3. Normal video cable from DVD player to projector.
4. Serial cable from laptop to projector.
Audio:
1. A mixer cable like a canon audio-video stereo cable - a 1:2 or 1:3 cable that can combine one video with 1 or 2 audio ports :
Split the audio legs between the DVD audio and VCR audio ports - connect the single side to a good volume speaker laptop [try using video leg for stereo; works :-)]
just got it yesterday and typing this on a 120in screen at 1024x768 get this and you wont be disappointed has LOTS OF FEATURES. also has awesome keystone correction. contrast is amazing!! sometimes you can see some pix elation, buy only on composite and it is hardly noticeable. It is also incredibly bright!!!
I would definately get the projector but keep in mind that depending on how you use it, it could cost and extra 310$ to replace the bulb. the bulb lasts up to 3000hrs in eco-mode so you should be fine. It is your decision so get what works for you.
I can imagine - hv been looking for good TV replacements right from the time I arrived in the US - like 8 yrs back, but like you said the hi-performance DLP's have always been at the 1500+ levels. Only over the past one year hv those prices gone to the sub-500USD range and I am sure, even less - the XVGA Viewsonic PJ551D with speakers is now available in Costco at 600$. And all these do NTSC, PAL and most formats, so it can be used worldwide without spending 2K+ for lcd/plasma.
can you watch blue ray with the projector?
Thanks

It's the only small lump of cash i will have in a while So its between this and a 1tb external HDD.
Could really use the storage-space, but a HDD is just SO BORING! . :) lol

Good to know that you are enjoying it as I am. I should be charging Viewsonic some commissions for marketing their product ;-)

lol :P your cool.
Thank you so much for your effort!, you pretty much covered it all.
First time a projector as been released at this price.
The same tech inside your Pj503d
was retailing on almost identical models back in 2002 for almost $3000 AUD.
It's great when tech becomes affordable :)
May good things come your way! :)
Cheers !
