And I happen to like Madonna. She pioneered a good deal as far I am concerned for the female performer's cause. But performers like the Shang-Gri-Las had their own impact in their day-Mary Weiss still gets tons of hits on her site from fans who have not forgotten her-or new fans like me. And her group has yet to make the Hall of Fame for whatever that's worth. If Madonna is deserving imo there are many more TRUE Rock artists far more deserving. IT IS 'The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame' after all.

Janis, and Grace did not play instruments on stage that I know of. I was referring the all-female rock bands that played their own instruments and judging from the comments I've seen over the years the Runaways DID have an impact if not on the same scale as Janis or Grace. Joan Baez was or is a folk musician moreso than a true hard rock performer. Her genre seems to have been more accepting of females playing their instruments-usual piano or acoustic guitar never electric-than other genres.
