  • Does anyone know the name of the soundtrack? :O LOVE IT! (*.*)

  • dildo.

  • @namefart thought provoking

  • Now there's a big hole in the ground

  • I find it too bad this project was delayed (canceled altogether?). Such a graceful building, it would have been nice to see this in Chicago's skyline.

  • This would of been a great building...

  • OMG WHY U NOT BUILD

  • this would have been a great building, too bad it was cancelled :(

  • shame the companies owning this are bankrupt. This building woulda been badass

  • this video is wierdly relaxing

  • Awesomeness!! Love it! Wish it would be built....

  • magic!

  • Me gusta spires

  • I wish it would be built

  • so happy this didnt work out, it wouldve looked like shit

  • @Izakokomarixyz I know =,[

  • at night it looks like a giant christmas tree! it'll be really nice to see it on the Holiday season!

  • @kathen111 you will never see it; the project is dead.

  • @Izakokomarixyz aw man! its so nice... well i guess sometimes things don't work out :P

  • Very nice it reminds me of the London shard also under construction, two very unique and modern buildings, beautiful even, i like the way the spire has a natural theme to it, impressed.

  • Is this being built??? Someone please help me out.

  • @nlosborne For now it stopped but they r doing everything they can to get back to complete this structure for more info visit chicago spire wikipedia.

  • @nlosborne The Chicago Spire is DEAD.

  • that was such a cute video!

  • It was assumed deaf in 08. Now they just just started construction on the actual tower. Google it

  • @Gochicagobulls4ever

I thought that they halted construction for ever....

  • @AVIATIO no paused it. new fiinish in 2013. i swwwear, look it up.

  • This project is pretty much dead...

  • i was expecting tht bird to get hit by a helicopter or something. i gotta stop watching so many comedy movies 0_0

  • Isn't it a hazard that this is being built only a few hundred feet away from the lake and that water can be a hazard? plus when they first started this, they said the building would be finished in 2011 but so far it doesn't look like much progress. Just one big hole.

  • Reminds me of AI for some reason.

  • Way too tall too close to the lake. Fortunately this "skyline destroyer" will not be built. The developer is in huge financial and legal trouble and the Chicago condo market is ridiculously overbuilt.

  • i like how they designed the lobby, very elegant

  • dam that buildings tall at 2000 ft

  • its a modern day obelisk. an illuminati phalic symbol meant to absorb power from the sun. they had them in egypt, they have one in DC the Washignton Memorial. George Washington was a free mason by the was and so were most of our presidents. so yeah a giant dildo basically. It actually used to look more like a spike but they changed it to a dildo. I wonder why? o.O

  • your inside a raindrop. the image is reflected, so your facing the opposite direction.

  • Americans designed the tallest building in the world(Burj Khalifa) elsewhere on the planet but then a Spaniard wants to build the world's largest dildo for Chicago. USA gets no respect!

  • sounds like jeolusey

  • its either cultural unity or commericial feasibility/Laiseez faire

I think we both know which one leads to greater achievement(comparative advantage) and what you usa is all about

  • btw , there's no "you" there

hey ;) maybe it just seemed like it at first

  • @noodleninjaa

I'd kill to live in a dildo this big.

  • Half of that video had nothing to do with the building.

  • its like saying that straberry flavored instant drinks have half-nothing to do with strawberries

i say , all of that video has little to do with the building , the buildings dont watch videos

  • there is a negociacion with union founds group to give a new loan and give their workers 4 years of secure work in the construccion of this great building... so cross your fingers cause the construccion may starts early next year

  • construction scheduled to resum next year! hell yea cant wait to see this amazing building stand tall in chicago!

  • @photolitherland i know im replyin to an 8 month comment or wateva but everythaing is out of wack like u said its in the wrong place u know why?..... its the reflection of the windows! look at urself on a mirror lolz everything is on the oppisite side! everything on the right is to ur left n viceversa! its still confusin tho!

  • I am a fourth generation Chicagoan, and reading the comments about it being windy; you are both correct so stop pissing match. Noodleninjaa, I envy you! After Big John was built, I aspired to one day live and work in that building, but the price tag is way too rich for my blood! lol

  • this is like MGM, so awesome. Can't wait till the economy gets better ^_^ Chicago FTW!!

  • The view was amazing 1:14

  • i live in CHicago. Im afraid that what happen in 911 is going to happen in chicago OR an accedient an airplane going to hit it OR the workers are going to die when they reach the top or fall. anyways the video looks soo real! i cant wait to go in 2013 the Grand opening.

  • what is the name of this song? somebody please tell me

  • Does anybody know where to find the soundtrack to the video? I've done a considerable amount of digging and know that it was composed by Chance Thomas, but as far as actually finding a downloadable mp3 clip or the like, a fruitless search.

  • Same here although you've found more info than I have. Love this beautiful music. Goes quite well with this elegant looking structure.

  • I feel for the future residents on the upper floors. This building will probably sway quite a bit from Chicago's harsh winds.

  • Scientific Illustrated, March/April 2009: The spire will rest on 34 caissons, placed 120 feet deep into bedrock. in addition to the 120 caissons that anchor the core, there will be 14 more, arranged in pairs, in a circle outside the core, to keep the structure stable. Braces placed every 30 or 40 stories will carry stress to the core and help to keep the spire from swaying in the wind.

  • Also: The tower's cylindrical design significantly reduces wind loads, unlike skyscrapers with large, flat surfaces that give the wind greater purchase.

  • Actually, the spiraling structure and reinforcement is greatly more stable than all the would-be Spire's neighbors. The shape of the tower will channel and direct the wind in a way that increases aerodynamic performance and reduces drag.

Also, another of Calatrava's buildings (nicknamed the 'Turning Torso') in Molmo, Sweden has a similar twisting form, but with much less elegant formwork than the Spire's.

  • It's not called the windy city b/c of the wind, it's because of the politics.

  • Chicago's called the Windy City b/c of the politics, not the wind. lol.

  • That's true but what does your reply have to do with my comment? I lived in the Hancock bldg for 3 yrs so I know what Chicago winds are like on high rises.

  • Cuz ur comment talks about how windy it is. Isn't that obvious enough?

  • My comment was based on my experience living in a high rise in Chicago. The Hancock bldg swayed quite a bit during winter storms. Have you even been to Chicago?

  • Ya, I live in Elmhurst. I love Chicago. And it is a bit shaky up on the Skydeck. lol But it's so fun, you just ignore it.

  • Actually they call it the windy city because it is constantly blowing at a good pace. not like the freaking high sees. Dumbass its not enough to hear it from someone.

  • Comment removed

  • Sexy as hell! Let's hope it's eventually built cause Chicago needs another masterpiece like the Sears Tower was in the 70s. But I think the mistake was to make it all residential rather than allowing for office space as well. It was probably based on estimates made during the height of the housing bubble.

  • There could never be profitable office space on that site. It is too isolated. And anyway, it's zoned residential.

  • there would be a HELL of a lot of security for this.

  • Sadly, this project is now dead - a victim of the credit crisis and a glut of overpriced condos in Chicago. It was a longshot in even a great economy. But with sales stalled at 33%, there's no way to get $2 billion to continue.

Calatrava is suing Kelleher for non-payment of $12 million he is owed and the two are no longer on speaking terms. Kelleher, who had set up residence in Chicago to oversee construction, has apparently left the country and most of the sales staff has been released.

  • There is even talk of possibly selling the design to be built elsewhere - possibly Dubai. Of course there, a 2000 footer would be out of the question. Too short. I wonder how this would look scaled up to 200 stories?

  • Yeah lol its so gay they stopped working on it i like flipped when i heard that look how ballin' it is. FUCK DUBAI!!! Its all about Chi-Town

  • is it really not happening? I thought it was just put on hold = (

  • I wouldn't expect any declaration until after the 2016 Olympic announcement next October. The only chance the CS has is both a strongly recovering economy (prospects for which are dimmer now that Obama is prez) and the elevation of Chicago to "world class" status (Obama is a big boost to Chicago 2016 hopes).

Onerous taxes on the very rich people who might buy a condo as a "work of art" instead of simply a place to live will kill it for sure. It's borderline now. Obama policies could kill it.

  • looks like a giant dildo...

  • That is seriously one of the most amazing vids ever. I might have to buy an apartment if I could afford it!

  • Can someone tell me what the background song is?

  • thats amazing, cities like Chicago Dubai Shangahi and Hong Kong are going to rise supreme,

  • Especially Chicago and Dubai. they both have tons of approved supertalls.

  • WOAH! B-e-a-utiful!

  • Yes it is!

  • yeah, thanks for sending me the vid :)

  • wow, amazing truly inspiring

  • Adrianblue77 is a pussy!!!

  • This thing is sooooooooooo SICK!!!!!!!!!

    I can't wait til it's done, f*ck all u h8ers

Trump eat your heart out, you've just been pwned

  • You obviously give a shit, if not, you wouldn't be on here admiring this video. You're just soooo sad.

  • Actually, I think you are very unhappy in Chicago, so all you can do is to lie about how "great" Chicago is.You know there`s nothing great about Chicago and if you don`t , so you are eiher complete ignorant or very very very uneducated person who never was anywhere else besides Chi-Town.

  • The only reason you hate chicago is probably because your a New York person.

  • Are you a New Yorker? Probably... most overrated, dirty city in America. Something to be proud of for sure.

  • It's America's heart, there are a ton of people in NYC, it is going to be dirty; especially when everything is crammed on such a small strip of land. DUH :)

  • A true masterpiece...this building is in a leauge of its own. Only in beautiful Chicago.

  • A true masterpiece...this building is in a league of its own.
