If you had a valve at the base of the system that could be actuated from the outside, it would prevent the risk of damaging plants when taking the lid off during the switch from top drip to aeroponic, or perhaps a side access hatch would be good.
Will you make more videos Matt(and crew)? This has helped me grow my shady tomatoes a lot. I went from ebb and flo to DWC with top drip rings from watching these vids. THANK YOU
@Nenavist0341 thank you for the email. Glad we could help...not sure about doing more STG videos, but in a couple months all our subscribers will get a first look at our next generation of products for the indoor grower. it will not be a grow media, but something just as unique as STG was to media, this new technolgoy will be for its application. Stay tuned...
Those black and yellow tubs will leak out the sides (much easier than a taller style tote). A little extra light gets to the roots with the yellow tops...A dark color 30 gallon sterlite container tends to work better. ...the manifold looks well thought out...
Of all your videos I found this one to be the most informing, I use those tubs, they're very popular as I'm sure you're well aware for our types of growing projects, I would like to thank you for the sure fit idea, it's a very positive one, and I my self am frequently annoyed by pulling lines off barbs, also, the modification in the manifold that allows it to function as a drip system is an eloquent solution to a common issue. The most successful systems I've seen are hybrids DRIP/AERO/FLOOD/DWC
I have been watching videos for days collecting peices of information that I could not really connect. This video alone brought it all together. Thanks for taking the time to make it!
@jiggysmb We get a lot of negative comments, it is greatly apprecited, when we hear from people who appreciate the efforts we have made to educate growers on hydroponics who know little about it.
@thegame52291 can any one confirm this? because to me it just seems like hat man is just having a bad day and the other dude is a lil chipper y. i would like to know the story behind the men though
I was thinking of attaching the pump to a water timer and having it run off solar power. The timer would also activate servos that would switch water flow from top drip to bottom spray and time the sprays. Thinking of making a custom circuit I could program or just purchasing a commercial water timer, give me some input
soooo as soon as the roots hit the water in an aeroponic system, it decomes a dwc correct? so y keep the sprinklers on wasting electricity if the roots are submerged in the bubbly water??
@227matatan NOOO, aeroponic systems use spray emitters that spray the media and roots. DWC uses a pump to create bubbles and air in a nutrient enriched bath that roots eventually live and grow in. if you are still not clear, please feel free to call our office, happy to talk things out with you. Thanks for the question
@estradju Thanks for the views. "What you see is what you get" We produced our videos to help educate growers and expand their hydroponics universe. We do answer simple questions and of course anything STG related. We take you to a point, the rest is up to you. Best of luck.
could you give us an exact supply list. I noticed that the elbows have a hole at the bottom to facilitate the leg. Also, if you could tell us how to add the nutrients and which antelco sprinklers you should use.

However I was wondering if you guys could give some tips picking a water pump the right size for say...16 10gph Sprinklers. (I would guess a 160gph pump) but i was doing some prelim testing wiht one on only 4 sprinklers and results were shakey at best...any tips SureToGrow?
this is my very first time building an aeroponic system and to tell u the truth this is not hard to build at all i thought it was very easy to build its kinda like legos, and threading the holes is very easy especially when u use the drill to thread instead
this is my very first time building an aeroponic system and to tell u the truth this is not hard to build at all i thought it was very easy to build its kinda like legos
i got a question when do i change the water in an aeroponic system how lond do i use the same water for ? do i change teh water every two weeks every month or when ???
I can't find it either. I've been looking forward to seeing the demo vid for a while. I'm about to erect one of these beasts.....or a similar one anyways. These videos are great and Jeremy is a must. He keeps things interesting with his on-screen antics!
the downside to aeroponic system i have found is on plants with big roots the roots eventually get some big they start to outgrow the container as they have nothing to go through and end up stopping the sprayer spinning. i have found they are best on plants that dont have large root systems or medium sized plants. i like the aeroponic system with a seperate resovoir which allows the roots to hang in air more but
i come with an idea how to reduce the problem with aeroponic systems of excessive condensation in the root chamber which causes that bad smell in the root chamber. Install a waterproof intake and outake fan in the root chamber. that way you will suck in fresh air and extrac the stale air. Gotta be worth trying. who nos what kind of improvements this might bring. Imagine co2 in the root zone also
OK, I just built a copy of the manifold you have here. I still need to drill the holes and I can't tell how you placed the holes for the sprinklers. Are they drilled all on top of the pipe or are some drilled off to the side of the pipe? Do the sprinklers spray upward or do I need to drill some of the holes off center to get the spray going upward? Does my question make sense? I'd like to send you a picture of my manifold, I think I did a pretty good job of it. Thanks, Dave
Hey What if I use ez clone 360 sprayers instead of the micro ones?? Also do you need a air stone if you have the micro sprinklers? what is a good and reliable PH tester to buy? And the best cycle to run the pump is 1 minute on and 3 minutes off? Leave the air stone on 24/7? Thanks so much
@twinturbo160 EZ clone sprayers will work, but will most likely clog after a short time. Control wizard products (CWP) makes a fairly cheap tri-meter that will last you a while. 1 on 3 off is the simplest timer configuration to use, and are available through every hydroponic store.
Going by the color coding. That green color in those Antelco sprayers means they have an .050" (1.3mm). orifice. The EZ clones are usually red which would be .060" (1.5mm). Some units use blue sprayers .040" (1.0mm)
I found these videos very informative but have a few questions about the aero-hybrid system. Do u clean in between water changes, if so how since the plants root system will get so big? Is the pump on all the time or is it on a timer? How much water should u add, about 1/2 or 1/3 container? Sorry if im in the wrong place i didnt see this info on your site.
@entisaurus Cleaning between nutrient changes is not needed until after harvest...(when plants are gone) You need to maintain a level above the pump, so that when the system is on, it doesn't put strain on the pump, by sucking air. Look for an aeroponic timer, 1 minute on, 3 minutes off.
the downside of the fact that your media doesnt wick is that you have to make 3 systems in one to make it work. the three systems is really really overkill.
Specifically what is the point of Jeremy Borgers involvement in the videos series? From drilling holes in foam- plugging an airline into a pump- running drip line or threading 1/2" tubing through the lid of the rez he fails epically. Without question he is the least coordinated man on on earth. On the up side all the Sure to Grow products I've used have been fantastic. Looking forward to running the Hail.
My point was that Jeremy can't do it. I'm sure Borger is a nice guy- however slipping an air hose on a diffuser isn't rocket science. LOL! The hole saw through foam fail was my personal favorite. Jeremy must be in the IT or shipping dept. Matt clearly knows his shit-- and it wasn't learned growing lettuce and peppers. Regardless- I like the products I've tried and would recommend them.
i think he's hilarious to be honest. imho he plays the part of the new grower aka me. i think it's comic relief and is a good part. just my 2c. He asks the questions that a beginner would ask, not sure if it's set up or not him asking but it's good. But yes least coordinated lol!!

Is the aeroponics on all the time or on a timer
EyeintheSkys 4 months ago
your pump needs to push at least 200gph to operate effectively. i used a 185gph, and it couldn't feed effectively. good setup though.
should i run the top drip and aeroponic setup on a timer or constant?

@YouTubzie we share your concerns about BPA. that is why we use PET, not PVC. PET is food safe and does not contain BPA.
