The spoiler was an option at the time. Look at the CCXR in this video, it already has spoiler and it was filmed 2 days before the Top Gear crash. Ya, it's not the greatest looking car. expecially from the front view. But it's also the fastest car in the world so that really is the primary reason why someone would buy it.
