please help???/ they are charging me 927 dollars to change my catalytic and two oxygen sensor is he try to ripe me off or is it a descent price....please help!!!!!
this is labor and parts .......my is a trail blazer 03
My dad has an 05 tb. Its beast. I like to drive it cuz of how much power it has. You get on it and it goes, and does it quickly too. My 225 slant six could only dream of being that quick. I wouldnt say the tb is gutless. For a vehicle that weighs almost 6000 lbs. Id say a 0-60 in under 6 seconds is good. My truck weighs almost the same and itd probably do 0-60 at least under 2 minutes. lol
Definately need to take out the main resonator under the front passenger door. I did the same with my LTZ but it is little too loud but you get the best performance outta it.
anytime you open up an exhaust TOOOO much you run the risk of losing some power, i own a PT Cruiser and i replaced the stock 2 1/4 pipe from the cat back with 2.5 pipe all the way to a straight thru muffler and i lost bottom end power with that, its all what you want, that deep tone (bigger pipe and more free flowing) or have it crackle and keep the same amount of power, hope this helped a lil
Sounds a lot better than stock. I want one. It's louder so you can actually hear the engine but it's not so loud as to be annoying or cause a drone inside the cabin. Right on. I like the way it looks too.
if ur looking for an excellent sound, look up the Flowmaster 50 Series SUV muffler, trust me my grandpa has 1 on his 03 5.7L HEMI Ram and it sounds TOUGH! but in the cab its barely louder than stock, im waiting to see what it will sound like towing our 1988 24 foot four winns :)
Why would you take the resonator off and put one back on. That's what a muffler does. So you spent $100.00 bucks on a muffler so you could have two again? Just take out the factory one now ( the one under the passengers seat ) and put a straight pipe in it's place
I've had no issues towing with my 4.2L either. Towed my wifes Trailblazer SS from Washington State to Connecticut when I moved here. I towed because I have a lift with 09 Z71 Tahoe springs and shocks in the rear, so I don't get the sag like the stockers. No real issues pulling her SS though. Fuel economy sucked, but I more than doubled the weight.....and yes, 275hp is the correct #. Dyno'd mine with flowmaster 77 and Air Raid intake and PCM4less tune at 258 rwhp...
I don't think it is that much larger than a Chevy Blazer. The only difference in motors is that the 4.3 is a V6 and the 4.2 is an inline 6. If I waited one more year I could have gotten the SS instead. I would like to get a Tahoe, but I'm starting to like not having a payment every month. I have an S10 with a 4.3 and I think that is gutless.
umm have you ever pulled any thing with a 4.3 and a 4.2? cause i have and there is a big difference between the 4.2 and the 4.3.... the 4.2 is way better on power its a great every day motor i now i had a blazer with a 4.3 and have now a tb with a 4.2 ...... but i would still rather have an SS, they are just funner
thats horrible my 4.2 tb has no sweat towing up hill.... i towed my dads f150 300 miles thru arkansas and tennessee and had no prob...... damn that sucks really hard
TAKE IT OUT OF DRIVE AND PUT IT IN 3 FOR TOWING. GET RI OF THE STOCK AIR CLEANER AND GET A KIT OR ATLEAST A K$M FILTER.(JUST LIKE THE OLD VORTEC 4.3'S EASIEST WAY TO GET YOUR POWER AND MILAGE TO SUCK IS TO HAVE A OLD AIR FILTER. i ALSO USE FULL SYNTHETIC OIL WICH HELPS AND CHANGE YOUR FUEL FILTER AFTER 60K MILES AND JUST FEEL THE DIFFERENCE. ......LATERS
My 07' stock 4.2_____ Factory says stock hp is 185hp
And to the guy who raced a TB and thought it was gutless..........Try racin someone who knows how to drive and also takes care of his ride and uses 92 octane isntead of that cheep am/pm gas. Your jeep gets worse milage anyway and you might think its faster because of your gear ratios are alot shorter than the TB Optional gear packages!!!! OH YA YOUR AN ASS CLOWN TO TOP IT OFF.
The Trailblazers motor is a little smaller but the 4.2l inline six is rated at 290hp, where as the 4.3 v6 in the older Blazer is rated at 190hp. The Trailblazer has the most standard HP in its class. I have the 5.3l version with 300Hp and 3.73 gears and it pretty quick, its no SS though. So you see displacement is not everything and get your facts strait before you trash a particular vehicle.
@lol123m You don't know what you are talking about at all. You say the blazer is better because it has a 4.3 and a trailblazer/envoy has a 4.2, but look up the stats they have 85 more horsepower than the a blazer. I have an envoy and it's wayyyy faster than my buddies blazer
@lol123m The 4.2 has more HP than any stock 4.3, 4.2 had 270hp in 02, 275from 03-05, 291 in 06-07 with an average torque of 275ft#. the 4.3 had 180hp with 235 ft# torque, (even the Cyclone only had 195 w/260 # torque. Drive one and put your foot down they run great.
They didn't need the gutless 5.3 v8 in them people just wanted a V8. The are less nimble than the Blazers, I'll give you that.
@TheAwolmind the syclone was rated at 280hp but ppl who put them on the dyno found they were more around 320hp. gm under rated them for insurance reasons. someone i know showed me the brochure of the one he bought new and it had its factory hp rating on it which was 280. as far as the 4.2 and 4.3, ppl look at the liters and think they know which one is better because of the slightly bigger 4.3 but the 4.2 runs amazingly well. its the strongest best running I6 ive driven. lousy mileage but fun.
Yeah, the blazer had the 4.3L V-6. It also was putting out about 150 horsepower, which is almost half that of the 280ish horsepower the Vortec 4200 is putting out. If a stock Blazer and a Trailblazer were to race, the trailblazer would smoke the blazer, even being hundreds of pounds heavier. Can your Blazer tow 6000 pounds? Didn't think so.
@lol123m This is one of the dumbest things I've ever read. Look up the power numbers of the old 4.3 and put them against the power numbers of the 4.2. Not even close.
cool bold look of the muffler beeing the exhaust tip at once, but you should have made it look better by tucking the muffler behind the bumper??? just an idea...
Instead of replacing the resonator with a muffler you should have completely taken of the resonator and straight piped it with a nice tip and put the flowmaster where the existing muffler is. If you do that it will sound good.

what i think is gay is that the chevy blazer is a smaller truck with a bigger motor

get an SS or just a normal blazer.

Gay? Well sure the 4.2 may be 0.1 litres smaller but the fact that it has like 75 more HP than the 4.3 makes your statement basically irrelevant lol.
In case you haven't noticed, lately the way engine trends go, displacement goes down while HP goes up.

i wouldnt be so sure if i was you

hold on a sec. ANY, i repeat ANY website you go to will tell you that the 4.2 L I-6 has 275 HP @ 6000 RPM
i dont know what source you are getting this from but i have found NOTHING telling me that the trailblazer has 170 hp.
go to google, search "hp 2005 trailblazer" and see what EVERY result on the first page says. 275 HP, 275 HP, 275 HP........ the list goes on and on
oh and on your earlier comment, its a common trend that displacement goes down, and power goes up. thats nothing that new
