The real solution to the commercial fishing problem is to farm fish. We have cattle, pigs, etc. for food so why not do the same with fish? This way there will still be fish in the ocean which people (like myself) can catch recreationally, and we would still have our food. Simply stopping isn't the answer, farming is.

I've DONE THIS!! I did it on a small fishing boat in the Maldives. No reels, just line as long as the fibreglass pole, and a home made hook made from a nail. Very selective method of fishing - quick and tidy - nothing like the indiscriminate killing of unwanted species in nets.

Given other methods of harvesting Tuna, this is probably the best. Its species specific unlike longlines and nets. Its the most humane, as a bled and frozen Tuna dies fastest and experiences the least stress. It also appears to employ a bunch of people, which is always a bonus.
