What harp (manufacturer) Mic and amp are you using? That's a fine tone you got. I know most of the tone comes from the player, but the gear helps. Nice job! Your playing is great.
@flstf2k I'm playing through an inexpensive , forty dollar mic I bought at Radio Shack; there's nothing special about it. I am using a Roland Cube practaice amp
@flstf2k One thing to keep in mind that while mics and amps and settings aren't everything in getting a good tone, it is important to have the right equipment and to experiment with different settings . It's a combination of things. Keep playing, my friend, and thank you for listening.
@TheoBurke I do experiment each and every day between mis, amps, and delay equip. I like the tones I get, but figure there's something more. I expect you know what it's like. Your style however reminds me of Mark Ford. It's classy, jazzy, beyond the norm, and full of style. Thanks for your post. It is posts like your that stir the soul to play better.
@flstf2k Funny you should mention Mark Ford, because he is one of my favorite harmonica players. He has a wonderful "flow". I had already been playing a long time and had established what I think is my own style when I first heard Mark with brother Robben in the Charles Ford Band. He did a brilliant solo on their version of John Coltrane's "The Promise" on that record. I was stuck at how close our styles can be at times. All told, I've been playing over forty years. Yes, I love the harp!
@TheoBurke Mark Ford is one of my favorites as well (as is his version of "The Promise") . My other favorite song he does is his amazing version of "Mellow Down Easy" from his 1990 disc. I'm always blown away how he could hit notes so clearly on his harp that one would think Robben actually playing the guitar. Mark Ford is probably the most underrated harp player out there. Nice to hear other folks enjoying him.
methinks you should give out some lesson here please

What a great job! You make that harp sing like a saxophone but better! May I ask what kind of harmonica it is?

@dscasler Thanks, man, that means a lot. If I remember correctly, I was playing a Hohner Special 20, in C.

@TheoBurke Thanks for the reply. You proved that tone comes from within. Joined up to HarmonicaSpace as a result.
