these episodes are very rare to come by-- someone here wrote they aired it back in 1971 as well , but I've never seen it on ANY station since its original run
Thanks so much for posting these. The show has such a lovely Sunday morning feeling to it; just look at the opening... thingsy on the roof. So comfy. And, ng'aw, Duel's adorable.
Charles Lane lived to 102 (died in 2007) - He had appeared in over 800 movies and tv shows. he was still sharp as a tack at 100 - you can see a video of him being honoured at 100 and saying "I'm still available!" for work.
@Drivermatic ABC reran the show in prime-time(!) during the summer of '71 to cash in on the sudden popularity of Pete Duel, who was then riding high on Alias Smith and Jones.
@cubsodaclassic With short hair, there was a fair resemblance. York would have made a great replacement Hannibal Heyes (Much better than Roger Davis), after Duel's tragic suicide. However, the back problems that sidelined him in '69, would probably have still been an issue in early '72.
Charles Lane's screen characters were always "cynical"- in his early years as a character actor in Hollywood, he usually appeared as a reporter, income tax agent, investigator, and so on. As he grew older, he eased himself into "positions of authority": judges, CPA's, business executives, etc. By the '60s, he perfected his "mean old crochety man" persona {"Homer Bedloe" on "PETTICOAT JUNCTION", various clients on "BEWITCHED"- and this character}...but he really a nice guy off-camera.
Charles Lane was one of the great supporting actors of all time, appearing on nearly every sit-com of the 60s & 70s era,who lived past 100,passing away just recently in this decade!
@2nicks: Considering how obscure it is (I didn't hear about it until I read about it on Wikipedia) that might not happen. The best way is to go to the TV Shows On DVD website and put in a request for it on DVD-hopefully, Sony might release it on DVD, or get another company to release it on their behalf.
How do you download film onto Youtube?

This ABC-TV series from 1966,was among the many shows produced by what
used to be Screen Gems Television, decades before the Sony merger,,and the
damage done, when Sony unwisely chose to revive Screen Gems,as a motion
picture division-releasing the most God awful slate of movies! although short
lived,"LOVE ON A ROOFTOP" was a lighthearted type of family sitcom, that
starred the late Pete Duel(who just finished GIDGET) and future "LAUGH-IN"
star Judy Carnes. a great series,in it's time!

Didn't ABC run this in repeats during the day like Bewitched and the Flying Nun during the late 60's ?

@Drivermatic According to wiki--no..there were only 30 episodes. i wished it could have lasted at one more season.
