mysticxo, Diplomatic powers are equal for all nation-states; regardless, of geographical size, economic engine, or military strenght- Sovereignty.

I think that what you mean is: "Are there [Islamic] nation-states that can project their respective national interests in greater spheres of influence?"

That answer is Yes. It depends on many factors: Grasping the regional/global matrix of power calculus and its application as diplomacy.

Turkey & Egypt interests are relative to their geographcial proximity to Europe

Whereas, Iran interests are to balance the Russian, Chinese, & Indian thrusts from the north, east & south and the USA & Eurpean Union from the west.
