Not to judge, America can have whatever guns and gun laws they do it's not my concern but coming from another country just as an observation to consider the basic idea of someone walking around going into stores with a gun is completely absurd, you just wouldn't see it anywhere else. Lots of people own guns more than you would think Car ownership and firearm ownership are close I bet. Firearm are a lot cheaper than cars and many people own more than one firearm. It has been estimated that over 50 percent of the us population owns firearms or has owned one at some point.
Okay I agree with you in this video, trying to fight back is probably more dangerous than just giving them your money. But imagine if everybody fought back, people would be much less likely to commit those types of crimes if they knew that somebody might pull a gun on them and shoot back. There is a gun community in most towns and cities and guns are a lot of fun to shoot. Protection is of course a factor here as well. Sure some people that properly own guns commit crimes but that would happen with a sword for example if no guns were around
@guitarfuckist The real problem is that when you popularize the sale and usage of automatic weapons and whatnot, they wind up spreading through the country and beyond. No law or regulation can stop that, but they can slow it down. There's a reason that there's so much drug violence in Mexico- we're practically pouring all sorts of lethal hardware into the country. Unless the sales of these weapons completely stop (which I highly doubt), this will always be some sort of an issue.
@FamineIsAwesome I'm a little confused. The AK47 was designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov during world war 2 in order to have a reliable weapon for the Soviet front line against Germany. How was the persons comment uneducated? Simplistic, maybe, but that's about it. It was designed to shoot accurately and produce effective results, reliably under extreme weather conditions on the battlefield. Sure it can be used for hunting, but it was designed (by a soldier) for war.

I think there's likely a good number people who buy a gun under the impression that they are going to be a responsible, law abiding citizen. Then they get desperate for cash or hooked on drugs and need drug money or decide they hate their wife/husband or simply lose track of their gun or blow some stupid dispute out of proportion... and what do you know, there's a gun right there.

My household has guns because we're in a bit of a rural area (not like big farms and no roads, just a private road and woodsy) and things like boar and bears are a legitimate threat when we're outside,especially at night.

@SomeGuyFromCrowd You dont. Hell when I deer hunt I use a bow. I do own some pretty flashy guns though, and its for fun more than anything else. There is a gun community in most towns and cities and guns are a lot of fun to shoot. Protection is of course a factor here as well. A common motto within the gun community is "If you outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns". Sure some people that properly own guns commit crimes but that would happen with a sword for example if no guns were around

@guitarfuckist The real problem is that when you popularize the sale and usage of automatic weapons and whatnot, they wind up spreading through the country and beyond. No law or regulation can stop that, but they can slow it down. There's a reason that there's so much drug violence in Mexico- we're practically pouring all sorts of lethal hardware into the country. Unless the sales of these weapons completely stop (which I highly doubt), this will always be some sort of an issue.

@FamineIsAwesome I'm a little confused. The AK47 was designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov during world war 2 in order to have a reliable weapon for the Soviet front line against Germany. How was the persons comment uneducated? Simplistic, maybe, but that's about it. It was designed to shoot accurately and produce effective results, reliably under extreme weather conditions on the battlefield. Sure it can be used for hunting, but it was designed (by a soldier) for war.

How about making it so people wanting to buy a gun a psychologic evaluation? If one is unfit mentally they don't get a gun thus preventing a potential mad gunman like the kind of the people the right-wing exploit?

@gulbirk youre logic would maybe make sense if it wasnt for the fact that the robber, who is a criminal, is most likely connected to a network of other criminals that will always have access to firearms via the black market. this will never change, because 1. u will always have the criminal element and 2. guns have been in constant production for over a hundred years, and there are hundreds of millions in circulation. sorry, but your argument that u picked up from too much tv doesnt hold water.

Sorry, YOUR argument dont hold water. Any modern state could easily start by collecting all the guns in the population and start a destruction of guns. It will happen. I wont even argue over this. Guns are a waste of resources, and its about time they are brought out of existence.

@gulbirk a waste of resources? wtf does that even mean. some people like to hunt rather than buy shit food at the store thats loaded with growth hormones and pesticides. others might own a gun to give them peace of mind cause they live near the border where theres a war between cartels. but lets do it your way and ban guns, so long as we ban cars, alcohol, tobacco, most pharmaceuticals, and anything thats linked to cancer since these kill way more people in america than guns do. shit4brains
