The really moving part of 8:00 and the reason it hits me so hard is that music's placement in game. It is used when one is inside the broken pieces of Vordrassil, the Heart, the Limb and the Tears. It also happened to play when I returned the final quest to the druid and the text just says "she stares blankly ahead and has left a package for your return". The story of the failed world tree and the Grizzlemaw's attempt to restore Ursoc is heartbreaking and that music is fitting to the story.
I liked vanilla the most but that's just because I started playing then. Most people probably have the most nostalgic feelings about their first character in whatever phase they started playing.
With that said:
TBC- loved Hellfire and Zangarmarsh the rest not so much
WoTLK- Loved it from day 1. Grizzly hills was so awesome.
Cata- Great expo yet again but by now I've been playing wow since I was 15 and I'm 22 now. I got bored of it.
@Dorkus89Malorkus been listening to wow music for that reason you stated "nostalgic feelings about their first character" I started back in 2007 (after bc?) and loved every bit of music I heard... For me games have two stories. The quests, and the music. Combining the two, I won't ever forget this game (I don't have the time anymore as I am 22 as well) for as long as I live.
I am so moved by this music and by the loving and melancholy comments by some below. I hope you are all able to move in the real world with the same love and tenderness that some of you were able to display and summon for your dear friends in WotLK.
And for Theo - return to your friend who misses you deeply...

Even as I set my home back in Stormwind. I'll never forget Northrend. I'll never forget Grizzly Hills, and I'll never forgot the song that plays at 8:00, and on. For me that, and the Music during the LK fight will forever remind me of WotLK. And all the good times I spent.
I'll miss our nights in the stump of Vordrassil listening to this song with you, Theo. Where ever you are. *tears*
This whole musical piece was masterful, but I think it really hit it's peak from 8:00 onward. Heartbreakingly beautiful. My eyes are still puffy from listening to it.
Never played WoW for more than a couple of months back in its early days, so I've never seen these expansion areas, but man.. they've composed some epic music here. The part from 8:00 to the end is harrowingly beautiful.
look at it this way, no one liked TBC, no one likes Wotlk and ppl dont like Cataclysm... well it looks like us who plays wow just cant be satisfied at all. personally i loved hellfire, and the whole TBC idea, i like Wotlk alot too, many beautifull areas and i definatly think Cataclysm is going to be good aswell. see it this way, if we didnt have any expansions this game would turn 180 degreese and go downwards
@MrBeardedragon who the fuck are you to say no one likes tbc or wotlk, unless you alone represent the majority of the wow players just stfu. the two expansions weren't as great as vanilla, but that dosn't mean that no-one loves the expansion. so stop proclaiming your loyalty to the game, and write something useful!
I really like the ambient touch at 6:40 onward. That's good use of subtlety. The entire Grizz hills soundtrack and dragonblight are my favourite at this point. Howling fjord was also really nice. lol.
you know, there's a lot of hate for WotLK but i kinda like it...maybe i am in the minority but i didn't care for TBC to much. Blood Elves were the only thing that really did it for me. Well, the story was pretty good too.
Now the hate is on Cataclysm and i can see why. I don't like the idea of old Az getting raped either, but at least Blizz is bringing us back to original places...even if they are gutted.
I love the holiday events just b/c it gives me an excuse to run around old Az again.
It is less amazing, how the music affects the atmosphere as it is amazing, that the experience of the music is affected by the surrounding you're playing in. In Grizzly Hills it's very alming and smooth, listening the same music in Zul'Drak has almost no effect :o
The art of proper music ques is very under appreciated. You slap the right tone and mood a piece of music generates onto the right scene/setting... you're in for an epic experience. Transformers for example, that whole soundtrack is perfect and Jablonsky did a fantastic job, even if you didn't like the movie you can't help but feel something when watching the Transformers fall to Earth with his "Arrival to Earth" alongside it.
What's the name of the quest? sounds good. I'm also interested in the whole Voldrassil thing and what happened to it

I would pay $15 just to level another character through these beautiful zones. I don't care to even raid when I hit 80.
Justindawg1506 1 year ago
amazing! More music of epic proportions for Cata please! This music sounds so tranquil and sounds unspoiled, like the majority of the zone.

i loved TBC, and the same with most of wotlk, the music and scenery satisfy me over gameplay anyday, but catlysm or what ever is bullshit

I slightly liked TBC, but it got old when you went through there the 3rd time
Also slightly like WotLK for the same reason,
but im definitely going to love Cata
