In north korea, many wealthy zainichi japanese-koreans (and ardent communists) were denounced as spies in the 1960's. I wouldn't give much credit to stories of her or her husband being spies. These people were firm believers in the socialist ideal, unfortunately for them.

Awesome! I wish there were more early (78 rpm era) recordings of pop and classical music from Korea and Japan on cd. I love this type of thing. Very nostalgiac and beautiful!

I've heard about Seung-hee Choi. From what I remember, she is this very prominent Korean dancer during the 1930's. She was purged in North Korea in the 1950's with someone named Ahn Mak. That is all I rememberof her
