  • She IS a swan... She's better than Zakharova in this role...

  • i would love it if i could watch this without bawling

  • The best since Pavlova....

  • @loulie1997 AGREED. not even Paulina Sem. can touch her.

  • What a beautiful and graceful dancer, when she's dancing she's out of this reality, she's just sublime!

  • Ballet isn't just a dance style- it's an artistic medium.

Like any other paint or piece of charcoal, you can use it for technicality, precision, accuracy- or you can use it to truly convey the spirit of beauty.

  • Sometimes she looks like Rachel Weisz!! o.O

  • Yes, princessystuff is correct ....She is the Swan ....Fantastic!!!!

  • What I see is not a ballet dancer. I see a beautiful, yet wounded swan that is fighting against death with a desperate wish to stay alive... Heartbreaking, really. But oh so beautiful...

  • So perfect, and I must say, the orchestra is beautiful as well!

  • I think I know what she will be reincarnated as. :)

  • Incredibly beautiful without a doubt, but she looks deathly skeletal. :(

  • @kpop2jpopfan I thought the same thing. Gorgeous, but I worried about her health.

  • Noooo don't die :'(

  • She lets her wrists go too much, and @princessystuff is right

  • @retteuns That's the choreography though... It's a tool to help create that wounded, life draining away quality that everyone is raving about. Notice how she starts the dance with well-placed wrists but as her character dies, the wrists start going making her look weaker. It's a nuance thing and a powerful nuance at that.

  • LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THIS!

  • danced to this last year :)

    \

  • Wonderful!!!!

  • Don't even need to comment on Lopatkina's performance as the music of Le Cygne is enough to bring one to tears.

  • Le Meilleur rôle de Ulyana Lopatkina est la partie dans "The Legend of Love" - un balet azerbaïdjanaise par - Arif Melikov. Compositeur azéri Grande

  • she fascinates me! i would LOVE nothing more than to see her perform live.

  • Thee best Dying Swan Ever.

  • this dance was created for anna pavlova to dance, and she dances it better, though i have to admit that uliana dances it quite beautifully

  • the perfection named uliana lopatkina

  • She makes me cry, She's WONDERFUL.

  • she is by far the best swan

  • Are these wings or arms? Do her feet touch the ground at all??? o.o Her dying swan is simply divine!

  • Comment removed

  • makes me want to cry... its just that beautiful

  • Really perfection without being saccharine. Bourrees are phenomenal, and her arms are just not human. That kind of artistry cannot be totally taught--she has unique physical gifts and an artistic soul. I always thought Plisetskaya was the best, but the river of Time flows on....

  • Even the conductor is spellbound.

  • Uliana is the best ever. She is the Swan!

  • I am not a ballet expert but compared to other ballerina's interpretation of this. Uliana's is the best.

  • i am not ofthe moved by dance, but this is incredible

  • She really is special

  • Lopatkina is the best!!!!

    Brilliant!!!!

  • i teared up!

  • That moved me to tears. Brilliant.

  • just look at those arms...

  • OMG!!!

    she's perfect!!!!!!!

  • I like it! It doesn't seem like she's dancing ballet. Looks like she's using ballet to dance the role of the swan. i know im kind of not making sense but it does to me.. :P

  • absolutely logical and accurate comment

Technique as an instrument of her interpretation

  • Woaah. Think my head's getting big! :P Saw your channel. You're like, a pro on ballet! so many videos.. O.o

  • No that makes complete sense I totally agree with you :)

  • thank you (:

  • @princessystuff - i agree 100%

  • I wish I had watched this before I performed this dance three years ago. I was very literal with all the movements, but she shows how to make it all artistically interpreted without compromising the routine of the variation.

  • fucking russians , why the heck they are so great on everything.............

  • cuz we are!!!!!!

    cuz we are very serious

  • I think that the comparatively long length of Lopatkina's torso, limbs, hands and feet only add to her ability to interpret movements. This is not to take away from her technical ability, which is just stunning. However, with added lengths come added difficulties to control--as Pavlova also knew. Very beautiful.

  • Gorgeous! Most beautiful dying swan I've ever seen. Her movement is incredible and technically perfect. Love to watch her performance again and again.Touches me deep inside!

  • Bravo!

  • Beautiful and moving. Even the conductor seemed on the verge of tears.

  • This brought tears to my eyes.

  • Touching and beautiful , both music and performance :)

  • Can someone imagine how long it took to her to dance like this? How many parties that she has not gone? Practice, practice and practice, to give us a so beautiful moment like this. Rodrigo.

  • @romalisan ahahha..!

  • @romalisan parties? lmao. I've never had or been to a single party, not even a birthday party and I can't dance/sing/play an instrument AT ALL.

  • Beautiful!!, she is so full of grace and her interpretation of the role is great, so much emotion. Wonderful technique, beautifull arms!!. Bravo!!

  • shes amazingly good at portraying a dying swan. im touched

  • Ask a child to pretend that they're sad and are they going to do? make a " crying " face.

Exagerated expressios are the most obvius solutions... that's why I think Uliana is perfect in this role... we can see the melancholy and the sadness in her eyes and the way she moves.. and THAT is a really difficult thing for a ballerina to do .

  • You are so stupid that is not ever Pretty.....sorry but your comment about this performace was totally out place, they all have their own style and tecniques , and can't be judge comparing with other performances

  • I don't even remember writing that I swear, but this was a terrific performance.

  • this isn't from swan lake

  • no its not, its was choreographed by Fokine for anna pavlova in 1905. Anna didn't have the strongest technique (weak feet) but she was very lyrical and expressive. Maya Plisetskaya is also famousfor her interpretation. I also like galina ulanova and nina ananiashvili, but lopatkina's my favorite!

  • i kno- i was correcting someone else lolz

  • She's so young...and she can already be such a wonderful Swan....she's perfect!!!

  • her arms are creepily bony...

  • I like much more Ananiashvili. (I'm not georgian neither a ballerine)...

  • i'm playing this for UIL Solo & Ensemble and that was amazing. the emotion was fantastic. in a way this helped me cause now i know what emotion i need to use and what thoughts i need to be using. ES MIR GUT!

  • i am dancing this Dying Swan, but not so good as Uliana!

  • This is amazing. Im doing this dance at the ritaco center next month. i've been watching this over and over so that i can try to dance with the same emotion and grace. As a dancer i look up to her.

  • She is amazing!! Incredible!! Every time I watch her dancing this piece I cannot help the emotion. Wow!!

  • VIVA LOPATKINA! She ist the Primaballerina assoluta!

  • INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! SHE ARE THE BEST

  • this is very pretty but does it really take about 3 and a half minutes fir a swan to die???

  • Swansong, much?

  • well this video is so beautiful and exited and she is a perfect ballerina because she adopted the feling the swan dead.

    congratulathions for her...

  • Trnascendental! One of the most tragic swans ever. The work with the hands is amazing and reminds me of Plisetskaya. Lopatkina is the ruling Queen of ballet right now and for the next 20 years, as I see her.

  • this is so beautiful!!!

  • i feel her emotion is too choreographed. she dances without the fluity and grace of the swan that makes this piece sad. she seems not to be struggling from death until the very end where she just runs around lacking any sense of true fear of death. where's the raw emotion of the swan? watch Maya Plisetskaya's Dying Swan and understand how a swan truely dies.

  • well, that must be cause she's not really thinking about her own death as it does not really matters to her, but rather feeling deception and sorrow for someone whose life can't be crushed any further, having lost her true form, her freedom and her love. Uliana's Swan dies of unbearable grief and sadness.

It may be not your favourite view over Odette's death cirtcumstances, but...

    Wonderful, if you ask me.

  • Dying Swan is a seperate piece from Swan Lake. It was inspired by Swan Lake by it still is a entirely different piece so it's supposed to have different feelings and motives because it's not Odette.even choreographed by a different person. she's still dying even if she's not thinking about herself, she should still look like she's a dying swan not a technically perfect ballerina.

  • then someone sould just shoot her in the leg and watch as she screams and crawls on the ground.

if it is inspired by swan lake, there's no reason it would be wrong to have the god damned swan dying of grief. Plisetskaya is beautiful, i won't discuss this, and maybe she is the best; but saying shes right and this is wrong is the same as saying that balachine's nutcracker is wrong because it did not follow the tradicional plotline.

  • Dying swan was composed by Saint-Saëns for Pavlova,it has nothing to do with Swan lake;)

  • Camille St.-Saens and I share the same birthday..

  • oh I love this, it almost made me cry... I'm such a baby :p

  • Nah, I cried over Giselle. The part where she dies...

  • Lopatkina is an amazing dancer; I sort of wish I could find a video of Makhalina doing Dying Swan, because she's amazing as well.

  • so mesmerising(:

I've always been captured by anna pavlova

but this was truley beautiful hense i think the best i have seen.

    Quite truley amasing.

  • the best since Pavlova I'd say!

  • beautiful

  • this music is so moving (always has been to me) and the dancing was exqusite and moving as well

  • i was 13 when i first acted this variation. she can't be better. and she gave me a great pain cause i gave up dancing because of an accident. my first and my last solo... she was perfect!

  • I remember my ballet professor telling us (the first time we did the bourrees en pointe) to think of the beauty of the dying swan as portrayed by Makarova I think. Yes, lets just say it was nowehre near this nice or as nice as Natalia's haahaa.

  • she portrays the dying swan perfectly! i love it!

  • Very fluid, delicate and graceful! I loved her arms and how well she listened to the music. Bravo!

  • Yes, much better. She is reflecting a dying swan better than Natalia or Anna. She reposes and flinches, she has far more expression with her arms and breaks out of the bourrees. I actually think she's listening to the music which I didn't sense with the other two.

  • Just awesome !

    Carlos Paredes Abad

  • She is very beautiful and so flexible...

Wasn't Vladimir Spivakov famouse violin player, now I see him conducting?!?

  • one of my favorite interpretations of dying swan. she makes some very interesting choices, and i think the distortion of her arms is quite beautiful

  • watch Patricio Molina playing Saint Saens Piano Concerto. He does it better than any important pianist!!!

  • can we not just appreciate the beauty? Arguing over such a blessing is petty and mocking what these dancers gave us.

  • i think she is stunnin

definatly 1 of my favourite dancers!

love the way she dances i just get so much emotion from her

    once again love her!

  • sergenat: my friend, this is a country of zombies, the brain dead are everywhere and in every field. The sun is setting rapidly in the west. And the dead are blind!

  • Exquisite.

  • She's so incredibly beautiful and technically awesome... I prefer Pavlova, though...

  • by your collective comments it is obvious that you do not know the difference between a dying swan and a croaking Hippo. incredible how mushrooms could criticize oaks. while all of you are gracefully picking your noses Uliana dances!

  • Bravo ,RealRussianOnly ,well said !

  • it was really good and i soon will be starting ballet'. i think it will be hard but fun.

  • I think her performance is really good and she is a great dancer. But she doesnt create the emotion that Pavlova does when she performs. Pavlova's performance is heartbreaking, the way her arms move, her expressions. In the beggening of the performance she doesnt even seem like she is dying. But I do have to give her props, I really loved the ending. But I do think that Pavlova's Dying Swan is much more beautiful and tragic.

  • Agreed but Pavlova was a set apart from anyone before or since ,so i think the comparisons are unfair

  • The whole thing relies on the fact that the ballerine must believbe she is a swan in agony. Pavlova knew that and her movement matched the one of a real swan. This performance talks about a young woman who happens to be a great dancer, but not as realistic as Pavlova.

  • her feet are so graceful they just flutter and look like they are rippling themselves i love it

  • best dying swan I have ever seen

  • Anna, spasibo :)))

  • Actually...Anna Pavlova dancing this looks sloppy. Yeah, I said it.

  • its ment to look sloppy!!! the freakin swan is dying!!

  • Don't judge based on an old old video

  • hm... if you want to see how this is supposed to be dance, check Plisetskaya's interpretation. She is so graceful and subtle. Perfect

  • she did an amazing job with the arms, but she's no Anna Pavlova.

  • The sheer artistry and grace of this ballerina leaves me quite speechless.

  • The most beautiful dying swan I've ever seen. She's so passionate, I cried.

  • As much as I love this performance, Pavlova is the only one who can make me cry.

  • Oh my god she does it so beautifully. It's easy to believe that she's really a dying swan. Got a little teary eyed.

  • Breathtaking. Thanks for posting this

  • Yliana.... Her hands are so beautiful!!! She is my favorite

    ballerina....

  • Not an Anna Pavlova, but still good ;)

  • briliant! you could really see that she was not just dancing, but getting involved with her heart in playing the tragedy of the dying swan.

    brilliante!

  • AMAZING! I'm crying! And, I think maestro Spivakov cryes too... Thank you so much!

  • amazing..

  • Oh my God. I'm almost crying.

Did you see the maestro's face at the end? Absolutely touched...

  • One of the best, indeed! Full of emotion. This is real dying swan.

  • This is absolutely lovely!

  • adorable,post Mezentseva,pls

  • Who is this dancer? She has beautiful legs and feet for this. Gorgeous.

  • One of the best Dying Swan I have seen!!!

  • jesus, she's like an angel, my god!! beautiful and speechless...

  • Beautiful thanks for uploading.
