I think the size is still OK (of course, bigger is always better). My question is - don't they eat these fish? And how do you know which one is male and which one is female? How to get to know?
where did you get all the things you have in the aquarium? Like the hugee............... I think thats wood in the background and the plants and everything, can you please tell me because I like your aquarium and need to buy a new one because my turtle needs more room to swim in
Yes, the turtle will devour any plants. Mine are plastic.
Turtles are natural swimmers, filling your tank high is no problem but leave enough room for it to bask. You can either buy one of these floating islands or use rocks/drift woods that stand higher than your water line for the turtles to climb onto to bask.
Males typically have longer claws and bigger tale.
what's wrong with gravel???!!! i use that instead of sand. also it seems to be the female that rules the tank. i've one female and two males (not into spit-roasting or anything) and she takes their food off them, bites them and then demands sex when they're not in the mood etc. would the sand not make shit of the filter? advice from anyone welcome please... :-)
@milesfr0mh0me Gravel can kill your turtles. It is small enough to be swallowed but too big to safely pass through their system. It can become impacted and cause serious harm and death. Get rid of your gravel ASAP.
I had the sand in the tank before I put water in. That is not to say that you cannot add sand after there is water in the tank. Your water will be really cloudy at first but eventually the sand will settle.
but...watch out for the boy....he always wants to mate with the girl....she could get really distressed by him, so watch it ;) otherwise you would have to separate them
It's actually the opposite for this couple...the female is very aggressive. She actually bit the male's paw once when he was courting her. He avoided her for weeks after that ;) Ever since then, he gave her space.
daym his nails claws are long

Unless you use under gravel filter, sand is ok.

Don't get any fish--the turtle will eat it.
33 gallon is NOT enough for two turtles.

I used to have gravel and the turtles would swallow them. So I switched to sand.
