show? This was the best show of it's time; and, the best show to date.

  • @sumwear7 Melissa Gilbert sucked, but M S-A was a star. MG ruined the show. MSA forever!

  • @CaraBrimleyRules Wasn't she the stupid blind skank!!??? I HATED her!! Melissa Gilbert was the true star!! They couldve killed the ugly dog also!!

  • @MrAmericanzombie Check out M S-A and Melissa Gilbert now. M S-A is a true beauty, Gilbert is an ugly MINGER who has stacks of plastic surgery. Gilbert could never act either she was a USELESS TART.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE <3

  • OMG. I am searching for this TV series and I found it. Wonderful! My first fav TV series. Thanks

  • did "jack"play Benji?. In the book Jack was a bulldog!

  • I wonder Y he Picked Two girls With the Same name?.

  • @blueangel123ful doubt it was intentionally, prolly casted them before ??? :))

  • fucking sick dudes

  • I know a gangster guy in my college who says this is his favorite show.

  • if of all carrie was reallly born in kanasas really tho if you dont belive me i read a biograph of carrie ingalls swanzey k

  • @xXDropDeadJamieXx I know, the show was really different than what really happened.

  • I watched all the episodes of this show - didn't have much of a life =)

  • @TheAuntiechris This show can only IMPROVE a person's life! Bless.

  • In the book, Jack goes UNDER the wagon, and before going to the water Laura asks if they can take him in the wagon, but Pa says he haves to swim, but after that they think he's dead, so they go away. Then at night, when they are camping, Laura sees green eyes and says it's a wolf, but Pa shouts and throws a stick to make sure. He has his gun, just in case. But then they find out it's Jack...COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!!!

  • @chriscata99 but Pa says he HAS to swim...SORRY!!

  • @chriscata99 thats what happened in the book, but it's an exaggerated version of what actually happened, the books aren't completely accurate.

  • The girls that pay Carrie are adorable

  • One of the few times I just wanted to shoot Charles. Put the dog in the wagon, you shit head. Why couldn't poor Jack ride in the wagon???

  • @12burgundy in the book, poor jack is walking for weeks, under the wagon. And Laura ask BEFORE they go into the water, if jack could ride in the wagon, but jack must swim over. When they think jack is dead, charles is more worrid about losing a gaurddog, and he "almoust" shoot jack becuse he think he's a wolf, when jack returns. Caroline is more worrid about them awakeing carrie, then the returning of there dog. (so i like this version i bit better then the book) :-)

    (sorry for me bad english)

  • i cant believe this whole set burnt down sigh...........

  • Charles Ingalls : the Jack Bauer of the 70's.

  • whers the suburban?

  • BEST SHOW EVER! This show taught us important life lessons, that people need at any age and also that WILL NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE I wish TV was this good nowadays. This show taught us that FAMILY is the MOST IMPORTANT THING THERE IS, AND ITS TRUE! Its very timeless, and will live on forever. I am 26 years old and I am glad I grew up with this show it really shaped who I am as a person. :) Everyone on this planet needs to watch this show and learn from it.! :)

  • @maleficentdiva Yes this show was good and talked about many topics, and important things of life such as family, helping each other, sharing, sense of effort and work, perseverance, many things that tend to disappear.Especially sense of effort and sharing.A series that showed how to be happy in life with simple things and a great deal of love.

  • @maleficentdiva: Not only will it teach you family values, but it teaches you our material world is not necessary to achieve happiness. It teaches us that we have taken simple pleasures for granted as well as a simple honest lifestyle. It also teaches us the value of self sufficiency, grocery stores, and fast food restaurants are effortless and convenient, running water and heat are nice, but how many of us could survive with out or material comforts?! There is much to be gained here.

  • This show makes me proud I live in Minnesota! I always thought Laura was adorible:) And it's nice my name is Melissa *Melissa Gilbert* When I was in third grade we had to chose to dress up as someone famous and I dressed up as Laura Ingalls, while my friend was Britney Spears. LOL!

  • I have most of the Little Houses in DVD sets but I do not have the pilot . Do you know where I can buy it?

  • did you try amazaon!

  • Thanks for posting;dont recall ever seeing the pilot. I loved Karen in this show;she was so cute. Would have thought it'd be hotter in the wagon, than out. Always thought Mary was cuter than Laura

  • i luv it!

  • perfect,loved that serie

  • Oh my God, this is exciting.

    "Charles!"

  • One of my favourite tv series of my childhood years!!

I was watching every day and i didnt lost episode!!!

  • why did the grandparents keep the horses on the wagon

  • They wouldn't put out this Show anymore....it's "too Christian"...the lefties would pitch a fit! It was a great show though...IK was lucky enough to be a kid watching this and enjoyed it very much!!

  • @pieceomeat There was nothing "right wing" or "left wing" about this show.

  • I still think if they brought this serries back (showed the re-runs) they would do good.

  • I watched the show throughout the 70's and 80's. Always admired Laura's SPUNK!! LOL!!

  • Is the pilot on any DVDS because I have a dvd of the series that starts out with season 1 Harvest of Friends?

    Alisa

  • Ingalls! nem Engels te faszkalap!

  • anyad a faszkalap es szarjal sunt

  • It's "Ingalls" dumb ass. You are the only joke! !

  • i am buyin the dvd and mag issues but do not hav this episode... does any1 no were i can find all episodes of LHOTP?? Thats the only episodes with these actors though.. thanks

  • Ebay!!!

  • thanks for posting the serie

  • Thanks for this loved this as a kid in the 90's when they showed the re-runs. had a chuckle @ 5:39 when Caroline asks how the dog found them, sounds like charles said 'we stink' lol

  • intresting I never knew Michael Landen stared in LHOTP.

  • He starred in it, wrote, casted, directed, and produced it.

Don't know how you could ever watch it and not realise.

  • I LOVE this show, even the reruns. Thanks for sharing this with us. It teaches

    so many life lessons:-)

  • i always liked the name laura

  • i love little house on the prarrie this is a best thing that i wached and jack is sooooooooo cutttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeeee

  • He is cute here. I wonder why they used a sheepdog for Jack, though. In Laura Ingalls Wilder's books, Jack was a brindle bulldog.

  • Michael Landon saw Barney (the dog who played Jack) and loved him so much he decided that he would be a perfect Jack.

  • I figured it was something like that, or that Barney was already trained. He was a sweetheart, though.

  • "The bible says thou shalt not argue before breakfast"

"Thats not in the bible Charles"

    "It oughtta be"

    LOL

  • little joe ha ha

  • laura was the cutest kid ever no doubt about it

  • I love the 1800's very much and I have a bonnot and a nightcap.I live off nature and all but I do use the computer every once in a while to search the 1800's. I am a Christian and I love Little house on the prairie and Melissa Gilbert and Melissa Seu and Micheal Landon and Linsey and Cidney and Carrloanne are my favorite people on Little house on the prairie and later on Almonzo to. I know Carrolannes real name but I always forget it.

  • que lindo ver este capitulo, ya que a latinoamerica nunca llegó completa la serie y ahora después de tantos años poder verlos es maravilloso, gracias a quien lo subió a internet.

  • Apa, Buksi kiszökött XD

  • I always though it was messed up that they didnt put Jack in the wagon in the first place. But it may have been planned this way so he can come find them later so we viewers can be in "awe". I love Jack!!!!

  • This part is done exactly like the true Laura Ingall's book. Jack walked behind the wagon during the entire trip. And he was lost for a while after crossing the water... but, later, he met back up with them. I'm not sure why Charles didn't put Jack in the wagon. The book doesn't explain why.

  • oh, i've never seen this before.. is there a way to upload the full episode? that would be soooo kind of you!

  • Laura's concerned about Jack she is wondering where he is and suddenly hears whimpering.

  • The Little House in the Big Woods, I read that as a little girl.

That's the only book that mentions Mr. 0lsen and, all it says about him, is he ran an Indian trading post and killed a bear with his bare hands. Then the editors footnote said, dispite Mrs. Wilder's optimism according to the historic record it"s more probable that the bear killed olsen, rather than the other way around.

  • oh, I love the show, got all seasons on dvd for my bday ;)) but there's no pilot included...

great that I can see it here!!!

  • My mother and I lived 1300 miles apart from one another, one of my favorite memories is when she and I would put LHOTP on tv at the same time and call each other and watch it together over the phone. Mom is gone now 1 yr. and when I watch every episode, I always think of her. Thank-You for bringing us together across the country for at least 1 hr a week !! Priceless.

  • You must love Little House on the Prairie as much as I do. Thanks for this video.

  • i wish there would be a better word than thanks to thank youtube for this wonderful pictures

it took me back through the years when i was a boy and how sweet it is to hear to the voices of the Ingalls especially to the sweet Laura in English language because i saw all the episodes in french it is really like walking in a sweet dream

  • they're so small :) ♥

  • Oh man I remember being so upset when I reaed the part where they crossed that river without Jack!!!

I much prefer the book. And you know how the pictures you have in your head when you read are always so different when it comes to screen? I prefer that too.

  • lol i just read the book im almost finished i need 1 more chapter i read that they had forgot jack and i was so sad and then i saw that he swims across and i got all happy again! lol

  • i am collecting the mags with the dvds and well... how come i eint got this one?? is not goin on dvd or somin??

  • i love this movie's book!!

  • Oh my goodness! Little Laura's voice is so adorable! I havent seen this episode in YEARS. THank goodness for Youtube!!!

  • That dog is so cute

  • I am the biggest LHOP fan. I loved this show growing up and have lots of the episodes on tape. Some day I plan to go to De Smet and the other places that Laura Ingalls went.

  • it is the fisrt time i watch this program in english

  • should've put the dog in the wagon. Melissa Gilbert was so natural as Laura. perfect acting. surprise she didn't win awards or become more successful as an adult actor.

  • poor dog

  • @dhom100 she has good acting but she dosent fit the discription. laura has sholder length hair. this girls hair is to the middle of her back. plus laura has bangs. the rest is perfect.

  • @gosselinsrock02

I have the books. She looks like she should, with brown hair always in braids no bangs, and small made. The only thing she doesn't have is blue eyes. Only when she's an older teen does she have bangs, curled bangs. And Almanzo is supposed to have very dark hair and blue eyes.

  • i have every season on dvd and the three movies that came after

  • why are u watching online than?\

  • Because sometimes the episodes people post have scenes that aren't on my DVDs that i would never have known they existed. The DVDs are cut out sometimes.

  • hi do you know what is this season

  • It is season 1. The pilot is the very first episode.

  • it is the movie that came before the series began.

  • i love this show

  • I'm a married man in my 40s and I've been a 'Little House' fan ever since this TV movie aired in the early 1970s.

My wife and I have seasons 1 through 7 on DVD and we enjoy it together. It brings us back to a simpler time, before home computers, cable TV, VCR/DVD players, and cell phones.

  • alright, i'm a guy, i'm not gay, and i love the show!! although i do not tell my friends this! lol! i grew up with this show! i still watch any time its on t.v. the books are like reading history! it is surly one of the best shows ever created!!

  • @efc7493 What does being gay have to do with liking this show? If you like the show, it means that you have good judgement. :) And yes I agree with you this show is the BEST show ever created. Its very timeless and will always live in. It teaches you important life lessons, that WE ALL NEED AT ANY AGE. And also that FAMILY is the most important thing there is. :) oh and by the way, I am gay. :)

  • @efc7493: The books are like reading history? The books are history. Makes me want to be a pioneer. This show is great, the books are that much better, and this account of history is inspiring. And if your friends can't accept your tastes, then they are not friends at all.

  • @efc7493 you dont have to be anything but have compassion , this was a truly wonderfull show , i loved it growing up in alaska , i now live in Iowa , about 2 miles from her home in burr oak , , her house still stands , what luck , and with that its truly like her life the people here are just as great , my daughter got cancer a rare and deadly one , Undifferanted sarcoma ,

  • @efc7493 lolzzz itz cute to know

  • I have to say that everytime I watch this is upsets me that they just let the dog run behind them.....why not put him in the wagon with the girls for crying out loud.....

  • i love this show! BRING IT BACK ,why can't you start at with the pilot and go for there. MILLIONS of people love watching why did you take it off air?

  • I always wondered why they didn't just put Jack in the wagon.

  • because that's how she wrote it in the book --

  • Laura at 1:08! hahaha She's the cutest thing ever. :)

  • Omg I started crying when they found Jack. Happy tears. :)

  • i started crying too

  • laura is goofey what a geek!!

  • aw, this show is so cute

  • Aww ty Ibangotti for helping to answer that mystery . Now I know .

  • is my favorite serie

  • Does any one know what happened to Carry the youngest daughter ? She vanished in the later episoded's .Just as as Chuck from happy days did .

  • she didn't vanished. She was in all the other episodes when she was a little older but when the family left walnut grove and left laura and her family behind, carrie and mary were not in those lhose last episodes.

  • I own this pilot, and whenever I feel like really slowing down and relaxing for the night will play it. It never ceases to bring me pleasure and I thank M.Landon & K. Grassle for the memories!

  • i don't think they could have picked a better person to play charles. i wish i could have known michael landon. rest in peace, mr. landon.

  • this show makes me cry all the time ... laura is such a cutie in this season ... if u watch season 9, then season 1 u will realise how cute she is

  • oh, where are the kleenex? this show always makes me cry! i just love it though...like some many that have already commented; this show is a part of my childhood, so many good memories.

  • oh man, i love Little House on the Prairie!!!!!

  • The first episode of one, if not the greatest show ever. This show is awesome. This is what society needs a whole lot more of today. To hell with reality TV, kids and their parents need more of this type of show. Kids today are raised on brainless, heartless, greed obsessed, terrible programing. If there was a show that truthfully portrayed Pioneer spirit, this is it. This show in fact knock Punky Brewster and Small Wonder two of my other favorite shows from the top spot.

  • Sorry, I ment to say Knocked Punky Brewster and Small Wonder out of the top spot.

  • your so rite

  • I completely agree with you. :D

  • That's the real life, traveling with your family and making your own living. No one to work for.... I think of how nice they lived and I feel like a slave. It would be impossible now to live like that..

  • its the HIGHLIGHTS not everything

  • this is classic. my mom when a kid, always read the books. Oh ya, is this movie skipping parts?

  • wow i loved this show and the books.

  • wow, Michael Landon was such a cutie!

  • The sappiest, most overtly sentimental program in television history. I loved every single moment. I was raised on this show. I can't think of Michael Landon without smiling. They should show this program to Islamic Fundamentalists. Nothing else in the world could bring morality and dignity together and entertain you at the same time. You can forget about the whole world and be to taken to a better place for 1 hour. Thank you for posting this.

  • i couldnt agree more!

i have the series on dvd up to season 6 i will have the entire set soon

    i read all the books............

this show is me my childhood wrapped in a ball of memories that i will always chresish and never give up!

  • Can you post whole episodes up instead of highlights?

  • i am going to post the whole episode

if youtube let me to upload vids with

    more than 10 minutes

  • is Jack a Bearded Collie (or Beardie mix breed) ???

  • "Didn't you find Jack, Pa?" -"No."

Yeah he washed downstream in 3inches of water!

  • lol true!

  • where did you you get this???

  • Haha that water is so shallow! in the book I pictured something VERY high, like the book describes.

  • Half-pint grew up, but little Carol-Ann never seemed to get any older!

  • who is Carol-Ann?

  • it's carrie not carol-ann. carrie's full name was caroline celestia ingalls.

  • I love these books so much and this version is wonderful

  • his wife is preety

  • i have a male cat whom i sometimes call "patty".

  • thanks for sharing your life story with all of us.

  • Is it my imagination or are parts cut out of this? THere seems to be some gaps.

  • rudolf does never post whole episodes.. sad enough.

  • I've never seen the pilot. Actually I haven't seen seasons 1-5 with the exceptions of a few episodes. I've never read the books. However, I've acquired a liking to this show. :)

  • i dont like how her pa doesnt have a beard

  • Same here Dixxie, Pa was known for his Fiddle playing and his whiskers.

  • I hope he learns to listen to her lol.

  • I love Laura's face at 1:10

  • Melissa was so cute in this episode. Aww...

  • She's was such a sweatheart.

  • i love this show so much it is like so nice and cool to me so love it love it love it k

  • fantastic!!! fair play why dont they start showin this again on tv!!!

  • aw. Memories. I used to watch this with my dad. Big softie!

  • I loved wathcing this when I was little. I think my mum loved it aswell when she was little!
