I tried this on my Motorola Droid X to my Sony Bravia HDTV with an HDMI cable to watch a Netflix Movie. The TV just says NO signal. What else do I need to do?
Just purchased a droid x phone 4 days ago and did real well in learning alot of things about it. But one big dissapointment is the phone will not transfer any pictures or videos to my Sony bravia 1080i TV using the verizon purchased hdmi cable. I have seen videos on youtube to get the instuctions but mine will not work on this tv. I tried all 3 HDMI ports and programmed them through on the remote and picture is constantly blank and droid x no change....any idea?
Looking to give your site a traffic boost?I would advise the GAS aff system,Because unless you have very good knowledge of programming languages, GAS is the only one with a simple installation,Go to GAS-AFFILIATEdotCOM to download it.
@kurt2552 whaaat? i've been playing HD movies and youtube videos to my TV for like 2 years with my iphone and ipod component cables i bought at best buy. It even loads alot faster than this.
you need to tell ppl that you have to touch the hdmi icon on the pic or video to transfer it to to tv. i just happened to touch it and it worked and i had spent 20 minutes googling why it wont work and even vzw wanted to do a master reset and i told em to go to hell i wasnt erasing all my data and re-downloading my apps. YOU MUST PUSH THE HDMI ICON ON THE PIC OR VIDEO TO MAKE IT TRANSFER.
I have 14 full length movies on my phone and they play in beautiful 720 scaled up to 1080 with no problem. There are a ton of apps that allow you to see your phones apps on screen via HDMI...and those apps (like Real HDMI for instance) allow you to play Youtube as well. Simply put, you don't know what you're talking about the limitations you perceive have far more to do with the user than the phone...apple hack...
Well, the Tivo/DVR pays any blockbuster video ordered on your phone by signing in. I will post a video link of the divx. You can however filter the restrictions from the blockbuster app and convert them into your media gallery, THEN use your HDMI cable to watch them on a tv. As far as bluray, I really don't know. It just says you can on page 19 of the users manuel.
@DICEMAN60 It has to do with the different frequencies at which the A/C power grids in the USA and Europe operate. Google the wikipedia entry for "Refresh rate" and read the "Televisions" subsection.
I enjoyed the proffessionalism of the video, but I'm sorry to say, your info on the HDMI out is SO WRONG. The Droid X DOES play divx to a tv in hd, also, it DOES play movies downloaded to the phone, both from the Blockbuster app, and other sources. Most newer HDTV's allow for it, but if not, all you need is TIVO, DVR, Blu-Ray, or 2Wire, and it will play from your Droid X. How do I know? I played a movie from Blockbuster straight to my tv, and there's videos demonstrating divx and internet video.
Some program offer alot of codec that stock software don't support, luckily its open source os we can play almost if not all of the format of video and music to play on this platform its all about finding on the android market.
@gee556. This video review is all wrong. It DOES play divx and blockbuster videos/movies to hdtv. Did it myself. Most newer tv's allow for it, but if not, all you need is Tivo, Dvr, Blu-Ray, or 2wire to play movies from the Droid X to the tv. The owners manual (downloaded in pdf online) even says it. It was Pocketnowvideos tv that wasn't capable, and he didn't have the alternate devices to make it capable.
So whats exactly the point of the tv out if you can only see the pictures and videos? You might as well use plug your micro sd card in an adapter and then on the tv and it will just do the same thing! Neverthleless not a bad feature to have..
@leftkats just give the devs some time... soon enough we will have a droid x being used as a nes controller playing mario in high def :).. and not to mention i dont see how itd be all that hard for them to do everything on the tv like he says once they get SU working :)
Can you connect it to a pc and record the video and audio on the pc while playing games?

It's not the droid's fault that an app developer doesn't support the HDMI port.

Your video was not scaled. Look at the TV. ;) It was playing 720P at 60 Hz. It wont play 50Hz because it is a US TV they run at 60, 120, 240 etc...
