  • Patti Labelle rocked this song! There's power AND emotions in one!

  • never forget the BIG hair!! hehehe i just love tis song!

  • she has funny dancing moves

  • Patti LaBelle... will you marry me?...

  • This version is very good, but i still prefer Celine Dion's version for some reason.

  • Patti Labelle has the most powerful vocals out there!!!

  • License to Kill, what a movie!

  • Essa musica é maravilhosa...ela esta no meu celular, no meu micro, mp3...adoro a Patti Labelle, uma cantora fantastica, uma das melhores vozes do mundo.

  • patti rocks it.........sorry celine, nice try.

  • @rocketman6464 agree 100%

  • so good...........Thanks!

  • I think this is her best SONG ever..... Video kindda loses all the emotion. But, still gives me goosebumps...! What a voice.....and great person.

  • be nice, kids..... no hate.

  • so cool.........

  • iF YOU ASK ME TO...... I WILL LOVE YA ALWAYS ,Jugbert

  • Learn how to spell.

  • Ironic that your username has Rihanna in it and you claim she can't sing.

  • Retardation has nothing to do with my opinions. You are a very disrespectful person for using the term "retarded". Shame on you.

  • You are retarded and so is your response bitch.

  • You're grammar is once again not accurate. You're supposed to put a comma after response. With all that being said, you fail English.

  • @EmesWillsun1 Deal with it you dumb faggot. I'm not here for english lessons, i'm here to put ya ugly ass in your place dummy.

  • Your grammar is atrocious. By the way, how would you know what I look like if there's no picture of me on this site? You damn sure can't give an educated guess by the looks of your poor grammar and spelling. Oh and what are you here for? I gave my opinion like everyone else on this site does, and you call me "retarted" for my opinion. I listen to music and watch videos on this site like everyone else, does that make me retarted too? What do you mean by your last statement? Please clairify!!

  • @THGREATESTSOULSINGER i kno rite this isn't the classroom

  • Shouldn't it be "Your grammar" instead of "You're grammar"?

    You're = you are

  • Agreed. However, using an equal sign in something other than math isn't correct either, nor is the fact that there isn't a period symbol at the end of your last sentence.

  • @jobucats Eh. I don't care anymore.

  • I love this version from Patti.....her range has always been her strong point!!!!!

  • LaBelle has always been noted for being able to "move the air", and she certainly moves it here. Strong vocals.

  • 2:40

    Damn! That woman can belt!

  • i think she looks very sexy in the black dress.. she looks very curvey here.. i remember here saying the tears in the end were from here thinking about her sister or sisters passing from cancer

  • i am 24 years old and i was'nt around for her first couple of decades, but she is one amazing woman. and i love her as if i watched her all my life. QUEEN PATTI. there are only 2 other woman to touch me in music along with Patti and that is Aaliyah & Chrisitina Aguilera. Patti is something else and still rolling at 65, she is fantastic.

  • good song, bad hair

  • Hideous hair...............

  • hey morons. the original song of anything is always the best. why? because it was a conception of that artist. his/her creation his/her emotions. a cover will always be inferior to an original. get a clue

  • Original is always best, huh?

That's YOUR opinion, and the only moron here is you, for somehow thinking your opinion overshadows everyone elses.

  • You gotta understand what he means though, he's absolutely right, Originals are best because others are imitations... some might sing better than original, but fact remains its an imitation, and doesnt give the same feeling/emotion... is all!

  • There's a way to go about explaining your opinion, and opening with an insult is not that way.

Whether or not his/her point is valid is pretty irrelevent after he/she decides to blast us all with some biased ignorance.

  • fa real, I feel you on that... insults are just ways of filling in voids for not knowing what to write.,..

  • passion....this lady has it....one of my favorites,,,and lets be clear....she is the original...celines re-make so bland compared to hers its not even funny.....

  • great song...very strange why the rank in 1989 not very high...

    not fair, that's all

  • picture Celine kickin off her shoes...lol

  • I think of the ending to "license to kill" everytime I hear this.

  • she makes me cry with this song

  • don't be rude this spot after her sister passed away that's way she's crying and wearing black

  • And to add to cbeauti's point, LaBelle, now 65, is the only one of the LaBelle sisters to even make it past age 44.

  • Miss Patti's is a mess lol, but her version is far superior. She really injects a lot of emotion starting very soft and vunerable before cutting loose after the bridge.

  • What year did this song came out?

  • 1989

  • Patti did her thing!

-I still love this, & it takes me back!

she killed it especially when she started breaking it down(hear me now)!!!

  • Patti's a powerhouse with this song. Celine Dion toppin' this?! Fuck that! Patti basically ripped this track. The young heads aint ready. Halarious, and soulful at the same time though. Her voice can put the hardest thug in prison to tears. True story

  • i love this song!!! shoes off and all--hilarious AND touching.

  • omg there is no even a comparison to Celine`s version... i think Dion did it much better... Pattis voice sound childish and immature here...

  • immature ..childish

    pleaze!!!! patti made the dam

song and sings it better than

    celine ever dreamed of!!!

  • great video.. although i think she over done the swaying and the hand gestures, and whats with the flying shoe at 3:24.. LOL

  • hahahaha..its true i love it though wow patti could be resisting an invisible man here...hahahahahahaha! an when the shoes kick off!! --LOOOOOOL!!!

  • A girl I like dressed like Patti once (bac drs an gold neck piece)... And I didn't know why she was dressed like it at the time, don't get me wrong, she looked stunning as usual, but when I saw this I realised she must love this song, and well, I love it too... Because it kept me thinking of her.

  • cuz it was after her sister died

  • Dez, musica linda...

  • i vaguely rem this..nuff said

  • watchin this video one would never believe this was played on a Bond film (I don't mean that in a negative way at all) ..

  • Omg, you guys r amazing

    Patti is amaizing

  • although Celine Dion has a beautiful voice, Ms. LaBelle truly emotes in this song. her voice ranges from sweet and plaintive, intimate even, to soaring and bone-chillingly powerful. the video is the cherry on top. it brought tears to my eyes. it is so touching, especially at the line "I need you now." if you've experienced the death of someone close to you then you know that feeling all too well.

  • I originally thought Celine did this song, this is the first time viewing Patti LaBelle's version. Celine's voice was powerful, but Patti's voice and gestures are even more so. Two great singers though.

  • The gestures and emotions are so powerful and authentic because her sister had died a couple days before she had to shoot this vid.

  • Mama Patti I love you your voice is so powerful. it don't matter who remake your songs they will never deliver them like you do..

  • OMG just to KILL THIS WHOLE DEBATE BOUT WHOS BETTER....MAN PATTI SANG THIS SONG FOR HER SISTER WHO JUST PASSED AWAY BEFORE THIS VIDEO CAME OUT HER VOICE IS 400 MILLION TIMES STRONGER AN CELINE SANG THIS FOR HER OLD ASS MANAGER I BELIEVE PATTI HAS THIS 1 WRAPPED UP AN CELINES VIDEO LOOKS KINDA LIKE THIS LOL WHY DOES CELINE ALWAYS JACK PEOPLES SONGS

  • Maybe she's not Jacking, she's paying tribute. But I agree this Patti's Song. NO ONE can sing a song like Patti Labelle

  • este cancion esta muy padre............ pero creo que el peinado de PATTY LA BELLE esta muy feo o al menos se ubiera peinado en este videiclip

  • Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Patti cannot be touched when it comes to this song. Don't get me wrong I like Celine, but Patti is the original. Celine remade this song and did a good job, but Patti killed it as she does any song. Patti is the the number one diva!!!

  • diiiiiivalicius

  • you mean patti nailed it,to kill it is to mean ruin it,but you are right on that she dffinetly put the heart and soul into it,i think the next closes one with high end vocals would be christina aguilara, she does and awsome tribute to james brown with(this is a mans world)and etta james(at last)nailed both of them...

  • I am more used to Celine Dion's version because I heard it first and grew up listening to it. But Patti did an awesome job with it too. Great performance! No one can rock a song like Patti LaBelle!!!!

  • nah dont know bout that, i like pattie, but celines version is alot more powerful and emotional than this

  • Celine's version sucks, this version rocks. Go Patti, love you and this song and video!!!!!

  • OMG.....Love me some PATTIE....Oh and the Big hair too...LOL

  • i love this darn song its an awesome i will sing this all day

  • Love Miss Patti's version. It's more stirring and emotional than Celine's and she has a better voice.

  • you know when the shoes come off it's over.

    Pattiii sell offfff everytime

    Yessss

  • Your opinion pleases me.

  • she's rockin' that hair... lol

  • the start sounds rather odd and disjointed to me...the end is pretty great though. Still prefer Celine's overall

  • just stumbled on this by chance, god the memories, what year was this was this does anyone know, early 90s anyway!

  • 1989.

  • celine's version was a bigger hit

  • There is nothing that comes close to Patti and this song.

  • there's no way that celine dion version is better. patti puts the soul in this song

  • True. I love Celine, but Patti OWNS this song...Miss Dion merely rents it for a while.

  • Boo-hiss for adding a commercial (of ANY length) to the vid. Removing this video from my faves.

  • I love both versions. Both Patti and Celine bring the vocal power and emotion when they sing this song.

  • she owns this song....HER song,,,,classic.

  • damn. i thought this was a celine song. the more i listen to celine, the more i realize she mostly makes covers lol. she and whitney should learn to write their own music like mariah. but they are millionaires and i am not so my opinion means nothing. haha

  • My husband love this song and I love him to.I just want him and I'm legally asking for his hand of marriage.I'm asking him to and this song is telling him that.

  • I don't know what I would do if you did..

  • LOVE THIS CUT HERE!!

  • Very nice and original Bond song. Patti LaBelle's performance was awesome!

  • I love this song. I love Patti, she sing from her soul and I can relate to the song. You young people live long enough to understand and get the feeling of a song like this guess what? It will be your turn to have been screwed over just keep living its coming sooner than later.

  • Additional aside to lovelizabeth57: At the time of the video, Patti LaBelle had just lost a sister, hence why she is wearing black.

  • I sang this song @ talent quest, all the girls loved it - then I started krumping.

    - candyman from ashes

  • so does your mom!

  • I have to admit that I laughed hysterically when I read your comment!

  • lol

  • I LIKE YOUR COMMENT.I LAUGH TILL I CRY

  • Ms Pattie is one of those performers who give you your money worth when you go to one of her shows. Even though, when I saw her, I got in free but I had to be there five in the morning, it was the Tom Joyner Sky Show here in B-more and it was one of the best live shows and Pattie she could move the world with that voice of hers. I love and have so much respect for this lady. I would have did this for a year if need to be just to see Ms Labelle, she 's worth everything I had to go thru to see her

  • Celine Dion is the best, and that´s all.

  • Sorry folks, Mexicano James is right. I'm black. but Celine Dion KILLED this song, simply blistered it. I bet Diane Warren would say Celine's version was the best as well. The production was out of this world, big, grand, sweeping, the best shower song in the world.

  • Well, that's your opinion. Unlike you and everybody, I don't put one singer down to put another singer up. Celine and Patti are HELLUVA singers, and I like both of these versions, and I'm not going to say this one is better than the other one. Patti and Celine are one the the most powerful singers ever, and I like both versions.

  • I'm stumped at how to reply to this, so all I'll say is "Cheers!"

  • Magnificent! Beautiful!

  • dude celine dion has a great voice but patty was way better in this song

  • nice try celine! u diva wanna be you...you dont even come close to the original...the queen..the voice,,,,the legend,,,patti owned this song....HER song GOD-DAMNIT!!!

  • did she sing this song originally?

  • yes she did put it ou first

  • go ahead patti

  • Patti does and incredible job with this song. "Be Yourself" is my favorite album of hers.

  • you are an asshole, just thought you should know:(

  • I agree, Celine Dion is better but this one is good too.

  • You talkin to me here eh?

  • STFU no cares what u think,go take your hatin ass some where the fuck else douche bag!

  • LMFAOOO XD XD

Sorry,I don't bow down to nobody especially some ass-shat like you.

"Nappy Headed hoe"hmmmmm sorry ass lame racial slur, come up with a new one.

    Hahaha,NICE FUCKIN TRY -_-"

Also since you're so-called superior, and don't like black ppl, then stop typing in Patti Labelle in the search box,you idiot!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... That last line!

  • Hey I gotta make the haterz feel stupid!!!

I don't get racist pricks like him,why even bother listening to our music,if he don't like black ppl,and the racist nonsense is getting lame as hell!!!

I could say something remotely fucked up about his race, but I'm not ignorant like that.

  • Eek! Why are we arguing. Great music is great music. White, black, purple or pink. It is beautiful and I love it. BTW...I am a white girl that has a little hip in her step. And I acknowledge all the parts of music that makes it great. Actually, we have been influenced by every continent and all styles. Aren't we dang lucky we live here?

  • Whoever said that Patti screams when she sings is a dumb ass. That's not screaming, THAT'S SOUL SINGING!!!!! I bet you that if Patti was white, you wouldn't say that shit. I guess it's ok for a white woman to sing like that, but let it be a black woman, then she screaming. BULLSHIT! I guess that everything in white skin is good. I love Patti Labelle and Celine Dion, and I REFUSE to compare these two women.

  • Fuck you, you racist prick! Janis Joplin, Christina Aguilera, Bette Midler, and all those wonderful white female singers scream a lot in their songs, so you must be out of your fucking mind if you think that only "negros" scream. Oh, but I guess because they're white, it's ok. And for your fucking information, it's NOT screaming, it's SOUL-SINGING! Something you motherfuckers trying to imitate.

  • Janis tried to imitate the "soul-singing" aka screaming. Aquilera is a latina which is like a negro. Bette actually sings. You must be out of your little pea-sized negro brain. It is a proven fact, a negros brain and big lips prevent them from singing properly so they scream (something they learned when we used to chain them to a post)

  • Now you are WAY otu of fucking line by saying that black people's big lips prevent them from singing. First of all, WE taugh you motherfuckers how to sing with soul and feeling by you buying OUR records and listening to our so-called SCREAMING voices. It's funny how you dissing our style of singing yet you motherfuckers will be the first ones in line buying our shit. Your thieving ass people can make shit of your own, so you have to steal the music that WE created first and profit.

  • Typical negro hostility. You say "motherfuckers" twice, drop an f-bomb, attach "ass" as a suffix (ie. thieving ass, stupid ass etc.). Then taking credit for something and claiming the "White Man" is stealing your "shit."

The simple fact is, if it wasn't for us, you people would have NO music or culture. Oh, there are negros that can sing. Don't get me wrong. Billie Holiday could sing. They usually just scream though :)

  • Typical white trash racist theory to always want to claim everything that black people started. No, you got it twisted AMERICAN MUSIC IS BLACK MUSIC! Even white people will admit that shit. I do my research. Black people ARE American music. If it wasn't for us, YOU wouldn't have any hip in your step. You will be singing that dry ass classical music back in Europe. And second of all, I can say whatever the hell I want. I am a grown woman, and I don't need to tone it down for you!

  • BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT coming out of your mouth. We created jazz, rock, RnB, blues, gospel, folk, soul, rap, and all of the genre. And what you said about black music came from Africa, with lip plates dancing around in the fire and screaming and voodooing is the most fucking racist thing that you have every said out of your mouth. You are just a racist bastard who hates to accept the fact that WE started every music genre in this country. Even your own damn people will admit that shit

  • We also created swing, ragtime, doowop Tin Pan Alley, so you don't know what you are talking about. You are just a racist son of a bitch who wants to claim everything to make you feel superior. You are not superior over me, and I refuse to feel inferior!

  • If you are not racist, then how come you call us big lips, negros and all of that bullshit? That's what RACIST people do. What you said out of your mouth is RACIST! You can deny it all you want, but even a deaf person can hear and can tell that what you said is RACIST! You are a racist, plain and simple! Bottom line!

  • Oh fuck you. We DID invent seing, ragtime, gospel, and folk music. What your theiving people did is STOLE it, and make it your own. Like I said, AMERICA MUSIC IS BLACK MUSIC!!!! Keep on being in denial claiming our invention of our music and make it your own. We started it, and you stole it. Ask Elvis!

  • If you are a white nationalist who believes all races should be separated, then go back to Europe and leave America to its original people, the Native Americans.

  • I'm a black woman who believes in equality of all races and integration.

  • Of course some of these racist white motherfuckers will chose Celine's version over Patti's because's she's white. As for me, I don't look at color, I look at talent, and I think BOTH of these women sing the SHIT out of this song, so no one is better than the other. It's so funny how people will put down other people to build another one. Racist bastards!

  • I think some of it is generational instead of racial. I grew up with Patti's version. I like it better because it has more raw emotion. Juice Newton remade a song called "Angel of the Morning"---when I heard the original, I said "Yuck." Same with Bangle's "Hazy Shade of Winter". A lot of these folks probably heard Celine's before they even knew of Patti's, so they like Celine's better. But I think they both did an amazing job.

  • Celine's just sounds like she's croaking. Because that is how the French, French Canadians sing. It all sounds like "If you asked me to, I might change my mind and surrender in just 40 days."

  • I think that Celine also did a wonderful job in that song, so I disagree with that.

  • I didn't look at colour of skin, I just look at sound of voice. And for me Celine's voice sounds amazing.

  • Well, I think that both of these women's voices sounds amazing, and I'm not going to say that one voice is better than another.

  • Haha, It's so funny how she's moving in this video :D I can't stop laughing :D

Of course I like better Celine's version, her voice is deeper and I can feel emotions that she puts into the song.

  • hehe

this is what we call SOUL! patti rocks! hehe

  • it pretty much did cross over into pop. that's how we know it today. it juest shoes the pop really was back then. but then that's showing my age so...

  • Better Lots better than Celine Dions Version.Patti can sing her heart out and I feel her in her music!

  • Patti LaBelle Original Version Lives Forever!!!

  • Awesome...

  • Brilliant song. Fits perfectly into License to kill. Pity Celine Dion killed it with her version

  • Um.....please don't get it twisted...I mean yeah Celine's got a good voice.....but in no way can she compare to this legendary diva! Not much can compete with Patti Labelle....she and Celine are not in the same class!

  • 1:47 - A robot just possessed Patti. That was a very robotic move.

2:30 - The robot possessed her again.

2:40 - The robot tries to get out of her.

2:55 - The robot is forcing her to masturbate.

  • lmao you are fucking funny!!!!!

    rofl!!!!

  • tooo funny

  • Is there really a comparison i think not and to think that ignorant people are attempting to say that celine is softer etc how absurd and ridiculous to say the least. I think some of these folks need to stop trying to be white.

  • Why the hell didn' Patti's version cross ova t'pop charts? Were y'all scared y'all's kids woulda been wantin' t'sing like her?

  • Sorry.Commented outta anger. But this song shoulda croosed ova to pop charts.
