So how did you get started playing, man? I'm just starting out and am not sure if I should go for lessons or if I can teach myself. Any suggestions? Awesome playing, BTW. :)
I can not believe some people have had anything bad to say about that. I didn't see this guy actually claim to be Brad Paisley. Well done mate, I enjoyed it.
Well, the way I see it, it's just a matter of playing scales really fast using several fingers to obtain accuracy and speed.. Then you just practice and practice till you can pick any pattern with the fingers of your right hand on demand.. You could check out Steve Trovato, he made some dvd's on chicken picking..
chicken pickin and country playing is more like jazz guitar playing where they play in and around the chord... not a set scale like a rock player would...
jhune08: Well, Brad Paisley once said that learning jazz was critical in helping him learn country...and that's coming from one of the best living country guitarists that I know of.
So, I'd start by learning jazz, if I were you.
Also, there are instructional DVDs out there--look for DVDs by Brent Mason, Danny Gatton and Johnny Hiland.
chrohm: The fact that you said, "Sounds like Alan Jackson," does make a lot of sense, since Brent Mason has recorded so many guitar parts for Alan Jackson songs.
Looks like you took the time to learn the riffs, but aren't patient enough to play them musically. Take your time, let the notes ring for their intended duration.
