@28larss...yeah aside from the fact that Morrissey is completely wedged up his own arse and most of the Smiths best output can't hold a candle to say, for example, I am the resurrection and even a lot of Roses B-sides....yes it is subjective....for me the Smiths are generally too wacky for their own good - lyrically superior to the roses of course, but for overall impact I would rate the smiths like a diluted orange juice where the roses are a good single malt whiskey, but that's just me.

@Annieindie - Well IMHO, I Wouldn't put Ian Browne in the same League as Noel Gallagher when it comes to Songwriting - This song is Pathetic Lyrically, as well as "Ten Story Love Song" and "She Bangs the Drums" - His best lyrics came later on.

Couldn't agree more. Take a look at my music likes on my channel, eclectic to say the least. I can go from the Roses, to Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, Talking Heads to classical. Hate it when people try and claim "the best band ever", all I know is my favourite bands... and readily accept they might not be the next guy's favourite. Although recognising superior musicianship is another story, and I struggle to find many 'indie' bands today with the quality of Squire, Reni and Mani.
