Is this an old cartoon? For years, I've been trying to find a cartoon that I saw in the movie theaters as a kid, that I loved. I've been telling people about it since I saw it & nobody knows what I was talking about. I only remembered "Boogie Woogie" & the cartoon man with glasses moving around. What year was this cartoon?
@jgmusic526 -Hi just spotted your comment! The recording I used was of a section of "Hamp's Boogie". However although I did clear copyright (as I did on all my stuff for TV) on both recording artist and recording label I'm afraid that I cannot remember their names - as I did this way back in the 1970's -sorry! The very advanced visual culture that was achieved in middle age Europe (and Asia) had to be destroyed. The group who took over pictorial art as well as music in the early to mid-20th century, redefined those two arts for very clear political purposes. As a result, Art in the 21st century has no meaning whatsoever. It’s WHO promotes it, WHO sells it, WHO markets it, WHO appoints the "experts" that tells us what Beauty is. I expose that in my "Art" video.
Wonderful film that feels very nostalgic to me, as I strongly remember seeing it many times on TV during my childhood (Quebec, Canada in the 80's). Of course it's what introduced me to Mondrian's artwork, which I've always been attracted to ever since.
I am so glad this came up as a recommended video I just LOVE it.
I'm not the greatest with technology, but I was surprised to read in the comments that you did this without the aid of a computer. It is a wonderful concept so, surely, it would have made for a cool video either way - but this must have been a true labor of love for you!
Thanks- if computers had been aroun when I made this I would have used them..however I knew no different so was quite happy painting. Loved your cllection of painterlyy Videos on your very lively site.
I appreciate that you took the time to check out my channel. The goal is to, sooner or later, make & post videos of my own - nothing fancy, simply to show my creative adventures.
In the mean time, I've been enjoying the mini-masterpieces of others. Today I discovered the 'Mondrian for All' video & was pleased to add it for the insight into the original. Knowing the thought process behind the music takes both Mondrian's art, & your's, to a whole new level.
I'm afraid I do not know of the movie on Mondrian you describe - it sounds very interesting - all I can advise is you type in "Mondrian" and keep looking! Good luck - Sheila
i saw a video of Mondrain, but constructing a house with blacks lines, and square reds, blues and yellows.. behind a soundtrack of electronic music.. i need this video.. for Architecture.. please help me!!.. i hope one answer
Thanks - I timed a piece of Boogie Woogie recorded onto sprocketed 16mm Magnetic Film then drew all images on a light box by hand then traced and painted - filming on a 16mm film camera. Today I'd do it via computer - that would be a LOT easier!!
Thank you for liking my stuff, and it is a great honour for me to hear it from a famous animator. It will take some time to wach all your films but I like your style, and your knowledge of art history shines through your work. I wish I could be your student!
Excellent. I really enjoyed making my own 'Mondrian Jazz' movie and this looks like you also enjoyed your own project. What animation program did you use? I used Artoonix.
