Most Reggae songs follow a similiar strumming pattern and (time signature which is not your usual 4/4 tim). which includes a percussive element (in this case he's playing bar chords, and every so often you hear a mute hit on the strigns (he's lifted his fingers lightly off strings, still touching though, it gives him the percussive element.))
