Who is first credited to actually "kick" kick flips vs "mob flip"?
That Neen guy has really outdone the heelflip ninja kick, but was wondering when kickflips started to be styled more kicked out than pushed down? Any ideas?
Jeez, I'm not sure when kickflips changed. I would say it probably came when boards flattened out right about this time, in like 1991 or 1992. I can't pinpoint the first dude I remember but I could figure it out with a little work.
Kareem was good. Watch me freestyle the same year at the same location. I competed against Kareem, and Daewon Song, among a few other big name a semi big name skaters back then. I usually beat all of them in the freestyle contests. Key word search: "John Trimble age 16 Freestyle Contest 1991_1st place". Even shows Kareem, Daewon and a few others in the background as I'm receiving my 1st place trophy and Daewon receiving his 2nd place. I'm allowed to brag since Freestyle was my expertise.
Even better than that, when I was going through the tapes of these, they all gave the same score, EVERY run. 79-80-81, their scale was like from 76-82 and nothing above or below. Funny and lame.
i wasnt talking shit you STUPID FUCK. thats why i said thank god skateboarding progresses. YOU FUCKING IDIOT. was born in 82' STUPID FUCK. go get layed or somethin useful instead of pickin fights on youtube STUPID FUCK. RSC4LIFE
She wasn't judging but she might as well have been. After going through the tapes and watching this footage, those judges back then gave everyone the same score, every run. It was so funny to watch. Seriously, 78-79-80 were the only ones they used. I judge pro contests now and thought it was really funny to see.

I almost forgot about the concept of a "flatland" contest. I skated some back in the day for sure.
