Thanks for posting so many Welk show numbers. In those days the entire family would watch one show so there was something for everybody. (You see kids, there was only one TV in the house). Kids, parents, and grandparents all watched the same thing... and therefore we all had more tolerance for the tastes of others.

He fired her in the late 50s, for undisclosed reasons. My granny boycotted watching the show for a long time after Alice got tossed.

@Gydinglight12 Alice was not fired, she left the show during a vacation break Lawrence took
around 1959. According to Lawrence he returned and was in the control room and someone held up a newspaper saying "Alice Lon fired in row
over short skirts" Lawrence recalled laughing at the headline thinking it may have been a "gag"
paper someone had printed. The producer said "The part about short skirts is baloney but
the rest of it is true, Alice has left the show"

Larry was no slouch as a pianist. Talented guy.

i love how she sings. it's sad that the music today is crap. i wish that we could have music like this again.

@zac613 Me too. Most music now IS crap. But you can find good performers
but it's a lot harder.

Nice. I never heard her sing as I'm too young only remember the Welk show after Norma Zimmer took over. Alice was a lot more bluesy than Norma.
