True pioneering. The first stories were documented back to the 70s, but who knows if anything circulated prior to even that. At around 1:50 the songs goes, "Steal my breath away," and Spock's lips move almost so perfectly-- I mean, the timing was AMAZING-- that it stole my breath away. That was one of the best Spirk vids I've seen in a long time.

Bring Back Kirk Prime. If anyone remembers the Original Series Season 1 had many elements of the Twilight Zone and the Outer Limits. Danger, strangeness, Characters going from Highs to Extreme Lows. They were really Dragged through the mud.
Both Scotty and Mc'coy were killed in Season One. Spock died in one of the films..
Then there's The Apple, which is notable for Spock almost dying three times. Kirk 'died' at least once a season. Amok Time and The Enterprise Incident come to mind. And twice in one movie. But I have to say, the time he got the bridge dropped on him was pretty damn convincing. Hard to come back from. And Shatner's not exactly at his best.
Y'know. I'd love to see the NuTrek version of The Naked Time. xD Talk about extreme highs and lows.

Chris Pine was beyond perfect for the part of young James Kirk, even if he is half a foot taller than Shatner. Maybe original Kirk's stay on Kodos planet exposed him to Higher Gravity so he didn't get as tall at the end of his teen years ! ?
They can still bring original Kirk into the Fold. It is Sci-Fi. In that realm you ca ndo near anything such as kill off Spock and bring him back.
More likely it was traumatic shock that stunted his growth than higher gravity. He had to be rather up close and personal with the massacre to be one of nine left alive able to identify Kodos. That can have rather dramatic physiological effects on children.
Yes, I suppose you can bring anyone back to life, but at this point Kirk has been so killed off for good it would seem contrived. More to the point, Shatner is hardly at his best anymore. It might be better to leave the old Kirk as a memory.

"Spock's World" is a book written by Diane Duane for the ST series. First printing was Aug. of 1989. This book goes through the history of Vulcan and what is happening in the time of TOS. It is a very interesting look at another world and how they may have come to be what they are. I found my copy at used book store. There are many older books in the TOS series that are just as good. GOOD HUNTING!!!!

Pon farr only occurs every seven years, so even if Spock was biologically compelled to mate with someone of the opposite sex(to keep the species going) wouldn't he be able to have a relationship with someone outside that boundary when he wasn't under pon farr's influence? I hope that's not wishful thinking on my part. :)
@bagbunny : You do have a point. Since the different sexuallities are natural here on earth it is possible that other planets could have the same thing. We just won't know until we get into deep space and find out about the other worlds in our galaxy. It seems to me that if there are 'Vulcans' in out there more than the women of earth will be interested in them.
@bagbunny its not wishful thinking, Vulcans do mate outside of pon farr, they are like humans that way, they don't just do it to reproduce but to be close to the ones they are to be with.

Kirk and Spock firendship has had its up and downs, but they seemed work out their different opions, and weather out the trouble, together. Spock will always be at Kirk side, as friends and brothers in arms.
well kirk and spock work so well is because they never realy see eye to eye but they no wat they need to do to get the job done thats wats makes them great freinds & maybe even rivals
No; we don't think it should be Spock/Uhura, only for the fact that in the Original Series, it was Spock and Kirk that were so close, that were T'hy'la. (Roddenberry even wrote it in a book!) We prefer that Spock/Kirk be together, because they are soulmates, made to complete each other, something Roddenberry ALSO admitted to. That's why we don't pair Spock/Uhura together, because Spock was made for Kirk, and Kirk was made for Spock.

Absolutely right. Spock and Kirk were meant for each other and it was plain to see from the original series. The whole spock/uhura thing kinda put me off.
I believe that the Spock/Kirk parring is more of BROTHERS not lovers. They are like twins in a past life coming together in a new life time. You have to admit that in the origanal series that each of them did get a girl every now and then.
Yeah, that's possible. (Actually, there were only one real instance in which Kirk fell in love with a woman. Every other girl were for other reasons and/or he was not in his right mind.)
I can see Kirk/Spock as brothers, for sure. But my view is, while they were possibly just brothers, there was sufficient love between them to be romantic. I am not saying here nor there that their relationship was romantic physically.
Actually, Roddenberry himself said that "the affection [between Kirk and Spock] was sufficient [for a sexual relationship], if that were the particular style of the 23rd century." So in other words, the only thing constraining them would be social mores, *if* such mores existed at that time, and I doubt they would. Logically, one would assume that their relationship was, in fact, sexual. ;)
The interdependant trio of Kirk, Spock and McCoy, each is less without the other. Remember what state each was in at the start of TMP? Kirk was desk bound, McCoy was ott on the irrasible doctor and Spock was trying to gain kohlinar, the purging of all emotion. Even in the 2009 movie, Kirk would have either helped or stopped Spock if he had of been there. Spock was the head, McCoy was the heart and Kirk listened to both, then came up with the command decisions, but they were also best friends.

Haha, well I thought it was great! And the thing about the movie that phenomenal though is that it opened up a whole new generation to the glory that is star trek and to the wonder that is Kirk and Spock. It's not just a "trekkie" thing anymore- people who went to that movie to make fun of it ended up being converted! I just think its so cool. It's vids like this that help bring new life back to an old pair, and that rocks. :)

does anyone else think the first scene between kirk and spock prime is really hot or am I just perverted because of some fanfics I've read? I think it's the whole mindmeld thing. That's supposed to be really emotional and it was executed really well.

I thought it was hot, and since I was only introduced to this pairing waaaaay late last night after only just rewatching some episodes (saw the ORIGINAL show as a kid, mega reruns, and so I missed teh slashies), I have yet to read any Spirk fanfics. ^^
And whomever thinks their platonic, needs to brush up on their TOS. lol

This was perfect and so well done... but... this gay boy is kinda tired of the Kirk/Spock slash vids. I love the new direction they are taking Star Trek and I want to see either some Nimoy/Quinto vids or some Spock/Uhura vids. (Every gay boy wanted to be Uhura in the 70s).

Wonderful. Embodies the essence that is forever Kirk and Spock, no matter what universe. I only hope that the sequels builds up the K/S friendship and bond.
(Most likely they won't put any romance between them, regardless of the fact that its supposed to be 200 years in the future and you'd think by then that humanity would get over its stupid biases by then...) But hey...this is hollywood. All about money.

"Spock's World" is a book written by Diane Duane for the ST series. First printing was Aug. of 1989. This book goes through the history of Vulcan and what is happening in the time of TOS. It is a very interesting look at another world and how they may have come to be what they are. I found my copy at used book store. There are many older books in the TOS series that are just as good. GOOD HUNTING!!!!

Pon farr only occurs every seven years, so even if Spock was biologically compelled to mate with someone of the opposite sex(to keep the species going) wouldn't he be able to have a relationship with someone outside that boundary when he wasn't under pon farr's influence? I hope that's not wishful thinking on my part. :)

@bagbunny : You do have a point. Since the different sexuallities are natural here on earth it is possible that other planets could have the same thing. We just won't know until we get into deep space and find out about the other worlds in our galaxy. It seems to me that if there are 'Vulcans' in out there more than the women of earth will be interested in them.

@bagbunny its not wishful thinking, Vulcans do mate outside of pon farr, they are like humans that way, they don't just do it to reproduce but to be close to the ones they are to be with.

Kirk and Spock firendship has had its up and downs, but they seemed work out their different opions, and weather out the trouble, together. Spock will always be at Kirk side, as friends and brothers in arms.

No; we don't think it should be Spock/Uhura, only for the fact that in the Original Series, it was Spock and Kirk that were so close, that were T'hy'la. (Roddenberry even wrote it in a book!) We prefer that Spock/Kirk be together, because they are soulmates, made to complete each other, something Roddenberry ALSO admitted to. That's why we don't pair Spock/Uhura together, because Spock was made for Kirk, and Kirk was made for Spock.

I believe that the Spock/Kirk parring is more of BROTHERS not lovers. They are like twins in a past life coming together in a new life time. You have to admit that in the origanal series that each of them did get a girl every now and then.

Yeah, that's possible. (Actually, there were only one real instance in which Kirk fell in love with a woman. Every other girl were for other reasons and/or he was not in his right mind.)
I can see Kirk/Spock as brothers, for sure. But my view is, while they were possibly just brothers, there was sufficient love between them to be romantic. I am not saying here nor there that their relationship was romantic physically.
I only state the possiblity. :)

Actually, Roddenberry himself said that "the affection [between Kirk and Spock] was sufficient [for a sexual relationship], if that were the particular style of the 23rd century." So in other words, the only thing constraining them would be social mores, *if* such mores existed at that time, and I doubt they would. Logically, one would assume that their relationship was, in fact, sexual. ;)

The interdependant trio of Kirk, Spock and McCoy, each is less without the other. Remember what state each was in at the start of TMP? Kirk was desk bound, McCoy was ott on the irrasible doctor and Spock was trying to gain kohlinar, the purging of all emotion. Even in the 2009 movie, Kirk would have either helped or stopped Spock if he had of been there. Spock was the head, McCoy was the heart and Kirk listened to both, then came up with the command decisions, but they were also best friends.

In fact, he's gone on record saying that it would be interesting to see sylar (his character on Heroes) with Mohinder (another male character), just to see the fan's reaction, so...

This was a very good video! I enjoyed the footage and thought the song choice was perfect. A very beautiful song.
My only critique has to do with the fact that some of the footage seems to have nothing to do with the song and acts merely as fillers. I understand that you only have so much to work from, so it can slide. Just a comment for future work. ^_^

Haha, well I thought it was great! And the thing about the movie that phenomenal though is that it opened up a whole new generation to the glory that is star trek and to the wonder that is Kirk and Spock. It's not just a "trekkie" thing anymore- people who went to that movie to make fun of it ended up being converted! I just think its so cool. It's vids like this that help bring new life back to an old pair, and that rocks. :)
