This video recording really does no justice but if anyone has ever been to the Graves Mtn. Bluegrass Festival, they have always had a great sound system. Not only a set of speaker near the stage for front row audience but they run another pair or speakers 3/4 of the way back through the audience for those in the back rows also. Great festival.

I like them. personally i haven't heard of the carolina chocolate drops. maybe that itself says something... they may well be very good of course! its good you like their sound. if everyone liked the same bands it would be harder to get tickets :)

Sounds like you have a problem with "old folks" and if you're saying the Cherryholmes is country you may want to contact Nashville and tell them because the awards awarded to them were in the Bluegrass categories.

Upon you mentioning the chocolate drops I looked them up and they're good too not sure I'd say better I watched the here rattlesnake here song the old grandpa jones song.

no problem with old folks--its just that cherryholmes is not bluegrass--kinda like when skaggs went country-check out old crow--sam bush-etc.-there is just a big diff in sound.

Girl on the banjo is great !! The rest are mediocre in my opinion... That's the problem with many family bands, one or two good musicians end up carrying the rest. Great song here though !

nah no-one carrys anyone. all the members share out responsibilities very extensively. i hold all of their CDs and whilst i agree that Cia the banjo player is amazing, there are songs in which the banjo does not feature at all and some of those songs are amongst my favourites. Cia's banjo doesn't feature in 'the sailing man' and that is my all time favourite. i love hearing cia's banjo but there is no such thing as carrying with these guys :)
