@CaptainGaruda YES, you do not need a secret security clearance. However, being a Corpsman for the Recon Marines or the SEALs would not be allowed, until you get your citizenship, good luck

@TardMan158 kind of complicated but put simply once u finish corpsman training your are a 0000 or quad zero, u can request 8404 or FMSS which is now called fmtb in your contract once you finish fmtb(field medical training battion) you can go with the marines which is fmf (Fleet Marine Force) which is highly respected in the corpsman world. i'm personally a 8404 corpsman stationed with 3/4 marines.

no we can not wear either or uniforms. only way we wear marine corps cammies are if we are Stationed directly with the marines or deployed with them.

Corpsmans can wear the us Marine uniform when their assigned to their fleet marines.The only difference in the uniform is that where it says "US Marines" it says "US NAVY" and the ranks are different.

my former units were 3/1 and 1/1, Camp Pendleton, CA 92055, Camp Horno or Camp Oven....ooooooooooohrahhhhhhhh­hh. I was a former FMF Corpsman with 1st Marines, do not forget to do a whole lot of PT, the Marines will run the "dog shit" out of you, be ready and don't report for duty as a "fat body" or they will put you on remedial PT; this use to be on pay days for fat bodies, so stay in shape and not straggling, Marines hate stragglers, so stay in shape, Doc Garner, 8404 Watford, signing off!

If you are a corpsman with the marines then yes you are attached to the marine corps. If marines are apart of a MEU (marine expeditionary force) then yes you they are attached with the navy the point is you are a Hospital Corpsman yes, but do your research serving with marines is what we do and as a combat corpsman myself I do wear my FMF warfare device with pride and it disgust me to hear corpsman afraid to go with the corps.

I have been out of field med for a while. the major this is know your marine corps knowledge. brush up on your knowledge and learn the rank system before you go to school. PT, PT, PT!!! Marines love to PT and are very good at it. as a corpsman u are expected to be better cause u have to do your job plus thier job. You will kick down doors just as they do you will carry a rifle and you will answer to thier CO. Basically for school, learn your knowledge and get in shape.

our new uniforms are similar neway. you will also have to maintain two seabags, marine corps pft, and marine regs if you sign that stupid paper saying you want to go marine regs. Just for the record I went through field med with 2 HMC over 12 years 1 first class and like 4 second classesget prepared it could happen

The whole point of our rate is to serve with sailors and marines so get used to it.....uniforms if you are with the corps you will wear the digital cammies. you will still wear our uniforms also the only thing you will wear are the green and tan digital cammies. if you CHOOSE to go marine regs you can wear all the marine uniforms (cross dress) EXCEPT thier dress blues (the ones everyone loves)

Yes eventually you will go to FMSS or FMTB now. YOU WILL go to the school. there are people who have been to the school and never been to a unit. it i just to prepare our sailors to be set up for anything. corpsman are versatile and you should be proud of that.

I'm not sure what you have to do to go FMF, but I'm pretty certain its on a volunteer basis. The requirement I've come across are that you have to be an E-3 and pass the USMC's physical fitness standards.

I'm sure if you DONT want to go FMF you wont be forced to.

There was talk of making FMF training mandatory for all male corpsmen, but thats just a rumor. You might get assigned to a ship though 'Blueside', depends what you specialize in, not many heart surgeons on ships.

No you do not have to be E-3 to go FMF. And if you are corpsman you will eventually go to FMTB school. Might not be right out of A school, but they will send you to it.

I have have been in 6 yrs now. when i was a e-3 i went through fmss (fmtb) and i went through with two chiefs, and some first and second classes who have been in for a while and had c schools. they were told they had to go through the school. it is slowly becoming a pipeline. that doesn't mean that will be stationed with the corps it just means u have that chance.

they're the 'medics' for marine combat units. Since the Marine corps only specializes in killing the navy has a specialized Corpsman training to patch up Marines and be able to keep up with them on the battlefield

Yes. Fleet Marine Force Docs are Navy Combat Corpsman who train and fight with their marines.. In this video they seem to be practicing Marine Corps Martial Arts.. hard to tell who is who since they all wear the same digis.
