  • you should do some stand up adam you so funny but so true

  • wow it takes a man to be that deeply honest!

  • Trial and error is one of the most powerful forces for positive change in the world.

  • I like that guy.

  • This is a terrific speech from Adam. I'm impressed with his maturity and sincerity.

  • I don't get what is it that he screwed up?

  • @bananian

He is very vague about it- he didn't do several things that he was supposed to do. But it REALLY REALLY doesn't matter. Pay attention to the lesson.

  • Failure is normal, and Adam is a tremendously awesome person for owing up to them. Though I don't think that the Theatre job was largely his fault. Working for days without sleep, he doesn't ask for help.. so noone helps? he didnt make the meeting so noone will? it was a favor not a job, he was not getting paid. So they don't take responsibility for anything, blame it on the art director who had to do EVERYTHING with no budget and no experience. The woman sounds like a horrible person.

  • Good judgement comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgement.

  • Everyone should experience this sometime in their life.

  • thoughs who get knocked down only to get back up are the true heroes in this world.

  • If failure doesn't suck, it usually blows.

  • i think its a little extreme for fully grown adults to say that they aren't friends anymore

  • @girlsbdfa adults have feelings too

  • @wargenie95 not many, mostly greed, envy, lust, and anger

  • Which is a bad idea........most of the time

  • Kinda dumb. That's just life and work. Failure is normal.

    So why the angst ?

  • This footage makes me respect Adam on a whole new level! Wow.

  • So awesome how he can tell everyone this being famous and just feel so comfortable telling everyone.

  • Failure is the mother of success.

  • This really made me feel better

  • what did he even do?

  • @girlsbdfa he messed up on a film and lost his best friend (gabby)

  • Failure has an astonishing amount of power. When you fail or make a mistake, it's not that you necessarily learn more but you learn it hard. By failing, you get at least a bit of a sting. The harder it stings you, the more you remember that mistake.

There are some mistakes I make that I keep making and they are the painless ones. I forget them and repeat them. But when a mistake hurts, you bet your ass I won't do it again.

  • @FSquid

    What you're explaining is fear.

The idea that you learn from your mistakes is not the fear of the outcome...it has everything to do with seeing the situation from all angles. Essentially it's like adding to your inner encyclopedia of knowledge that gives you a broader understanding

  • FAIL => WIN

Adam Savage is as cool as Jonny Savage.

  • what the hell did he do

  • @54DUNLOP

    Watch this:

    fora . tv/2009/05/30/MythBuster_Adam_Savages_Colossal_Failures

  • I must say, this is a very good motivating speech, altho we also need to avoid unnecessary screw-ups

  • FAIL..............is not a bad thing, it's actually the opposite

  • he is a very good speaker and he seems like someone I would really want to sit down and talk with.

  • I think he grew out his hair so people wouldn't mistake him for that look-alike doing a goatse impression.

  • @dany3241291 no he is not he is from New York. USA!

  • Then you came to this video for the wrong reason.

  • What did Adam do wrong?

  • i was there

  • He is from New England.

  • So?

  • New York is not New England

  • Wow, then I must be some character.

  • Of course, just because you are a character does not mean you have character.

    ---The Wolf, Pulp Fiction

  • That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

  • It's comforting to hear someone famous whom I positively revere own up to their own all too human failings, and be able to chalk it up to lessons learned...

  • wow, great talk.

  • i heart foraTV

  • walker percy once wrote, that the word boredom may find its origine in the french word bourrer, what means to stuff, so the bored personality is the one that is stuffed with itself and i think that is what i am getting here, the rest is opera kitsch, bad opera kitsch, to be stuffed with that, and get something out of it, you have to believe...in opera kitsch. apart from that this speech gives boredom a real bad reputation that it does not deserve!

  • I was wondering through most of his monologue what the point of it all was, then he finally tied it all together and made his point fantastically: as the title explains. Thanks for sharing. 5 stars.

  • one must fail, even miserably sometimes, in order to succeed.

  • @soundscapenyc Sometimes being a constant failure brings you success... like Justin Bieber

    o.O

  • That Was Funny and Very good

  • Good to hear. I screw up all the time. Good thing my family loves me!!

  • Adam is awesome.
