  • Love this song!!! So true. Grew up in CB and just moved to Florida, this song makes me miss home. Everything in this song is true. Don't miss what you had until you've left it.

  • Well done Rick from a fellow ALHS grad ..

  • CB, that's my home town. I still cruise Broadway when I get back home, just like I did in the 50's and 60's. Born there, went to Washington Elementary and TJ High. Thanks so much.

  • My cousin Glenn Pevehouse played lead guitar with Rick in Las Vegas back in 1991. Cool to find him here on youtube.

More talent than anyone in the top 40 right now! Keep on rockin Rick.

  • "..the kids drive down Broadway just to turn around and do it again." nailed it, nailed it, nailed it. Got me in tears. I guess you really don't miss a place untill you realize you've left it for good.

  • You know, lookin back CB wasn't a bad place. I went to IWCC for a few years. Had some good times.

  • I really love the video. I emigrated from the UK to Co. Bluffs in 1956. I came back to the UK after a number of years. I have been back several times since. Still have family there. I'm now homesick for Co. Bluffs after seeing this.

  • i luv this song rick!!

  • Nice job Rick, you sound great! -Zach's dad-

  • I just broke down and cried when I heard and seen this video!I got to see my old apartment on broadway! There are so many memories I will always have in my heart!I miss it something terrible.Even though I am only 5 hours away I will always be traveling back to see where I raised my kids.Thank You so very much!God Bless!

  • Thank You so much,

You're a Blessing. A Wonderful Video. It brought many smiles and tears. It is still my home town to me. I was born and raised in Council Bluffs. I had to leave as my husband was called to a job here in Minnesota. I love your song too. I love seeing the Strand Theatre again and all of the other stores. What GREAT MEMORIES! It's so nice to see that someone else appreciates Council Bluffs. You are a Blessing from God Above. Christine Bridges

  • Great song, great video...Brought back great memories! I was born in C.B., went to Avenue B School, Woodrow Wilson Jr. High, then graduated from TJ in 1970. I liked seeing the A& W Root Beer stand where I got my first job. (It was a block from my house on 21st & A.) Even though I've lived in San Diego since 1976, I will always have fond memories of growing up in Council Bluffs.

  • Beautiful video. My husband and I graduated from AL, cruised broadway in the late 50's early 60's from end to end and YES turned around and did it again.... thanks for the memories.

  • Cool Video! Even if it is Counciltucky, it is home and those are great memories from childhood. It's always fun seeing and trying to remember where things were. Are you related to Jason and MaryJo? My daughter and I went on the orchestra cruise with them and I thought it looked like MaryJo in the video. Thanks for doing this, it was a lot of fun!

  • I absolutely love this video. I am 61 now, grew up and played around the black angel, Lincoln's monument and the four cannons in the cemetery off Oakland Avenue. I love the fountain in the park, Tee Jay H.S., and Washington Grade School.

I remember look out point in Fairmount Park and dances at Crystal Lodge. It was a great time and this video brought me back to some of the best moments of my life. Thank you to Mr. Spurgin and those who made this video possible. Thanks from the 8 Poulos kids

  • My old house is on your video, Rick. I lived next door to Jeanne Spurgin we grew up together. Are you related? If so would love to find her again. i live in Des Moines, IA now.

  • This is a great song and video. It really is, despite what comes next: As an Omahan, it is my duty to pick on Iowans, so here goes: About the car on blocks - why is it a '66 Caprice in back and a '67 up front? LOved it anyway!

  • Rick,

Thanks for the fabulous tribute! It brought back wonderful memories. The Strand Theatre 50cents for a show, The Black Angel, the Golden Spike, Bayliss Park and the fountain and of course cruising up and down Broadway. I have moved away to Tennessee, but my parents still live there. I bring my children back to visit. It has truly changed over the years. Thanks for such a nice memory!

  • S. Nice to see your comments. I moved to Clarksville 20 years ago from Council Bluffs. I went home this summer to visit my dad and things have changed. Still made in to Pizza King and a tenderloin sandwich though. S. try to catch up with me at Saturn of Clarksville. Do you still play tennis? G Gillman.

  • Such bittersweet memories this video brought to mind-all good, though. It's never too late to have a happy childhood when you're willing to re-frame events. Blessings to all and thanks for sharing, Rick--fka RitaT/70

  • Rick, thanks for posting this, it's nice to see the city that I came from. Nice to hear a voice that I went to school with!! Nice to see Miss Mary Jo all grown up as well.

  • I got tears in my eyes watching this, seeing all the familiar things in Council Bluffs that I miss so much! Especially the old Strand Theater! Thanks so much, Rick!!

  • Wow! What memories. Last September I went back for my 40th reunion from A.L. Our town is doing well. Thanks, Rick.

  • Thank you for a great video I was born in CB in the early 40's. My father was a fireman there from the 20's-40's. We lived on Broadway across from TJ high school and his fire station was on about 23rd and Broadway. The pictures brings back a lot of memories. We do visit about every two years. fireman kid

  • Good video. I have many memories of Council Bluffs. My mother & father grew up there along with Aunt & Uncle & Cousins and many family friends. My family moved to Phoenix Az in 1952, but spent many vacations with family in Council Bluffs. Turn left at the big church and down Harrison where Aunt & Uncle lived, then up the hill on Lainson Ave where my grandfather lived. They are all buried there now. I love them and my fond childhood memories. Bill A.

  • cool

  • Hi Council Bluffians! I just want to say, it is awesome to see pictures of home, when I am 2000 miles away. I'll be back to visit someday! I love Council Bluffs! It's more beautiful, when you live so far away.
