When I talked about the Tejas Elevator Company being a disributor for US Elevator, these elevators are popping up left and right at the University of Texas at Austin.
few modern elevators have those nowadays..they are replaced by sensors embedded inside the lift doors...imagine if the hard edge of the door closes on you...ouch
The tabs that come out of the doors are called bumpers.
