You have to remember that Jimi died at youg age, and we don't know how his career and playing would develop. And we also cannot suspect how we would have remembered Clapton if he had died at 27 as Jimi.

Wow -- JJ is playing one of his trusty old Casio 360 electrics.. He probably always sounds like himself, no matter what guitar he uses. Great version (Eric wisely declines taking a solo at the beginning) but if you want to see this song done right, check out the 1979 Paradise Studio version with Leon Russell.......

Cale's and Clapton's sound are so similar that it's nearly boring. I rather hear Cale by himself. Clapton's sound has greatly mellowed the past 30 yrs. Where Mr. Beck can more than add an edge that would compliment Mr Cale. if in doubt listen to Beck and Les Paul.

Looks like he's playing his modified Casio 360 synthesizer guitar from the 1980's. They quit making them, but I know he had a couple. It was sort of a Stratocaster knock-off, with a built-in MIDI synth!

Personally I disagree. His career is heavily associated with his unique guitars, starting with his old Harmony that he basically modified into an acoustic/electric. He developed a habit of choosing lesser-known brands, and modifying the hell out of them.... that's partly why he has such a unique guitar sound. I would never play his guitars for myself, but different strokes.....
