  • 10 dislikes huh? Cluless people.

  • I can only imagine how quickly this was penned .... truly a masterpiece from the heart! xxoxo

  • Oh God! I remember when I made an animated music video to Fox and the Hound with this song , I miss that video. Great song!

  • Cool !

  • Amazing talent. Luv this old group. Old stays new for my soul.

  • Best music ever! I was born in 79' and grew up with the old music from the 70s and 80s. Now I can't even turn on the radio unless it is a classic station. There will never be music like this again....except maybe in heaven.

  • The new "bands" are not bands...they're just NOISE! I won't post 'em! Love my OLDIES! :)

  • all these comments are so right on! i grew up when music wasnt so commercial, although the music even the seventies was crusin right into the diaster it is now though the nineties music wasnt too bad because it was trying to lean on the seventies in some way, but this music here and all of the variety the seventies offered was wonderful and todays music cannot live up to that with the wrong people running the music business...

  • MTV screwed up the entire music business...and Sony has them in the Back pocket...there is no longer artist development...and therefore no more real music...anyone can take a microphone and stick it in their ass and be a star...or between the boobs...and it works...I hate the music of today...and avoid it as much as possible...Long live the Live musician...

  • MIdnight Special picked up where Ed Sullivan left off when presenting the musical talent of the day.

  • The lead guitarist was doing a little B.B. King thing in his solo.

  • Such a great band...shame they ran away and joined some freaky religious cult!

  • Not to many duos like these guys. Great music. Later to be Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

  • I saw Seals & Crofts in July 1978 at the Carowinds Amusement Park Paladium near Charlotte, NC on the NC/SC border. This was the last number that they performed. They said, "Thank you, all" and immediately left the stage. No encore.

  • Note Louis Shelton's guitar solo.

  • wish I could go back to my childhood to hear these songs more

that was REAL music by REAL musicians.

  • there were no videos like now, back in those days, just jammin.

  • Saw these guys in concert in 1977. One of the mellowest, upbeat concerts you would ever see. They are real showmen and know just how to play the crowd.

  • Its a tv show appearance so they instructed the audience to stfu until they finished the performance.

  • "Laughed Out Loud" at RomanticWarrior's comment...seriously, though, I work at a community college and just don't see the crazy romance going on now like when I was that age and I chalk it up to the lack of love songs these kids didn't have the fortune to grow up on...quit texting her and KISS her already!!

  • Wow! How old is Les Claypool?

  • LOL....the one with the beard and hat looke like every high school english teacher I had from 1968 to 72

  • what great performance! incredibel vocals a classic!

  • what great performance!

  • great song increible lyrics

  • Wow, there's actually MUSIC in this music!

Anybody heard a tasteful musical interlude in anything coming out nowadays? I haven't. It seems like the bare minimum of music is made so that the vocalists can dominate everything - a la American Idol.

  • @tonusaitis james seals is one of te best songwriters listen to love is a bird by the knickerbockers

  • @cobaltgoldgoblin, If you were there in the 70's and older than say...8 or 9, you could relate to these two wonderful people. They were 'with it' and conveying the spirit of the time with a sound and style which is signature of 72'-74'. They are odd only if compared to today's pop stars who are not creative and are generating nothing memorable or significant.

  • they were oddballs weren't they

  • Ok, I was looking at this and saw the guy in red, Is that the same guy that sings on Summer Breeze? Sorry lol, just curious

  • @positivepetey yep...

  • @positivepetey YES and king of nothing

  • there was no better time for music you lived it ,you were it. life was place to get lost in.you could feel ever note .the 60s & 70 s will for ever be with me i,m glad i got the chance to grow up some of the best music on the plant

  • The best tune they ever wrote and performed; Too bad Music like this doesn't exist these days.

  • yeah Peter Buck of REM thought he was the first guy to play Mandolin in Rock music, guess again.

  • Where are the shows like the MS where you could see the artists play their music? Hell, where are the artists who actually CAN play their music? Hmmmm....come to think of it, where IS the music?

  • @romanticwarrior97 They're out there, but they not getting heard. These days, withno talent hacks like Rhianna and Britney spears lip-synching onstage and zoomin up the charts, the appreciation for live music has sunk to the value of bird shit.

  • @romanticwarrior97 Later... with Jools Holland is a good program, but it airs in the UK.

  • @hagiadzo I think I've seen that listed on BBC or ovation etc. I'll try to catch it. Thanks.

  • @romanticwarrior97 amen bro

  • @romanticwarrior97

Most artists today couldn't sing or play live even if they're life depended on it. :)))

  • @romanticwarrior97 My thoughts exactly. I think a lot of the stars from the 70's need to go personally bitch-slap all the current pop-stars. I'm embarrassed by what people consider music these days.

  • @romanticwarrior97 Austin, Texas

  • Remindes me of good childhood times, will never get old for me

  • Seals & Croft definitely were jazzin it right out in this live performance...something about Diamond Girl reminds me of what we heard a few years later from Steely Dan!

  • they sound good live, recorded ..and groovy red tux

  • love them<3

  • is that skunk baxter on guitar in the background?

  • @thedude12372 It's Louie Shelton on guitar.

  • Could someone please upload "Wayland the Rabbit" by Seals & Crofts. It is a beautiful song. Thanks

  • WOW what a flashback ! jeepers.

  • I always loved the walking bass line and the brass parts (not included here) because I played the sax. I asked a friend in the band to teach me the bass guitar part, after I listened to this on the stereo with the bass turned high.

  • @JB4375,...couldn't have said it any better!!!!. The bass player is underated for these guys, too. Check out Summer Breeze,...he's a beast.

  • Tasty solo on that guitar.

  • @klimber1000 I agree. But thank god we got Youtube for this stuff now.

  • I love this song and summer breeze, I listen to them both everyday many times!!

  • AM gold !

  • Exactly!

  • I heard this song a while ago and has been stuck in my head all day. It took me forever to find this song and the effort was well worth it. :)

  • what the freak is wrong with this crowd???...what's a band got to do to wake them up???

  • @secorneli1202

Remember this fact .... most of the crowd are buzzed out on acid... :)

  • @amberjadexxx

haha yeah... 1973...or chillin on the ganja

  • @secorneli1202 they don't wanna wake up friend, they have been partaking of the herb

  • drugs must have been much better back in the day because music sucks today

  • @scarrmd An often overlooked perspective!

  • Incredible song-one of my favorites!

  • I agree the 70's is such a legend for Music! REAL honest to goodness MUSIC.......

  • This is just excellent. These guys had the goods, vocally, and this proves it. Thanks so much.

  • SEALS BROTHER IS ENGLAND DAN FROM REALLY LOVE TO SEE YOU TONIGHT AND NIGHTS ARE FOREVER WITHOUT YOU

  • the real thing in music no computers

  • Effortlessly cool.

  • and early Neil Diamond was pretty good too!

  • Cat Stevens, Seals & Croft, Jim Croce, Gorden Lighfoot.....

    Where have they all gone?

  • Chicago memories from 1973 I worked as a nanny and listened to the radio a lot

This was a good memorie to hear again Babsanfredrik in Sweden

  • @babsanfredrik ever hear dark side of the moon on that radio because it came out in 1973 and its one of my favorite albums.

  • You know, it wouldn't be a big deal if it was just a bunch of old geezers complaining about how the "good ol' days" were better. BUT, that's not what's going on. A HUGE percentage of all people over 15 years old are complaining about the state of pop culture right now. The simple answer for the change isn't so much that culture has changed, but that ECONOMICS have. Still, OBVIOUSLY there's STILL a big market for quality, if someone could just tap into it.

  • These guys were simply incredible songwriters. Thanks for the post.

  • Man, going to the record store...or a big dept. store w/your parents and sneaking away to the record section so you could browse through all the great LP cover art and hopefully the band put a photo on the back so you could see them. But, back then it was ALL about the music and the talent was endless. You bought the album for the bands you liked, and a 45 single for the songs you liked.

  • I was born in '92 but have always been envious of people who got to live through some freakin' awesome music. Safe to say though, I help to keep this music alive by groovin' to it each day ;3.

  • The first set of boobies i touched was to this song-lol,some things you never forget.God Bless the 70's.

  • 70s ohh ya seal an crofts.. queen.. eagles..dobbie bros..blood sweat an tears..steely dan..three dog night..earth wind an fire..badfinger..boston..Bee Gees..donna summer..steive wonder..marvin gaye..elton john..abba..pink floyd..10cc..bob marley..led Zeppelin..bill withers..CCR..michael jackson..BTO..supertramp..lynyrd skynyrd..america..KC and the sunshine band..so many more 70s was pure gold..

  • @zelotalot i totally agree with you,,the 70's ahhhhhhhhhhh, things were changing ,,i fell in love with these guys when i heard this song!

  • you are all so right. They dont write songs like that... Diamond girl how can I shine without you!

  • Too bad, Dan Seals was so sick, while he and his brother, the other Seals being seen in this video, were working on an album together! I bet you it was going to be fantastic, and maybe I should check to see if some of, or all of, the songs haven't been released yet! Peace and Love, BobbyK

  • Here's another great tune from this wonderful group! Peace, BobbyK

  • music was so great back then

  • i remember, as a child during the 70's trying to stay awake till late so i could see the great acts that appeared on The Midnight Special. like these guys. great time and even greater music.. i miss it.

  • Reminiscent of "So What" at all?

  • nice video

  • Nice video

  • Holy shit. Theses guys were so high I'm getting a contact buzz

  • @jason93446 --hate to correct you there Jason, but one thing that neither Seals nor Crofts did was drugs! They didn't drink either.

  • @jovistep I stand corrected

  • were these guys kind of regious nuts, if so , so what, so good..

  • Awesome. Who was playing the electric guitar?

  • Im 45 this song always reminds me of grade school.

  • This is ... such a great song!!!!!

  • the guy with the acoustic sounds like sting :D i like it!

  • tons of AUS as well. Ha ha ha ha ha

  • What I miss most about the 70s is these type of shows where you get to watch your favorite bands and discover new ones.

  • @shelleylavacca oh yeah the midnight special don kirhsners rock concert i can remember in high school going to a concert every week and these were big time bands now they are playing at casinos

  • ))3

  • I am 47 and stuck in the early to mid seventies. This was the time of quality in all forms of music. Not only in the US.Uk and AUS as well.

  • 8 people who visited this video are deaf.

  • I love the Fender Precision Bass lines created in the 1970s. Seals and Crofts had a great bass player, and the bass was always mixed way up!

  • 2 d-lo mi diamond girl....memories..

  • Please upload "Standing on a MountainTop" and "It's Gonna Come Down on You".

  • I graduated high school in the spring of '77. The 70's era of music was one of personalized self expression devoid of cookie cutter music of the 80's and 90's. I'm sure everyone has their favorit es but the '70's so powerfully bring back so many good memories. I'm sure there's a reason for that.

  • Mr Louie Shelton:Lead Guitar !

  • We always go in cycles with everything we do in this country. Popular culture does the same thing over and over. We have a renaissance, then we are in the doldrums, then a new renaissance, where expression reaches it's peak. We will be at the good point of this cycle shortly. Trust me though there are always good, talented, expressive artists that go unnoticed in every era. I'm also not from the above era, but damn I love Seals& Croft.

  • I agree with sugahface. Music now is very commercial.

  • disco sucked. I hated disco with a passion and all the dumb clothes and dances. I was a bad company fan and so anti disco.

  • I saw them in 1974,they took the time to preach thier faith, every one on the floor was respectful, but the concert was ,and always will be rememberd as nothing short of perfect. to have seen them live, was to have heard musicianship,at it,s finest, they played blues, jazz,,dash crofts is also,a very fine drummer, and jim seals,at one time was the texas state fiddle champ,by no means was thier show repeditive, and thier acoustic sets were flawless.

  • I think the 70's was a great era for all music. We crossed boundaries, we listened to it all....pop, metal, folk, country, and yes, disco! It was a universal time for music. We listened, we danced, and we loved it all <3

  • @itsme1963 Oh you are sooooo right.WE DID listen to it all, (and try to dance to it all) lol and I think THAT is part of WHY things started to change for the better then. Sure there were the idiots that were racist, but the majority of us WANTED to get to know other people, races, religions, cultures and so forth - we listened!

  • And people still do...

  • @itsme1963 You are soooooooooooooo right ! <3

  • @itsme1963 I am up for the idea of "reliving the idea of our youth in the 70's...suggested it previously...what do you think?

    Love, Bridgette

    xooxoxo

  • @bushbaby001 I agree! The 70;s were such an awesome time to just be (-=

  • @bushbaby001 im in pick me up just honk the horn and ill be out in a few.

  • @itsme1963 I could not agree more! We need to recreate our own Eden, of sorts...Time for us, once again..

    Love, Bridgette

    xoxooox

  • @bushbaby001 In total agreement!

  • the time this came out was indeed a great time for music and to be alive. these guys hold a lot of memory for me all there songs do. thank you sir.

  • Is it me or does Phil Collins sound almost exactly like him?

  • OK,,, so I don't get it. There's no DJ, people are actually singing, and what are those weird looking things with the strings they're all holding?? LOL. (Hopefully it will never come to that, but some days when I listen to most of the crap on the radio I have my doubts.) ;^)

  • @JB4375 Same here! LOL

  • I love these songs! So much better than what we have these days!

  • talent,talent, talent

  • These guys were and are the "shit"! Such good harmonies, jazz riffs, thoughtful words and phrasings. Would love to see more of them in their later lives.... time to come out boys! Miss and love your music! Thank you!

  • @Reesche type in seals and seals and you will see some good vedio of jimmy seals and famous brother dan known as 1 of the duo england dan and john ford coley sadly dan passed away from cancer this year but good vedio of the brothers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song!! Does anyone know who the lead guitar player is in the background, I love his style..

  • @TheGrabsplatter Louie Shelton is the guitar player. Louie was a session guitarist and once had played on 6 of the top 10 hits in one week on the US charts.

I believe the 60s counter culture gave way to the exposure of great talent of 70s including Rock and Jazz. With time the money machine recording companies turned our music culture into "one hit wonder" puppy mills producing and pushing (for the most part) cheap, sell out, freak show, vulgar, and grotesque mockeries.

  • sugahface your right

  • iM 48 YEARS old, can you imagine how "fucked up I am seeing this n vidio?!

  • love the stop's and intro's a blend of control and pure professionalism not seen since this decade of music left

  • I like the difference between this and the released version. The latter emphasized the harmonies and instrumentals of the two leads. On this you can really hear what a strong rhythm section they had. The drummer's great and the bass line really drives the song.

  • But what about Lady Gaga

  • Comment removed

  • i had forgotten how really unique and truly bright these guy were. They were everything from folkbluegrass to jazz.brilliant

  • thx 4 song

  • I cannot believe I found this gem.

  • @ALaudun don't you mean a Diamond?? ;)

  • Haha when AM Radio Ruled the world!!!!. When i was 8yrs old I fell asleep with the ear phone of my little transistor radio jammed in2 my head every single night falling asleep to the great music of this time. Thanks for posting, takes me back. No wonder one of my ears is stretched out of shape.

  • @ydnarnosfatsug YOU too!!!!!

  • fantastic performance by Seals and Crofts....thanks so much for posting this clip!!

  • I was working at a real estate office in Hendersonville, tn and this man called and said his name was Dash,. I joked wit the agent he was calling for that it was too bad it wasn't dash crofts..a few days later she took me to a small home just around the corner and inside was DASH..he was so nice and I have a picture of him and I in his temp home in front of a wall holding many mandolines..he was so sweet..Glad I had the chance to meet him

  • @afamreport I agree except I don't think the 60s were more diverse than the 70s. You just couldn't get more diverse than the 70s. Rock, Pop, Disco, Funk, Jazz Fusion...etc etc....

  • Im glad I live in a place where the radio still plays songs like these.

    Kansas City

    94.9fm.

  • Another cool song by these two.

  • Both Texans...

  • The mixer guy should have toned down the harmony side of the vocals.

  • I am a twelve year old girl and I love this old music SO much. The music today is so much worse!

  • @ejgiv Nice comment. Hey check out a band from that era called Dr. Hook. I think you may like them.

  • God i miss the 70's >:]

  • June,1973?

  • On the heels of my 36th birthday...My baby song..So my parents say... God I am old and outdated.

  • My memory was America was going through a very dark period (Deja vu perhaps/). What with our losing in Vietnam, Nixon's resignation and a whole host of other problems and than this song comes along and made me for one feel as if the world was not ending after all.

  • his voice sounds like Cat Stevens

  • When I first heard this song, I thought they were black. Those high pitched voices!

  • look it,s real people playing real instruments no sound machines no gimmicks i whish there was still bands around that were touring like these guys !!!!! i,m so sick of lady ga ga and the britney spears garbage aleast they have talent

  • Seals and Croft were happening back in the day...And still good today...

  • DoB 1951..so I am really dating myself.....yet I grow older gracefully..and by far this is this best music going....It was great loving teh 60's 70's..not too much into the disco 80's however.

  • I'm 41 so the 70s happened when i was a young girl ,but i don't think that there was a better time for music. The music now is so commercially driven and all about the all mighty dollar its filled with violence hate and sex ..no feeling or heart is put into it like the music from the 70s..yea there was the drugs and this and that but nothing like now.

  • @sugahface Hey good observation. Also no lip synching here!!!

  • @sugahface Sad. but true. the devil has taken over the music business, and todays''s kids are being programmed to steal, kill, and hate

  • @sugahface You're still a young girl,as young as you feel.

  • @marlaypk ....thank you sweetie! : )

  • @sugahface You come across as a very beautiful lady.I hope life is good for you.

  • @sugahface I read your comment (highest rated comments) - it couldn't have been said better. So very true. Wow, you really put it perfectly and succinctly. I enjoyed the quality, heart and intellect of your comment.

  • @sugahface you are so correct. Other than the big band era, there is no better time for the music industry. 50s and 60s were phenomenal and a great transitional period for the 70's. Great instumental and lyrics that you can still understand and relate to. Can't say much for music after that. 80s til present is like a hit and miss period. My parents even sang and danced to the 70s music and I am 54.
