I love the comments. Perhaps a better explanation or title would be Wu Shu training. The school consisted of around 4,000 students who will spend 10 to 15 years of their lives living and training at the school with little emphasis on academics. The school does select the best students to be part of a troupe which does performances in conjunction with the Shao Lin temple which is a 30 min taxi drive away. Very fun and very interesting place to live for a short time.

This looks like generic Wu Shu to me. Shao-Lin or Little Forest refers to the sub-sect of Buddhism known in China as Ch'an. Travelers from modern day India came with Mahayana Buddhism and it melded with Taoism and Confuscianism to form Shao-Lin or Siu-Lum in Cantonese.
