  • looks like Mac Wiseman....on the pin

  • Anyone know who's face is on john's pin?

  • Gotta love it! I do!

  • yessah!

  • Dang! He blows and makes the hair stand up on my arms! Raw talent, lol!

  • I love how Sam checks out after his opening solo, around :28, to double check his tuning, and checks back in at around :40...

    The consumate musician...

  • Didja see the interview with Sam Bush? They needed a new bass player, Cowan came in and impressed them enough to hire him - then he asked if HE could sing something... Sam said "well, I'M the lead singer, but sure, sing something"...

When Cowan was done (I forget what he sang for them) was done, Sam said "um....YOU'RE thre new lead singer"...

  • @xlr8tr12 He sang Some Ole Day.

  • I can't believe there are 2 people that cannot appreciate the artistry of this entire group and face it there is only 1 man in the world that sings like this with the passion range and control

  • From beginning to end. This was a total pleasure to listen to. Vocal was great and instrumentals were so right on!!! TYVM

  • This a song that after a couple of decades, I still listen to often and crank up loud just to hear THE Voice!

  • Oh my goodness . . . John Cowan shoulda stayed a brunette! He's so amazing.

  • sounds like the folks in the audience got one hell of a show for their money that night.

  • Cowan is GOD! Just saw him last night on tour with The Doobie Brothers and Chicago! incredible!

  • @johnscck where did you see him

  • @feherplay I saw them at The Woodlands outside of Houston, TX. He's filling in for the regular bassist (Skylark) who is ill for at least a month. It was an incredible show. Check The Doobies website for dates.

  • i walked my wife down the isle with this song!!!

  • what year was this performed?

  • Absolutely fantastic. God has certainly touched this John Cowan with a voice from Heaven !!!!!!!

  • How i love this band. I remember this show on TNN (Fire on the Mountain)

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • whoa, this is back in the day!! nice!!

  • This is not a showboat, face it the man owns this song........no one tops him,not on this one. Just giving credit where it is due.

  • @trish5800 i most certainly agree

  • He's better than ever now. Bluegrass is lucky to have scored him, he can sing anything and amaze me. I'm not easily amazed but some people's talent just floors me.

  • great tunes

Always been a fan of New Grass Revival since the 70's

    Shelley

  • Like no other musicians have ever "showboated"? Ever seen SRV play behind his back? This is a showboatin' tune for John. I'd do it, too, if I could sing like that. Showboat on, dude!

  • Getting around to Telluride time againJure with NGR was still together... I saw John sing this just as the moon was coming up years ago...unforgetable...

  • What are YOU talking about?!?!

  • Please Do You Have Let's Make A Baby King

  • This will forever go down as one of my favorite songs of all time!!! No one could sing like John Cowan could. Thank you BluegrassLibrary for putting these up for all of us NGR fans to enjoy!!!!

  • Boy can that guy sing! Beautiful.

  • @hollyforosshermanna he even sounds better today than he did when he was with the New Grass Revival!

  • Sam Bush looked like Kramer before he grew a beard!

  • Sure wished the NGR Band still was on the circuit....what a group

  • Slim Rules. The Gumby Button was mine...

  • I got to see John do Good Woman's Love at a little club on the college campus in Austin, TX some years ago. After it was done, I overheard the conversation between the couple in front of me. I guess they were in their sixties.

Him, maybe a little taken aback, "That's a Bill Monroe tune!"

    Her, "Not anymore!"

    HAH!
