@MrHuge85 ok...i have never once replied to a comment that deals with race but this is as narrow minded as saying that all black people that make their hair straight want to be white. while i understand dreadlocks have connections and meaning for various races (not just black people...indian hindu had dreadlocks as a symbol of the faith to their gods for example) dreadlocks have since become a symbol of many things. if anythingthing my dreads are a symbol of freedom and individuality.

Man your dreads look realy good. i made my dreads by my self for like 2 mounths ago they came out pretty ok. the trick with dreads is that they get better by the time, in the begginning its alot loose hairs and such but it just gets better with the time. and i had the problem when i washed then they got pretty fuzzy ans such but i bought knotty boys tightening gel and it really works out for me! thanks for a great video my dreads are like 5inches atm :)

thought i would wright a dreadlock update. basicly i have let them get verry messy and loads of loose hair has poped out :/ but they still look prety good, they look more natural... i am debating wether or not to fix them. i kindof like the messyness tbh

cool man. well a lot of people do prefer natural (also known as 'congo') dreads. they require far less maintenance - well no maintenence really and are prety cool. i lik the idea of just letting the hair do wha it wants to do and knot up where it wants to knot up. ive seen some natural dreads that look really crazy and wild and others that look just like made dreads. whicever you decide to go for - natural or maintained - i wish you the best of luck with them and hope you enjoy the dreadness.

cool. i wouldnt worry bout the metal ones. ive worn ones that made the ahir a little green underneath but it just rubs off, something to to with sciency things in metal, doesnt damamge the hair though, i wouldnt worry about it. i would suggest not using rubberbands. a lot of sites tell you to use them cause it helps tighen dreads up at roots etc but it just damages hair, like snaps it/makes it thin out etc. so yeah i would suggest not using them, dreads tighten up with time- not bands :D

i just got random metal ones that i made. im a jewellery designer so i got all the stuff to make my own, cheaper and i can make what i want. i couldnt really find any cool ones either in the shops, and if i did they were too expensive :/

i have just put my dreads in tonight (yes at new year, i did start at 12)i love them but they are all frizzyfull and the tips are all whispy, is there a way to knot up the ends without one of those hooks? and i have eaten that stuf, it dosnt taste half as good as it smells, still prety good tho. last question lol, can you just shove some beads on when you put the dreads in or should i wait till they are a bit older and tighter. sorry bout the gramer and spelling btw.

cool, awesome youve started dreads! dreads are always fuzzy and whispy when you first get them done, theres not much you can do bout it. they will get tighter with time. my dreads were really fuzzy and crappy looking when i got them done, just takes time im afraid, just keep palm-rolling to help them tighten. yeah you can put beads in whenever you want, doesnt make a difference to them. just watch if your puting metal ones in, some turn the hair its touching green! hope ive helped, el kano.

I heard somewhere that when you wash your hair, dreads hold water for a long time. Is there a way to wash dreads and help them to dry quickly?

yeah this is true. i think i talk about it in my first video, if not here it goes:

1. squeeze the dreads as much as you can (like you would a sponge or something) to get most of the water out.

2. wrap a towel round them (like 5 or so dreads at a time) and squeeze them to get evn more out.

3. sit in the sun, in front of a fire/radiator, use a hair dryer for a bit to get them drier.

4. you will not be able to get them bone dry usually so you need to let them air dry a little at the end.

thats it!
