  • i love this piece sounds like the israeli natiional anthem

  • Played this in HS 7 years ago and ever since then I can't stop humming, every morning, that beautiful melody that starts at 1:15. Beautiful piece!!

  • Man, I love this song. This is one of the few songs I enjoyed in my University Music class-I'm not a huge fan of classical music or stuff from around that era.

  • terrible

  • i had to listen to this for my university module and tho i wasnt familiar with it, i must say it struck a chord in me, making me like this piece of music!

  • the wedding theme at around 4:20 is a hell of a lot of fun to play.. on clarinet any how. Played this about 2 years ago, and it just popped back in my head

  • Man. I feel so unbelievably sorry for those whose ears have never heard this piece touch their soul.

  • 0:00 repeat please!

  • I am so glad I found this piece on here! I'm playing the long flute solo at the beginning and it's wonderful to know what it's supposed to sound like. It's really amazingly beautiful!

  • this is my number 7 Patriot

  • Absolutely gorgeous.

  • I love this!!! Probably the first classical piece I listened to as a toddler. In middle school we drew also pictures according to what we thought we heard. We were told that it was a about a flowing river, though.

  • goose bumps....

  • When I was in 5th grade our music-teacher asked the class: "When you try to picture what you hear, what do you see?"

I saw a garden in september, when the first leafes fall on the ground, dancing on the grass and through the air, while the wind is getting stronger.

I didn`t know that this is a river, starting from its source as a little creek wiggling through little paths, becoming bigger and then flowing into the "Elbe"-river.

    I got a grade 4(german) or "D" in America - I still hate her :-)

  • I love love love the flutes.

  • It moves me in unrealistic and lovely world

  • There are some similarities between this son and our countys folk song, Värmlandsvisan. Youtube it and check for yourself:)

  • lovely slideshow, thank you.

  • Who on earth is the conductor and what orchestra is playing this gorgeous performance? We deserve to know and they deserve recognition!

  • I love this such a beautiful piece of music so moving and restful

  • i love it:D

  • my three year old made me spend the last 30 minutes looking for this song.lol....he had heard it on little einsteins.

  • this piece is so moving, it brings out every emotion & the video is perfect for the same reason. it's just beyond words.

  • I was in the audience in Columbus Ohio to hear the Prague Symphony Orchestra on tour in the US the very night when Russia invaded Czechoslovakia, known today as "Prague Spring". The orchestral musicians were in shock (as was the world)! They spontaneously changed their opening piece to "The Moldau" (the famous river in Czechoslovakia) . . . a very moving performance! The section beginning at 4:20 is marked in the score "Wedding Dance." Gorgeous music!

  • Yea because at 1:15 you can hear anything at all lol

  • My favorite piece of music I discovered in freshman music appreciation. Thanks college!

  • @eamesandrew I also discovered this in a music appreciation class. One of the best "fluff" classes I ever took. I discovered several pieces of music I liked a lot including this one. I second your "thanks" to college for helping me discover this.

  • this orchestra is amazing..

  • Very beautiful. Nicely done.

  • I studied this in music class in France when I was about 14, more than 20 years later it is still one of my favorite piece of classical music!

  • jedna z nejlepších ...

  • Nicely done video to accompany one of my favorite pieces

  • Best version on YouTube! FINALLY a great tempo!! In the flutes, you can hear the leisurely mixture of both warm and cold water mingling at the river's source--the beautiful music is allowed to BLOOM--as it should. The orchestra has somewhere to GO with faster tempo later. Most conductors don't get what this music means--& just rush through (most Czech conductors too-- sad to say) in this marvlous depiction of a river. Conductors take hede with this great tempo. WHO is the orchestra?

  • 0:01 gives ME shivers..

  • Love the part after 4:20. Reminds me of a small busy little town bustling with activity.

  • great music coming from the Czech Nationalist himself my fucking country MAN

  • This is a nice recording. Do you have the second part to it?

  • I have been looking for this composer/music for MANY years! Thanks to Australia's ABC Classic FM for playing it yesterday, and the website has a list of the previous days broadcast. And thank you chriscw0207 for showing me the pictures with the music.

As an Australian lover of Classical music, I shall be attempting to get all Smetana's music. Can you confirm if this is a Russian composer? (By Russian, I refer to the Former USSR and the now free people of Georgia?)

    Much love,

    Sheralania. x

  • @sheralania No, he's not Russian. He's Czech (born in former Austria-Hungary).

  • Is this the version conducted by Leopold Stokowski? It sounds like it.

  • 1:15 on gives me shivers!

  • @CrownedWithLaurels I AGREE! Favorite part of the piece.

  • the most wonderful piece that I hear.

Fantastica peça, nunca ouvi nada igual!!

  • @CrownedWithLaurels me too! :)

  • @CrownedWithLaurels This song sounds truly like the flowing river it represents...we had to memorize this piece for History of Western Music 2...this one is my favorite by far. What an EPIC, gorgeous song! Sounds like the 1:15-on part could be in Pirates of the Caribbean :D

  • @jourdania05

what a f.... you talking about?

    Pirates of the Caribbean???

Czech Republic doesn't have even a sea!

    LOL....

This music is as Cech (Czech) as you can go!

  • I Love Czech Culture but I dont appreciate Czech people

  • @levani5050 are you czech?

  • @MaggieK1974 Nope, I'm Georgian.

  • @levani5050 may i ask why you don't appreciate czech people?

  • @MaggieK1974 I was living there for 1 year (Studing) and I had friends all around the world exapt hosts - Czechs. They are so Nationalists, have cold blood, dont communicate with foreigners so much, espetially they dont respect people from the East.

My friend had problems connected with health, he had health insurance, but even in hospital doctors payed less attention then their responsibility.

Maybe somebody has different oppinions about Czechs. Just its my opinion and im talking what i feel

  • @levani5050 i was interested in your opinion as i'm czech iving abroad for most of my life and my views of the czech people are very similar to yours....i'm proud of where i come from - just not very proud of the way czech people think and behave sometimes.....sad to say! thanks for chatting, i enjoy hearing peoples opinions....hope all is well in georgia! :-)

  • @MaggieK1974 Just there is unanswered questions, not only about Czechs, but generally: where we all humans are going? and is it right way to go? and where is the end of our Humanity? or do we still have something human or we have lost it already?

All People must be more communicative, must love and respect each other, doesn't metter their nation and religion. We have to look like humans and not Robots. Sometimes we must open door of our home and look around, whats happen outside of our walls.

  • @MaggieK1974 Thank you so much. now we have piece in Georgia, and thats most important... Have a good day

  • @MaggieK1974

i had the same exact experience in Kuwait. I was treated so well for being North American as an expat working abroad. The lady beside me, a third world worker from South India was left to die in the bed beside me, unattended for days. I had five doctors. She had one who never came. When I screamed and cried for someone to help her and begged the nurses to get her doctor they just said, 'she's going to die. don't worry, you're not.' as if that was some kind of reassurance...

  • super palec nahoru

  • Prostě naše... :-) nejkrásnější.. 5*

  • aspita! It is wonderful and full!
