I did this and it works. BUT I also managed to get it to work in normal mode. When it is stuck at the black screen hit the lock button then unlock it. It took 2 times but that got it working in regular mode for me.

Sorry, but I am getting sporadic results with this but for some reason when I tap the screen a bunch while it is in the blackscreen it seems to get moving. I have no idea what is going on, but it seems to work.

changing the properties to 775 will not work on a iphone 2g firmware 2.2. this is an interesting fix because it is the only fix there is to make this work. Thanks for the help man greatly appreciated. :)
